  • In his latest opinion piece in the Sunday Times, journalist, author and commentator - Eusebius McKaiser argues that South Africans will truly only have themselves to blame if the political landscape does not change in 2024. This amid what he calls the fundamental reality that the country in the worst economic, and democratic, shape it has been in since 1994. He attributes the status quo partly to voters continuing to fall for the ruling ANC's new rhetorical trickery. Well, to help us unpack some of his views on these and other developments in the country, we are now joined by political commentator, Eusebius McKaiser

      This Eusebius guy has always gaslighted South Africans. He thinks everyone is stupid and he's the clever one. He intimidates abo Sakina with that useless jargon. For example, there isn't a problem saying the is a problem with undocumented foreigners overwhelming the system and saying the ANC has failed to address that situation. The two are not mutually exclusive.

    • @siZobonaMakeza
      @siZobonaMakeza ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lebohang Mohapi, I don’t particularly like Eusibeus, but he is 100% spot on in this interview, and Sakina does not come across as intimidated at all. I’ll hazard a guess and place the intimidation on you, and your inability to provide a defensive argument to present in favour of the ANC. The man clearly said undocumented foreigners and failing immigration policy are a problem, it’s simply disingenuous for the ANC to use it as a scapegoat for their dismal failure to deliver to you and myself - the voters - what the constitution entitles us to, instead they’re tricking us into believing they are doing fine the problem is elsewhere. Unless you’re one of the sadists stealing from the poor in the governing party, then I can’t see where you’ll summon a defence for this fact?

    • @lebohangmohapi8605
      @lebohangmohapi8605 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@siZobonaMakeza You and me are in agreement in as far as the failings of the ANC are concerned. To expect a defense of the ANC from me is to have completely missed my argument regarding this Eusebius fellow. In fact you guys are actually doing the same thing you are accusing me of doing, you are using the ANC failure argument to sound morally superior to ordinary South Africans who feel an actual squeeze on the ground because of this matter. One can correctly blame the ANC for not adequately securing the borders whilst at the same time blaming individuals who knowingly, illegally encroach onto other countries and disrupt their systems and citizens' rights and privileges. Eusebius is gaslighting South Africans into thinking they are somehow politically and socially stupid and unevolved for pointing this out.

    • @siZobonaMakeza
      @siZobonaMakeza ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lebohangmohapi8605the fact of the matter is that it is a small number of "politically stupid and socially stupid" individuals who have kept putting the ANC into power, and they will likely continue to do so in 2024 in spite of the mess they've created, and then there is a subconsciously ignorant majority that simply does not understand the impact of not voting for something else or voting at all. Likely out of fear of a resurgence of apartheid (another gaslight by the ruling party and cronies), not realizing that the very regime they've put into power through inaction continues to force us to live under a form of communist dictatorship that has continued to keep them out of the economy, claiming to be socialist. So if you're looking for a gaslighter, it is indeed the ANC for making us believe that WE the poor and marginalized are stupid for not blaming foreigners (who have always been in the country legally and otherwise) for their inability to run the country effectively - it's a mind game perpetuated thought their media propaganda machine. How you know it's working is you see fellow patriots suffering the same oppression arguing about whether foreigners are the problem or not, this is the very definition of gaslighting.

