Very nice! I’ve also seen antler cut using water. Both ends of the spectrum!

Nice, learning how the tools were made is very interesting.

Thank you for sharing!! I wondered how they would have made a soft hammer. I always thought there has to be a quicker way than sawing through it. Now I know thanks to you Will 👍👍👍

really enjoying you replicating all the ancient finds from your side of the pond, most I've only read about a little bit about, so it's very interesting to see you show how each of the ancient one's process in making their tools whether stone or Antler.. antler or bone finds are a rarity, especially with some soil area's, most of the best example's come from dry caves or overhangs here in the states
    best wishes Will

Great video. could you paint a band of the black tar around the antler where you want it to break and set that alight as well ?

As usual, it's so fascinating to watch you make these things as ancient man would have! I wonder: is this red deer still alive today, or were they megafauna that we killed off? The antler is huge, like an old elk's antlers!

Bauhauskiddo have a look at the irish elk. possibly what you are thinking of and the skeletal remains survive in entirety

MJ Murphy Thank you! I feel silly now, I looked up the red deer and it turns out they have a different name in my native Swedish ("crown deer", they were considered the kings of deer) and are very much alive. The word red misled me. And the Irish elk was a magnificent beast, I wish early humans hadn't hunted them to extinction, can you imagine seeing one of those in the wild?

no problem. they were magnificant creatures indeed!!

The antler he used wasn't a fossil.

how would you flatten out the bit that used to be attached to the stag's head? is it just natural wear? or would you grind it on a rock?

YOGSCAST Smilodon Same question over here. Anyway I think it will take that form using it and hiting over and over again the flint, and griding it on a rock ir order to get it smooth

You can get small bits from pet shops now.

Yeah I got a nice hammer/bopper antler from a Pet shop it's an elk antler piece like 10inches long with a nice hammer bit on it quite solid around 40$ though pretty pricey but worth it.
