The Eliguzel Mosque

The Eliguzel Mosque, designed by architect Nur Ozkendirci Ozbek, began construction in 2012 and was opened for worship in 2016. It is one of the mosques that stands out with Kastamonu's elegant and simple architecture. Instead of a synthesis of tradition and modernity, the Eliguzel Mosque can be described as a complete reinterpretation of everything traditional. For example, while the mihrab is designed in a classical muqarnas form, we see the pulpits in a place beyond tradition. Another detail in the mosque is the expression from verse 162 of Surah Al-An'am on the funeral stones: Say: "My Prayer, and all my (other) acts and forms of devotion and worship, and my living and my dying are for God alone, the Lord of the worlds.” We can understand that this emphasizes that worship is also free from showiness. The mosque's design, which is devoid of ostentation, also corresponds to this.
Eligüzel Cami 2012 yılında mimar Nur Özkendirci Özbek tarafından tasarlanmaya başlanıp 2016 yılında ibadete açılmış, Kastamonu’nun zarif ve sade mimarisiyle dikkat çeken camilerinden biri konumundadır. Eligüzel Cami aslında gelenekselin ve modernizmin sentezinden ziyade geleneksel olan her şeyin baştan sona yeniden yorumlanması gibidir desek daha doğru.Örneğin mihrap klasik bir mukarnas şeklinde tasarlanırken, rahleleri de yine gelenekselin ötesinde bir yerde görürüz. Camide bir başka bir detay ise musalla taşları üzerinde yer alan En’am Suresi 162. ayetteki “De ki: Benim namazım, ibadetim, hayatım ve ölümüm âlemlerin Rabbi Allah içindir” ifadeleridir. Bu sözlerle ibadetin de gösterişten uzak olduğunun vurgulandığını anlayabiliriz. Caminin şatafattan uzak tasarımı da buna tekabül edebilir.
