My oem DMF luk lasted 1.25 lac kms and 12 yrs . 2 more luk DMF lasted 5 more years and 50,000 kms. Now again its noisy and 3rd one needs to be in . Who to blame? DMF technology or the brand? What better you can put above OEM and that too luk Schaffler?
Be much easier to put a SMF onto the crank, and go back to a traditional arrangement. How did people manage before DMF were fitted?? This guy has hillbilled this clutch to work (and it does) so respect goes to him (if he couldn`t convert it back to a SMF since it was off.) Obviously he did it to get him or a friend back on the road, at some point the disc will need replacement though.

No its not necessary to grind the welded portion unless it comes with contact with anything i.e. no friction with other parts. And how do you plan to balance the flywheel? You need to spot weld the DMF at points with equal differences; you can measure the point differences for weight difference caused due to welding. I hope this helps😊
Now you're going to have super-harsh clutch engagement. Here in North America there are often single-mass flywheel / clutch conversion kits for this issue. Instead of the damper springs being mounted in the flywheel, they are back to being mounted in the clutch friction assembly in the traditional way. I assume you only did this as an experiment?
Dude did you try to run your car for many mile, is your engine or transmission did not find any trouble. I have also a problem with my sorento DMF it hard to find the part here in the pinas.
The objective here is to control the engine vibrations and dampen it not balancing, the flywheel and clutch absorbs the vibrations. In a DMF vibrations are absorbed by the flyhweel and in a SMF the clutch disc does the job. If you convert a DMF into a SMF be ready to endure more harshness and vibrations.

Well this is a cheap way to run your vehicle when the dual mass flywheel has given up. The con is that you have to keep the rev band low as increased rev will cause more engine vibration which will in the long run cause harm to the gearbox as the converted single mass flywheel will not be able to dampen the engine vibrations.

The flywheel will now be out of balance causing lots of vibration which could end up breaking the crankshaft.

No conversion kit was available here and being the cost of new flywheel too high, i was left with no other choice.

Yes, it seems to work fine but in the long run it will affect the gearbox's top shaft bearings due to vibration.

What kind of clutch disk did you pair with the flywheel?
The same disc which came with the car. Modified clutch with springs is unavailable here in India.

Yes you can. But I suggest you go for an aftermarket conversion kit. Should be rather cheap than OEM ones.