    • @lebohangmohapi8605
      @lebohangmohapi8605 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@siZobonaMakeza In a recent interview with Faith Mangope, Kgalema Motlanthe was asked point blank if he thought the ANC had failed, he said yes. I would further argue that the ANC’s failure is monumental and distinctive in that it forces people who come from a history of massive oppression to contemplate a recurrence of that oppression. That is severe. As a result, and as opposed to your argument above, it is not necessarily because people are “politically stupid and socially stupid” that they’ve continued to vote for the ANC, but rather because they are caught right smack in this dilemma. There is a context to these things. In fact, I argue that it’s the people in the second category that are “politically stupid and socially stupid,” because their apathy is inexplicable and without utility except to reinstate the ANC as you say.
      Let me pause there a bit and ask 2 questions:
      1. “.. .force us to live under a form of communist dictatorship that has continued to keep them out of the economy, claiming to be socialist.”
      - What do you mean here?
      2. “ . ..marginalized are stupid for not blaming foreigners (who have always been in the country legally and otherwise) for their inability to run the country effectively.”
      - I’m not sure that that has been the position of the ANC, not officially at least. In fact, the failure of the ANC in part is their laxity of allowing the excessive influx of foreigners according to their Pan - African doctrine (which is itself a western doctrine by the way).
      - BUT more importantly Why do you say “..foreigners (who have always been in the country legally and otherwise” ? As if there had been an equal influx of foreigners into South Africa before and after the ANC had taken over? (That sounds like gaslighting on your part, I’m sure you know that that is untrue.)
      I am basically trying to make the point that we can’t and shouldn’t try to use deception to offset deception. Guys like Eusebius have a different agenda to the one you and I may have concerning this country. It’s not easy to see however by an indiscriminate eye. That is why I like the term “gaslighting” because it explains these subtleties. I appreciate that you understand this concept well also. I think we need not only intelligent minds, but honest and morally upright minds as well if we’re to tackle the issues in South Africa and around the world.

Go register and vote for the opposition! We need only 2 million voters to vote for the opposition to unseat the ANC. If we don't remove the ANC in 2024,we're doomed, expect to lose your life or of your loved ones to high violent crime, even more porous borders, a brain drain of STEM fields, and a weakened economy.

      Ur stupid, let me break it down to you.
      1. No European vacation, Malema was invited to a niece's wedding.
      2. The issue is with WMC and racists, being white or coming from Europe doesn't make one automatically racists or a supporter of the current economic system that EFF is fighting.
      3. EFF policies are not the same as ANC hence the never reached an agreement on land issue.
      4. EFF has never been in government nor been involved in criminal under dealings. We now know VBS was a lie, only ANC people were involved and trialed there.
      5. Open border idea of EFF is similar to EU.
      Dont respond, this may fly over ur head

    These journalists and broadcasters like to insult our intelligence sometimes.South Africans do not need to see the issue of immigration based on the ANC's view...the issue of immigration is what affects them on the ground. Just because South Africans are against the issue of immigration which is being poorly addressed does not necessarily means they are blind to the failures of the ANC without the immigrants.Because even if you put the immigration issue aside,protests still do happen across the country because of other discomforts.So who told them that the immigration issue is the biggest and only issue that can make South Africans vote for the ANC?There are so many South Africans who have not been voting for the ANC but are still very much against the issue...it's a national issue,not necessarily a party issue. Yeah in a sense that the ANC is the ruling party.,but South Africans no longer trust the ANC anyway...Now here is the thing....South Africans who have lost faith in the ANC would not suddenly start voting for the party just because of this one issue,but the main point of the matter from the South Africans'point of view is that South African even under the same failing ANC is not the only country in the entire continent that must be properly governed so that all the Africans can benefit....but they believe all the countries equally do carry responsibilities to govern them well so that their own nationals benefit as well....so they get offended that other nationals are not being urged to hold their own governments to account or fight those governments the same way South Africans are being told to focus more on the failures of the ruling party in their country...it's simple,let's all fight our respective governments as Africans because we all have similar challenges in our continent when it comes to our respective governments.

      What a lot of waffle. First learn how to run a tuck shop. Then u can try running a country. A tuck shop does not function profitably on idealogical romantic notions or graduates steeped in political science degrees looking to get on the gravy train. It functions because people who run it know what they must do to make it run properly. Not by people whose main function is to make the country ungovernable. I have heard of the notion of flattening the economy to the ground then building it back up the African way. ( free of White Monopolistic capital and Colonial powers) "There could be merit in this but from where Im standing these words are normally uttered by those who can't build anything and have nothing to lose so they just break every thing and in the chaos that ensues it becomes survival of the fittest. That type of world is a return to the law of the jungle. It does not require education or no how and is based purely on intimidatiion and bullying. Not for peace-loving citizens who want to work for their living and improving themselves.

The construction mafia threatening school buildings, new hospital buildings, new multimillion shopping centres alleged police and politician involvement. Old coronation (rahima moosa hospital) babies dying from lack of equipment MEC no where to be seen. Whistle blowers getting killed not celebrated and protected. The list goes on and on. Targeting Foreigners is just an ANC distraction. We cannot be that dumb not to see that.
