    I was attracted to a guy in High school. At that time I never knew Bisexuality. And in class, my girl BFF came out as Bisexual and for an essay she explained what it is and that it is okay being bi. And during Pride Month I told my peers I was Bisexual and no one teased me cause of the amazing essay my BFF did and I'll always thank her.

    I was convinced I was straight until 24. I didn't believe I could be bi, because It was not a 50/50 thing, it was heavily one-sided. For every say 10 women, I was attracted to, I would find one man I would be attracted to. As it was so few I just brushed it off. It took me almost a decade of this to finally realize that that 1 in 10 attraction to guys was still valid and still made me bi.

    I'm straight and I will never understand bi-erasure, because saying "oh you must be straight because you're dating someone of the opposite gender right now" is like saying "oh you must be asexual because you're single right now." And unlike what some people assume, being attracted sexually to others while in a relationship doesn't mean you're gonna cheat or have to break up with who you're with. Your sexuality doesn't just disappear or change into a [insert current love one]-sexual, you can still be attracted to whoever and still stay loyal to who you're with. It's exactly like straight relationships, c'mon people.

      Just to clarify, asexuality is a lack of sexual attraction (there can be some, for example, demisexuality.) Asexuals still experience romantic attraction and can want to be in a relationship. Aromantic people do not experience romantic attraction (or experience some - demiromantic) so would not want to be in a romantic relationship. So it would be more fitting to use aromantic in that metaphor

      Some girls are insecure. Bisexuality in males tends to signal to straight females that they won't be secure in the long run. We all look to the future with guys we like. If there is something that gives us a smidge of doubt in our stability with you, then it's done. The doubt sets in, and before you know it, it's too much to think about. To see you in a different way is also just down to our individual preferences. What you look and feel like to us changes. It's unfair for you, but people can't help their attraction, as you know. Attraction across the board can come and go. I wouldn't want to know. I would think why's he telling me this? Is it because he wants us both? Normalising it is the only way to change this. But that won't happen in our generation.

      @@jl_nwestieso you are claiming that women are biphobic because bisexuality is…unstable? I think you need to have more confidence in your ability to keep a man tbh.

    • @jl_nwestie
      @jl_nwestie 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @icedancer2370 Biphobic? No, don't put words in my mouth. Not all women. Some women who aren't as fucked up as myself can handle it. But others who have been shit on from great heights by men and maybe even influenced by past trauma have a harder time. I know for myself that I would want to have just 1 normal thing for myself after being orphaned and not having anything else that's stable in my life that came with no drama. I use normal and stable in the same type of context. As in, it's not what I have grown up seeing and gotten accustomed to, so it's very new still for some. The unstable possibility also comes from the many gay men who used it as a stepping stone, and therefore, the doubts that stem from their time in the bisexual box still linger. Something unfamiliar to our lives can often light up the insecurity in us. So that brings me to your kind comment on my belief in keeping a man. Unfortunately, I have 1 and have had for a decade. No matter where I leave him, he always finds his way home, bless him. But play your cards right, and I can arrange for him to be all yours. I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for the women who I know have been affected by this. This may make me a tad biased on the subject after losing my friend to suicide after she found out her man was sleeping around with men and women. This isn't all on him though as she was just as fucked up from people letting her down in her past, just as I am today. She also had no belief in herself that she could keep a man. I shouldn't have spoken before like I knew exactly how it feels to be in a bisexual relationship because I don't. I was only giving my not so great 2 cents and possible reasons on the matter. But I can't help but think of the comparison on biphobia (in this case) or mere preferences? Is it wrong that your subconscious brain tells you your male partner isn't as attractive as he also loves dick? Then, with this, the physical attraction that you get with him then goes out the window as you look to him as a different person? My friend saw it the same way as when guys who break up with girls for weight gain. Is it right, no, but can you help how you feel, no! Do you hate the sexuality, no! Do you hate the sexual acts themselves? No! Do you hate the people? No! Do you want the drama that's associated with it? NO! Would you want people to be happy with whoever It may be, but just not within your relationship? Yes! Again, this isn't everyone, as some are truly biphobic, in every sense. It's such a complex issue with so many factors that can make people run away! My friend didn't like that she felt everyone and their dog had a whisper or sneer for her. She didn't like that there was whispers regarding how she couldn't keep him happy as her dick sucking skills were crap, and that how could she be with someone who's had more dicks than her?! She didn't like 2nd guessing who her man had slept with and if he compared her to them. Knowing that she could never give him the 1 thing he liked destroyed her. She always said that it's just her luck to find something that everyone else had and for it to be dangled in front of her and then whipped away. All things that girls who are stable in their life would find it hard to deal with. I just hope it can be normalised and educate people on it. That way, we don't have people take their lives because of it.

