We can get frozen Skyline chili at our local Giant Eagle grocery store in Canton Ohio but I'm sure it better fresh. I think Cincinnati is also know as the Queen city.
I miss skyline!!!!! I grew up in Ohio went to Kent state had my first skyline when I was pregnant and ate so much damn skyline I gained a whole lotta weight!!! Also, true Cincinnatians eat their skyline with oyster crackers on top :)
Hi! We are starting a 3 month road trip from Florida and will be in Cincinnati and later Cleveland. What neighborhood should we stay? And any suggestions on must do’s? Thanks! ~Cara
@@JohnandCaraRetiredTravellers I would go downtown right to the heart of the city honestly. Anywhere close to fountain square. Thats where you will get the best experience. Make sure to stop by Over The Rhine and Clifton for some good food!

Both of my parents grew up in Cincinnati a very long time ago, but these foods were all rocking then! I still make my mom's Cincinnati chili and people always ask for the recipe. My mom's recipe does have allspice, cinnamon, sugar, apple cider vinegar and cocoa in it, and chili powder of course. She had a recipe in her folder that my dad says was given to him by the owner of one of Cincinnati's Greek restaurants that originated the sweet chili. It's way too hard to make, so I always make my mom's simplified version. Cincinnati food is such a treasure. My aunt never made the trek from Kentucky to Virginia without a block of frozen goetta in her suitcase. Now I want some! This is really memory lane for me, I was born across the river from Cincinnati in the 1950's.
Not sure if you're still in Cincy (today is Saturday 6/6), but if you are, you need to go to Jungle Jim's International Market on Dixie Hwy (north of town). Plan to spend a few hours wondering through there - very unique shopping experience
If you venture any farther south in Kentucky, there is so much to see and do, even with Covid19. The Red River Gorge area is perfect for hiking, and the views are like no where else. While in the area, you should try Ruth Hunt's cream candy--plain and chocolate covered. There is a store in Lexington, but their factory and main store is about 30 miles east, in Mount Sterling. Ruth Hunt's also has a candy bar, the Blue Monday, which is the official candy of the Kentucky Derby.

We went to the University of Cincinnati many decades ago, fell in love, got married in school and settled in Ohio. It's great you came to Cincinnati! There's alot of great things to do here when everything's open. I've always loved all the hills. We have a ton of hills but we're in a valley. I grew up right below fairview park. We used to watch annual fireworks from our kitchen windows or fairview, Bellevue, or Eden Park. I think you would've really liked Krohn's conservatory and the Cincinnati art museum. Our city is deeply rooted in and famous for the arts. I want to try the restaurant you went to in NKY. I love goetta! (but no ketchup) There's some great restaurants here. Two I like alot are first watch and eli's BBQ. I like the style of my mom's homemade chili better than restaurant chili, still with a little cheese and crackers. So glad you visited Findley Market. It's been around forever, but I liked it better the way it used to be. Where was the tiny house you stayed in?
Oh yes! I love a good 5-way! While in Cincinnati you should have hit up Jungle Jim's (two locations). It's a great international market. Anyway, I also love a good buckeye as well (the candy). We actually had some this past weekend (small shop in E-town, KY). And, I just noticed someone else mentioned Jungle Jim's. They referenced the Fairfield location, which his our favorite.
Awww the Nasty Nati :) you went there on a good day .Normally its gray sky's , rainy .But its home.I miss it.And you went to skyline .Skyline is the best.
I moved from Cincinnati to Missouri last year and miss all the local Cincy foods, especially Gold Star!! The next time you guys are in Cincy, you guys should go to Graeter's Ice Cream. It's the best!!
Just had to add this in since I live in Ohio. The buckeye candie's are very big during the winter Holidays. They are typically made when you make your Holiday cookies. At least that's how we do it in Southeastern Ohio.
OMG, I missed you guys! I live in Bellevue, KY, ... the next town over, and home of Schneider’s Sweet Shop, but I spent the last three days at the Red River Gorge in KY. One of the most magical places on Earth and definitely worth a visit! You should go there in your RV! 😉 Even though I live in KY now, both myself and older son were born in Ohio, and we’re called Buckeye’s!
I think most candy shops make some variation of the buckeyes. Where I'm from in Michigan we call them chocolate dipped peanut butter balls. I run a Christmas craft show and have two ladies who will sell about a thousand of these. They only sell them by a 3-pack for $2. My mom always made enough chili to have some leftover so she could make chili mac the next day. Of course, it had beans and onions already cooked into it. She boiled and drained regular ole elbow macaroni, added in the heated chili. Might add another can of stewed tomatoes if needed then we topped with raw onion if wanted and lots and of cheese. mmm mmm good
Oh my god your making me homesick. Cincinnati is my hometown and your hitting all the best places. Schneider’s was my favorite place when I was a kid. My mom took me there once a week. Oh and Goetta is amazing right?! If your ever back in Cincinnati you missed Graeters ice cream, which is another Cincinnati must have.
Cincy is the City of Seven Hills. The hills in this list are: Mount Adams, Walnut Hills, Mount Auburn, Vine Street Hill, College Hill, Fairmount, and Mount Harrison (known now as Price Hill).
Ah I remember fondly Cincinnati food. We go there for the Flying Pig Marathon and Goetta is served at the runners breakfast after the 5k and 10k races. Always had some Cincinnati chili while there. Skyline slightly more Greek spiced and Gold Star is more Middle East in flavor. Most non locals do not appreciate Cincinnati chili and that is why there are not many of their chili parlors outside of the area.
My mom made the best gotta! She followed the recipe on the back of the bag of pinhead oatmeal, but she added bay leaves and ham hocks.Nothing out there on the market comes close as to taste.
Love love love chili 3 way, especially the veggie variety from Gold Star. Bummed you guys didn't hit Frisch's Big Boy while you were there. Thank you for showing folks that Cincy is an amazing town :)

