- So the brand new kit, decor to the max just came out for the sims 4 and whilst it is right up my alley design-wise, there definitely feels as if there's a couple of missed opportunities for some swatches on certain assets

With stuff packs being phased out and kits being pushed I can’t help but feel like the end is near. If that is true, I’m going to feel so dumb for investing so much money into this game. No matter how many packs I purchased, it never felt complete :/
I just wish there were wood tones on the paneling- I was LITERALLY about to purchase it until I saw that there weren't any wood swatches.
That and a second one with the bottom panel as a solid then it would be perfect item.
I'll still buy it for the paneling, wallpapers, rugs, but I agree, no wood swatches was a definite oversight. At least the mesh exists for custom creators to recolor.
Just a heads up it isn’t even a white swatch on it the color is actually a light lavender in game it matches the basic pastels second row 4th swatch identically. 😭 I wanted to mix it with white wainscoting wallpapers then realized how horrible the white is in right lighting would look white but next to all other whites you can drastically see the difference…

I actually really like this from the first look. Might be my favorite kit.
I would rather have a july expansion pack that works than a june one that doesn't ^^
Also as I played with jungle adventure, I loved to learn the selvadorian culture and I wonder why they stopped with the cultural part. They could have done it for snowy escape or cottage living (even Batuu but we won't mention it ^^). See my sims learning new cultures and it making them discover secret things about the world and new interactions is so exciting for me.
It could be interesting for a future wish list videos ;)
I think it was a bit othering.
The assumption that obviously you're not salvadoradian. It was harsh for those who might have wanted to represent themselves with the culture that was based on their culture instead had to come in as a visitor.
I was so relieved that they didn't make Sulani a destination world, since I live on a Pacific island it's fun to see my home represented and be able to play with itas my Sims home. Although I would have loved if you could have chosen to learn the culture of you came from elsewhere (and not the beach bum aspiration).
The island Mana is cool but I kind of wish instead of just the island elementals the other Sims with island mana would have expected you to sing and hang with them and make speaches at events.
Maybe teach or help with local decision making, be part of the welcoming committee and community fire service.
I liked what they did with cottage living.
@@shushia1658 I agree with you. I was thinking of having different cultures in each world and having to learn other people culture. It would give a new personality depth of our sims in my opinion. In Sulani, there is some cultural aspect but they didn't make it a skill you learn. I don't think it should be a skill though, it should be its own specific category.
I did buy this Kit and I like the content, even the funnel wall decal that you're not fond of. Thanks Molly for this overview on the content of this Kit. I will find uses for many of the items in room decorating.
We need those panel frames in every swatch. And we need a similar concept, but for regular trim. Because that way we could switch between cool trim designs, or choose wall paint with a trim that doesn't match the furniture and replace the trim with an overlay that does match the furniture.
I really wish this concept was developed so much further. Please Sims team, if you ever read this, it would be such a design game changer. I wouldn't feel like I need a color wheel if there were interchangeable stuff like this.
Also while we are on this same topic please make beds more like CC beds where we can select frames and mattress/sheets separately lol
Yes! Separate baseboards, crown moldings, wainscotting, and these panels in all the Sims wood tone swatches!
The single chair in the red swatch makes me think of vampires but also Dr franknfurter from rocky horror picture show.
It's frustrating with kits because like with this one there are several pieces in it that I really like but there are several things in that I would never use and because you get so little in kits £5 feels like a lot of money to spend on like 5 things I would use regularly and 5 things I would never touch.
I liked the promo pictures, but seeing the different swatches made me realise, that I would not be able to use them like I imagined.
No simple wood swatches make the items very niche.
I would love to see an arcade-themed stuff or game pack!! With that flooring, oh my god, yes!
I would name mine "The Peacock" and have big fuck-off peacocks all around the walkway lmfao I'm never going to be able to look at those without thinking that now
I think 3 kits is a reasonable expectation for summer. It means if there is anything more than a kit we'll be excited. And if it's just the kits, we'll we haven't got the our hopes up.
Though we have to think, since the last stuff pack was released in Jan 2021, I'm guessing it was completed around October 2020... So I think the sims team shifted to Kits because they were quicker/easier to get content out over covid.
Since... We are somewhat...returned to normal, I wouldn't be surprised to see a stuff pack drop.

Cottage Living came out in the last half of July. When I started to have quite a lot to do and really didn't have time to play anymore.
Ack, those are all so good. I turned updates off because I was worried about story progression blowing up my save, and now it looks like a lot of people are getting an error zero when trying to save so I'll probably be keeping updates off until that's fixed. But when I turn that back on, I'll be getting this kit!
I had that error and it was my mods! It was either UI cheats or More Venue Types that I updated to fix it.
I’m curious - how many kits are there, and how many of them have been gameplay items, just Bust The Dust? That’s the only kit I own. It generally feels like there is such a focus on worlds/build/buy/cas, and gameplay is an afterthought. These are nice items but, I just…eh. These quick money-making kits are rolling out while a brand new game pack was unplayable at release and still isn’t fixed. It’s really disheartening. I didn’t even buy My Wedding Stories (but was really looking forward to it) and will likely refrain from buying anything else for the foreseeable future. 😒
I can't actually remember how many off the top of my head but yeah only bust the dust has been "gameplay". seems like they've just scrapped the idea after bust the dust was so broken on launch but that's never been confirmed
@@EnglishSimmer Yeah, that has me worried…they’re potentially not even making more gameplay items because it’s easier for them to make cas and build/buy objects. I wish there was more of a balance, and that they prioritized quality gameplay. With that said, I’m not sure that I’d even want a bunch of gameplay items to come in kits…I’d be happy if they did a really thorough job on stuff packs, game packs and expansion packs, and of course keep updating existing packs and the base game.
The red and white chair swatch makes me think of a mimic.
Honestly this seems like exactly what a kit should be. It’s kind of a niche style and may not be for everyone, so making it a smaller release for a cheaper price works perfectly for the people who want it, yet no skin off the nose for those who don’t. There are some unique items in this kit I sorta dig so I’ll be picking it up soon, but with Rune Factory 5 coming out tomorrow this kit will definitely have to wait 😂

See I think that is the point of this kit though...its supposed to be a bit much, isn't that what maximalism is? At least that is my view on the kit. The more I look at the items, the more I like most of them...they just can't do a proper end table though. They just make them too large. I'd love to see them go in and make them all smaller.
yeah I deffo don't mean it in a bad way! I think they captured the maximalist style very very well
@@EnglishSimmer Same. I figured you weren't meaning it that way, I was talking more about the people that were saying that lol. I do wish the panel things had more options. One with no left side and one with no right side so you could make a larger section for the panneling, but maybe that could come with future items like it. :)
Is this kit up my alley? Absolutely. Am I going to buy it? Absolutely not.
Kits are not worth $5 . They don’t have half the items of a stuff pack and it simply feels like a money grab at the end of a games life cycle.

I hate it. It's so tacky and all over the place. Who thought it was a good idea to mix Regency and Abstract Modern? It's like mixing water and oil.
to be fair, this is maximalism to a t and it's also ridiculously popular rn. shows such as interior design masters and scrolling through tiktok just shows how popular it is at the minute. this kit does the overall theme of maximalism quite well (there's lacking aspects that I talked about and I would've loved more clutter) and whilst it's not for everyone, it fits the theme they went for