    My dad's friend just kinda looked at me blank for a moment, then asks "so you swing both ways?"
    I said yeah, and he just smiles and goes "wait wait wait! I have a meme for this!" And send me a meme with the caption 'I swing both ways, violently, with an axe'

      personally though, i'd have a lot of respect for someone who is biromantic over someone who is bisexual (by this i mean someone who is engages in sex with both sexes, which means they change partners often or cheat, also hypersexual- i am fine with people who are sexually attracted to both sexes, since that seems to be the case with most people to some degree). i just dont understand the drives for this. what do you want to get out of it that is greater than a normal friendship (best friend)?

    • @bobbyiscool
      @bobbyiscool ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done some research, and I'm starting to get it. I still don't see how this is different than a normal relationship (girlfriend/boyfirend). Even before the LGBTQ+ movement, girls used to have "girlfriends" as a normal thing, (could be platonic), just typically not at the same romantic level as a boyfriend.
      And tbh, a platonic love seems pretty much the same as two really close high school or college friends of the same gender. I personally don't understand why it needs a classification beyond "best friend" unless you are looking at a long term relationship.

  • @aon02b
    @aon02b 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3037

    Saying that bisexuality is transphobic or excludes trans people is not only wrong, it is also transphobic in itself because it implies that trans men and trans women are not men and women.
    If bisexuality was exclusionary of anyone (which it isn't) it would be non-binary people. Not just trans people in general.
    But the "bi" meaning 2 does refer to 2 genders anyways. It refers to 2 types of attraction. "Homo" means same and "hetero" means different. So homosexuality is attraction to people of the same gender as you, while heterosexuality is attraction to a different gender from your own. Bisexuality is experiencing BOTH kinds of attraction - same gender attraction and different gender attraction. It has never implied that there is only 2 genders.

    The whole "being bisexual is transphobic" is so incredibly hurtful to the bi community bc if they did some bi theory research reading they'd know there is a 90's Bisexual Manifesto & in the manifesto the following is stated "Bisexuality is a whole, fluid identity. Do not assume that bisexuality is binary or duogamous in nature: that we have "two" sides or that we must be involved simultaneously with both genders to be fulfilled human beings. In fact, don’t assume that there are only two genders. Do not mistake our fluidity for confusion, irresponsibility, or an inability to commit. Do not equate promiscuity, infidelity, or unsafe sexual behavior with bisexuality. Those are human traits that cross all sexual orientations. Nothing should be assumed about anyone’s sexuality, including your own." & like caso cerrado wey✌

      Pansexuality from what I’ve gathered is an attraction to however one may identify, and regardless of what’s been someone’s legs, so it’s more fluid and open to other genders outside of cis folks

    Bisexual means: attracted to males and females
    Pansexual means: attracted to everyone (including trans, non binary, etc.)
    I know because I thought I was bisexual until I realized that I was really attracted to everyone not just males and females.