Omg you came to my city would i would have loved to have took you to some great hidden gems throughout the city! Hope you enjoy your stay!
Come do a food tour in Louisville! Had no clue you all were so close!
Might add another can of stewed tomatoes if needed then we topped with raw onion if wanted and lots and of cheese. mmm mmm good
I'm definitely trying to make that chilli and pasta at home! Great video guys!
You can buy them online and have them shipped they are amazing!
Love your channel guys, think it's great that yous are getting the opportunity to show us city's in the states rather than Futher away. 👍
What a fun video guys, love the food tours! Thanks, stay safe.
Lol. Google is using a snip of this video in their latest commercial. I just saw it and there you both were, twirling your noodles. ❤️
They all look so good
You two are so close! Hello 🖐🏻! I live in Cleveland - a great place to add to your list! I make homemade buckeyes & a vegetarian chili.
Cincy is the City of Seven Hills. The hills in this list are: Mount Adams, Walnut Hills, Mount Auburn, Vine Street Hill, College Hill, Fairmount, and Mount Harrison (known now as Price Hill).
I LOVE this! Been binge watching your vlogs and im super happy that the adventure continues!
I could eat buckeyes 24/7, lol. You both are so much fun and informative. Thanks again!
It's 10:45am and I am now hungry. I should not have watched this so early in the day!!
Allison you look fabulous in the denim !! And Eric 😁 !! Love you guys 😍
My mom made the best gotta! She followed the recipe on the back of the bag of pinhead oatmeal, but she added bay leaves and ham hocks.Nothing out there on the market comes close as to taste.
Love to see you in my city! Wow!
That looks so delicious! We Goetta get that! Thanks for the food tour!
I love watching people try Cincinnati style chili for the first time
I loved the tiny house you all stayed in Cincinnati. Did you guys rent it or find it on Air B&B??
Love love love chili 3 way, especially the veggie variety from Gold Star. Bummed you guys didn't hit Frisch's Big Boy while you were there. Thank you for showing folks that Cincy is an amazing town :)
Hofbräuhaus Hefeweizen in Northern Kentucky right across the bridge is unparalleled
Greetings Alison And Eric! What You Call Buckeye Seeds Or Nuts in The States, We in The UK Call Them Conkers From The Horse Chestnut Tree. Thought You Might Like To know, as We Have Not Heard The Saying Before! Thankyou For The Education ready To Come To The states Next year. Kind Regards To You Both And Stay Safe Y’all.
I live in florida , and love goetta can't find it anywhere down here so I have to freeze it and bring it back with me after visiting family in Oxford ohio
Just saw a second of your Cincinnati chili tasting in a Google commercial! Congrats!
The ‘buckeye’ looks lovely! It looks just like a Conker / Horse Chestnut that we have in the UK
Great video! 😎👍 Everything looked delicious! 😋
I made buckeyes the other day! We called them bulls eyes at school (in NZ). The filling is literally butter, peanut butter and icing sugar! You should totally do your next cooking show to make those!
Enjoying the food videos!!
OMG you guys were in my city! I wish I would have been able to meet you two. Please come back soon 🙂
Love you both. The best combination. Carry on. I'm hooked.
You guys need a tablecloth for your centre console for car food tours. You were stressing me out! Haha 😂
