Each time I listen to this song it brings tears to my eyes, 😢 JD. Sang it with such passion and conviction, as if he knew he would be going home shortly after.
This is a song sung by a Man who knows he is about to come to the end of life's journey. You can tell he was singing the choruses with great resolve but still strong enough to drop some serious bass notes at the end of his lines. He is celebrating the fact that despite the times that he failed God, as we all have, God never left us. He is still with us despite our faithlessness, and he is faithful. It is a celebration of a life of God's faithfulness. RIP JD.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sumner when I was a wee lad in Buffalo NY. My parents purchased an autobiography and I asked him to sign it for me. He said sure "Palzy Walzy" It is now 45 years later and I still have that book. Most of all, I have the memory of this amazing man and his wonderful voice, that I will carry with me until our dear Lord calls me home. What a wonderful memory.

We sang togather many times,but not always on the stage, we shared many wonderfull hours promoting gospel concerts and started the Southern gospel association in the early 70s. We golfed often with many gospel music greats and jd was my parter because he knew l had a high handicap. I miss him and know that God still lives in this old house. a foursome wlt
My Dad met JD Sumner in WWII. Tonight I couldn’t sleep and I was listening to this and it seemed JD was bringing back my Dad for me to talk to. I have been ill and asked my Dad to ask Jesus to heal me. I believe JD is in heaven with my 6:25 love you Daddy and thank you for raising me to know, love and believe in Jesus! My Grand Mother took me to see him at the Stadium in Kentucky in 1975 Murry State, It was a Very GreatDay for me Because I knew then I wanted to sing just like him, Problem was I was young and Had a Tenor voice at the time, I lead singing at the Church of Christ in Riverdale Ga, for a few years, and As I got older I worked to Sing like JD Sumner. it was all I wanted to do. I am 61 now Have been singing all my life and Have not reached that Place, But God Has said raise your Voice unto me and I will hear you, I pray he has heard me. My great Uncle Nick had a deep voice like that when he talked. his son Nick is with him this New Year and I am remembering both of them fondly for kindness, graciousness, affection, and generosity ever holiday when we were welcomed in their large farmhouse with the two garages and what we called the elephant's graveyard, a pit full of old car parts.