    • @Izzy-wl7gl
      @Izzy-wl7gl ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Actually bisexual is attraction to 2 or more genders and pansexual is attraction regardless of gender. Whilst bi does mean 2, the definition was updated to be inclusive of our modern understanding of gender and orientation. Bisexual is also used as an umbrella term, as it encompasses all attractions to more than one gender, as well as its own identity. Pansexuality does fall under the bi umbrella. And also trans isn't a separate gender, trans men and women are still men and women, you arent bi or pan or whatever else if you like a trans person

    "Everyone doesn't NEED a label, not everyone has a label that they even want to identify with, and not everyone wants to advertise a label at all..." Oh, this is so VERY true! As I've said elsewhere, labels are a convenient shorthand, like how I identify as a versatile switch, but labels are not pigeonholes that everyone fits neatly into--or NEEDS to fit neatly into a slot. The problem I have is when someone feels the need to reduce people to just a convenient label and nothing else, something that other folks feel even more strongly about and with good reason. We are more than just the labels we choose for ourselves, let alone the labels that others try to put on us--especially when those labels just don't suit us--and I refuse to be reduced to just one category when I am many things in one unique package.

    When it comes to feeling like you have to be 50/50 to be bisexual I think it's a problem with the language we use to describe an incredibly complex phenomenon like sexuality. We use such simplistic terms like "straight" "gay" and "bisexual" when in reality it's not that simple. Also it's not 50/50 for me; it's more like 100/80

    *TL;DR: the term* *_"spicy-straight"_* *is a biphobic/bi-erasure term that is common in the LGBT.*
    I am bi and for the longest time (especially in the LGBT community) I was made to feel like I was just what they called "spicy straight." Because I am a top. It really messed me up and put me back in the closet for years.
    But it made me angry because I knew what they were insinuating. That mindset where they believe that bi people are only a thing because we just want to fuck everything and me being a top confirmed that to them. This is why I understood where she was coming from when she clarified that 1:10 "I am attracted to men and women I find attractive." This attitude is only more obvious when they say "I don't date bi people because I think they will cheat on me." If they do, they didn't cheat on you because they were bi. But because they were a cheater. Also a specific one but, the idea that they will not date bi-men who are tops because they sound like selfish lovers. The idea being that we just want a hole to fuck. (Been told this gem more than once.)
    Oh, also the whole "gold star gay/lesbian" where they see you as spoiled goods because you had sex with the opposite gender before. But that is just pure biphobia than just bi-erasure.
    It is frustrating because gay people know how patronizing it is to come out to a straight friend and have them go "well, as long as you don't hit on me." But they are not the least bit self-aware when they think bi people want to fuck everything that moves.

My mom threatened to send me to a blind pastor. Her reasoning was that “he won’t see me so, it will be better”. That never happened but, I was terrified. My family is very involved with the church. That, "I don't care," is such as asexual mood too. I've had crushes on a variety of people regardless of gender, just not interested in the sexual aspects of relationships the same way as others. In a way, both bi and ace are like invisible orientations because everyone either assumes you're straight if you're with someone where you look like it's straight, and others think you're just hiding behind a label because you're actually gay and don't feel safe saying it.

    I have heard this so many times, "you don't understand because you're not gay." I'm bi, and I'm married to a man. A pretty masculine, old fashioned guy. Because of that people assume I'm straight. I still feel attraction to women, but I have committed myself to my husband because thats my person. My life goals, my values, my morals align with him. That doesn't mean I'm straight, and being bi doesn't mean I feel the need to cheat on my husband to feel fulfilled.

      I'm pretty sure every human being on the planet can be attracted to the same sex? You are only bisexual if you have a very strong **sexual** attraction with that person upon seeing them. For example, most men are attracted to women just off seeing their bodies and shapes. BUT most men would also "enjoy" sex with a man (for reasons), but simply do not have that same level of attraction upon sight. I'm not quite sure if women also view men in this same way. If not, ignore what I said, my argument is wrong for women. But if that is true and your attraction towards women is not as strong as I suggested, you have no distinction from the majority of people on the planet.

    • @bobbyiscool
      @bobbyiscool ปีที่แล้ว

      But I have total respect if you are bisexual but stay committed to the person. Men can't stop sexual attraction to women outside of their wife, but they can control that emotion. That is all I ask for in people. Going around and having random sex and dates (especially if underage) is a huge problem today. It used to be mostly a straight issue, but now its all spectrums. I just don't think society should be hypersexualized at all...regardless of what orientation it goes with. Your body count should be one, if possible.
