Thank you sir for introducing authentic recipe of kearalam. We never use onion in the traditional keralams vegetarian dishes. .we believe that , while tempirng the erissery maveli vist our house.
I do regularly in my house with pumpkin and Yam minus karamani, zeera and small onion and green chilly.Instead of chilly powder I use pepper and drychilly with cocanut.

We grind coconut with red chilly and jeera only no onion in erissery.nendhrakka/big banana erissery is also super.ladt we fry mustard udad dal curry leaves and coconut in coconut oil and mix with erissery..it gives good aroma of coconut fried in light red color in coconut oil.

In Kottayam, Ernakulam sides, we use small onions also in Erissery. We roast the raw coconut, along with that few small onions, kariveppila and necessary powders are added. We don't add this raw coconut paste at all. This way of preparation is mostly seen in Thrissur. I have no idea how the other parts of the state prepares the same.

Erissery with vazhakkai (green banana) is also very good. I don't use chili powder, I use pepper and red chilies with coconut. Thanks for the recipe.

No onions in erisseri. Also pulisseri is the same as morkozhambu. When you make it with mampazham or nenthrapazham it is called pulisseri
