Hunter i own a black MIM 70’s Tele Deluxe and i play mostly pop punk so I’m guessing that’s why it’s better for pop punk as opposed to metal

Don't modify this, one day you'll look around and find out that chugging is better dealt with purpose built guitars like your Hello Kitty7.
I say do to it whatever makes you happy............Some of us worry more about tone than collectability
@@popeye089 it's not the collectability, it's about the chance that he may come to regret jacking with the one guitar that was a bit different than everything else he has. But you're right, it's his guitar, he can do what ge wants with it. I just don't see the point in having every guitar you own chug, but to each their own!
@@cchavez248 I agree with about every guitar needing to chug. Like a lot of people here, we have many different guitars. I myself have them because each inspires me to play a different style. Just like he played something different for this guitar. He should look at that as this is an inspiring instrument causing him to get out of his comfort zone. Yeah it is scary and uncomfortable at first but that is what makes the world of music interesting
Absolutely I agree don't modify. Just get a different instrument to cover that ground.
The joy of changing pups and general aesthetic, is that if you can change back to the original pups if the mood changes. It's not permanent.
This has got to be one of your best demo tracks ever, just sounds epic. Almost a bit of modern era Journey sound in it.
The first bit was straight up Don't Stop Believing, then it went a bit U2, then morphed into Joe Satriani
Those aren't Wide Range Humbuckers btw. They're regular humbuckers that just have that style of cover. You won't need a new pickguard.

@@agufish although looking at the screw arrangements, maybe you will need a new guard?
@@bipbipletucha They are the V-Mod II humbuckers but looks the same. Only difference is the screw arrangement. Three on the V-Mod and four on the Wide Range.
@@bipbipletucha Maybe so, I think Fender currently has 2 or 3 variations of the WRHB pickups. The American Pro might actually have the real WRHB! The other version(s) of these types of pickups Fender currently offers are indeed standard humbucker in design but WRHB in size. While still pretty versatile pickups they are far from being high-output (as demonstrated).

@@agufish i think you would just have to drill a new screw hole since the wide range pickups have 3 screws, but I'm pretty sure there just standard size

Les Paul may be old, but it's still used a lot by rock groups and thought of a rock guitar, while this Tele with wide-range humbuckers gives off a totally different vibe. You wouldn't normally see a modern rocker playing this. I feel like Dad status seems to go to anything that doesn't traditionally chug. :)

That demo track was beautiful dude. This guitar brings out a totally different side to your playing which is really cool to hear. Chugs are fun but variety is nice 😆
been watching yr demos for a while now, agufish. I have no doubt that you can chug very efficiently. But believe it or not, this track to me, is one of your best sounding composition! Sometimes the guitar itself might just brings out a different side of our creativity. thanks 4 the beautiful music.

THAT DEMO TRACK WAS EXCELLENT as per uzhe, BUT understanding the guitar's strengths and doing something different was so cool! It was a bold move Cotton, but it certainly panned out for him! Great vid! New format is cool too. Nice to mix it up :)

I'm impressed by your realization that this guitar's strength lies elsewhere. I own one also and after playing it for awhile found how it works for me. By the videos end you seem to have really found a sweet spot.Great soaring track.

I bought my first-ever Fender this year as well: an American Performer Telecaster HS. It's absolutely fantastic. Gorgeous (satin surf green finish, white pickguard, rosewood fretboard), plays so well (I'm still early in my guitar journey and I find it super player-friendly), and sounds great. I have a few other guitars, all different makes and models, and I love them all for very different reasons. That being said, I highly recommend the Fender American series. Worth it!

I like the format. I also like you playing to the strengths of the guitar for your demo track and not forcing chugging into everything. Not every guitar is meant to chug...

I have the same guitar, same colour and fingerboard wood. I am very happy with this instrument.
My buddy just rewound some of those pickups for me for more grind. They came out great. Love these Deluxe "Dad" guitars.
You know very different guitars expands you playing. I have a gretch that I hate playing but I still play it pretty often because I like what I sprite on it

When will people finally figure out that with correct use of eq that mid output pickups can chug like a motherfucker in the context of a mix. Wide range humbuckers can handle metal fantastically.
I got my first american strat this year. And it goes great with my usa GibsonSG and my usa built 6505+ Murica!

I tried strat am pro 1 and instantly love the neck. It reminded me of ESP thin U neck but a little bit thicker.

That’s kinda the thing with Fenders.They look and feel amazing but for dirt the pickups are kind of weak.I love my HSS Strat but had to swap out the bridge humbucker for something with more punch.

My first american guitar is the telecaster with a red sparkle finish
for paf pickups if you wanna still do “heavy” stuff just go for that underoath esk crunch post-hardcore type style
This is the reason why the Tele Custom has a niche following. You have the trad tele single coil for slashy, thrashy, chuggy BUT you have the WRHB in the neck to do that almost les paul but still fendery lead sound thing
Great guitar man. I say leave the pickups. It's nice to have something different hanging around. Having something out of your normal wheelhouse hanging around can be good for finding some new inspiration. Nothing wrong with having a dad guitar. We won't shame. Haha
that dark night finish is simply gorgeous. I say keep it stock.
