The ram was quite nice! Our breeding program for our Leicester Longwool breeding program produced a 5 star near perfect ram this year. We are having high hopes and keeping him in top condition. He is literally the hope of our future breeding program. He is the first ram that we consider ‘perfect’ for establishing a prime breeding stock for this rare breed. 160kg is a pretty average ram with the LLs and we are working on a crossbreed for meat that tips in at an average 190kg with some going up to 210kg. Our shearer always gets the boys out of the way first so he can save his back for the ewes.
Love a duck Karol, those gorgeous rams were quite the handful, especially the second one. Handling & shearing that monster is some skill. Such a pleasure to watch you work..great job!!! If they weren’t so well behaved, well I dread to think…! Glad they were kind to you, although I doubt your back would agree. So interesting to listen to Stuart talk about their conformation & how it relates to lambing. He explained it really well. He clearly loves his sheep & he has a high quality flock, so knows his onions. Please do film when you go back to shear the ewes… I’ll look forward to that. Thank you for sharing this & I hope your own sheep & lambs are all doing well. Would also really enjoy watching you shear some of yours, their fleeces are gorgeous!!! (if you can’t tell, I’m a spinner 🧶 🤣)
This s was such fun to watch. But maybe not so much fun for you to struggle with those two huge brutes. LOL. They sure were magnificent sheep though, especially that bigger one. You handled it like an expert. That’s no easy job. Gorgeous fields in Ireland really tugs at my heart. Love your vlogs. Thanks for this.
This always fascinates me, how they submit and don't fight once they are on their bum or their back. I never get tired of it. This was also very interesting to me when you talked about their conformation and how it pertains to ease of lambing. Thank you for posting this.
One of our rams weighs in at 360lbs and when he is calm he just sits through the shearing but if he has an off day I just have to pay the shearer to come back another time. He plants his feet and makes his neck rigid and no one man can make him move if he doesn’t want to…yet he is as gentle as….well…a lamb! He comes up to the pen railing and asks for neck and chin scratches and nuzzles for comfort.
@@viscache1 That’s some tup! Blue faced Leicesters and Teeswaters were the worst I clipped for going stiff and pushing their heads back. They virtually all seemed to do it. It’s a good job they have nothing much on them! I enjoyed clipping but hated tups.
Great video Karl it was good to hear your man on about his rams and they are top stuff where is got that Suffolk ram from isn’t to far from me back home 👌
Mostly at home Margaret! I've taken part in most of them at some stage, almost made the senior final in the Great Yorkshire a few years ago as a young pup 😂🔥
I don't think they're halter trained Wendy. Chief in particular is very ignorant, Stuart says it often takes 2 good men to hold him in place for the shows!
Top job on those two big boys.Great handling skills proved by how well the behaved during the shearing..
Thank you very much!
Super rams there. Good video, great to meet the farmers and hear about the sheep rather than just watching shearing all the time.
James, was it you I met out in Sligo last night or am I doting? 😂😂

It’s all about how they are held, get it wrong and with big boys like that, the shearer would be off the boards!
I agree with John and sometimes you can do everything right but they decide to take you for a spin anyways! Thanks for watching Anita and John!

Great to hear you enjoyed it Gary! Hope all is well out in Oz mate!
So big, but you can see a professional knows how to handle them. Job well done 👍.
Thank you very much!
Man this is top notch 👌 where did you learn to take down big rams? Diceys?

@@EweTubeIreland i knew realised sheep could get that heavy wtf haha brilliant vid
those rams look like weightlifters....solid muscles. gorgeous!
Serious sheep surely Pamela!
The big boy was a tuffer too sheer 🤣. You wouldn't want to have to many of them to do in a day.
He was Tom 😂 Whatever it is about them Texels, they're slow to come ready.
Good stuff. Don't be afraid to listen when someone else is speaking.
Note taken 😂👌
Good man karol, I ken wat u mean bout them tups they were braw ..!!!!
Mighty sheep surely Paul!
Where do you do most of your shearing? local, abroad or maybe Scotland.Have you taken part at shows ie . Great Yorkshire Show

Great video too fine big looking rambs are alpacas harder to shear
Cheers David! Yes quite difficult! 😅😅
I had a big Suffolk ram was the size of a small steer. My shearer was happy when I sold Freddy the Freeloader.
Good name 😂
They are sure big sheep.
Bruisers Anna 😂😂
I handlied bigger hoggets in garavogue on a sat nite . Professional done 👍✅
I was thinking, I expect those boys are halter trained, it would save on the back to halter them to the shearing area.

@@EweTubeIreland 😂 Sounds like they are very entertaining at the shows.
