  • Does it occasionally feel you’re making great progress towards your goals while other times it appears that nothing is happening?
Don’t be discouraged by what you cannot see, because plans can come together at the drop of a hat.

Without this video, I would have not forgiven myself and recall a quote a saw a few years ago. I've been procrastinating these past few days, doing little work per day, slowing my progress.
The quote is "You can rest but never give up."

as an entrepreneur I frequently like to watch these videos, usually a couple videos everyday , just to keep my edge on, and I must say I think this is your best one so far!!! I've had the hardest time articulating this to other people who want instant results in an age of instant messaging and fast food, the long hard grind doesn't seem very appealing, yet to me it is the key to my success.

Great Point! Even though someone may be having slow progress towards our goals, that is never a reason to stop. It is actually the times where we feel like we're not making any progress where we're actually on the brink of massive Improvement.

Timely lesson for me...I recently decided to set a goal to improve my guitar playing to a level where I can comfortably play with others...I have played a bit on and off through the years but never steady enough to really improve...since July 1 of 2018 I have played/practiced some every day and have studied theory (or some form of instruction almost every day). Musical improvement tends to plateau and I find I need to occasionally step back and motivate myself or at least remind myself of my goal.
I am 60 years old by the way so I also have to overcome the occasional negative thoughts of “I am too old for this”...I have set a personal timeframe of 30 months to get there (long story on why 30 months).
As a by product of this goal I have positive results in the following areas: eliminated some time wasting habits, enjoy just listening to music more, established a stronger daily routine, started journaling my progress (and defeats), and generally feel good about working towards a goal....Am I better at guitar after 5 months? Definitely yes....am I close to my goal...not really at the level I have in my head but I still feel like it is doable....
One last thought...I am now a strong believer in a few minutes a day doing something is magical...
Good luck to all and keep working towards your dreams!

All the important things, everything that matters, takes time. If something happens too fast, something is wrong. If a commercial promises you instant results, you need to be careful :) Excellent video. We need such concepts to spread.

this is super validating, it gives me hope that my efforts are not in vain.
Besides that, I now understand that we are only disappointed that we are making slow progress because of maybe the goal is too big! We need to set a specific small goal daily in order to succeed at the small parts bit by bit until it all accumulates daily!

Slow progress is certainly better than no progress! I lost ten pounds on low carb the first month, but haven‘t lost weight on the second. Which is fine, because I’ve learned you should have more than one metric to meaure progress. Was able to walk a little further with my dog today, and added strength training a week ago!

Slow progress towards your goals is a reason you should value your process more and your goals less. i.e. Smelling the flowers and appreciating the views on the way to the mountain top is often better experience than the mist shrouded mountain top itself.

I've been putting off cleaning the office for over 5 years because it felt overwhelming. I would do very little and it felt like it was never ending so I'd quit. I wanted to have a functional work space, but buying a drawing table and my bf, wanting a new office desk made me motivated enough to start the cleaning process once and for all last month. We bought the office desk and I am proud to say that, after a month of chipping small bits after small bits at it, I finally finished cleaning yesterday. :) It may seem insignificant to most people, but I am very proud of myself and the hard work I put on to accomplish this! It took a whole lot of motivation videos and will power, but I'm now motivated to accomplish even more stuff! Consistency is key and long term goals.

What are the goals? This reminds me of my career, where I hustled my ass off without a specific purpose and then was in the right place at the right time with the right skills accomplished things I would not have envisioned at the start and then was happy with what came next. I am now retired. I have been learning and honing my skills without a definite goal. Perhaps it will happen again? That is the best feeling. On the other hand, there is something to be said with the acceptance that comes with getting older. It is surprising, but surveys in surveys of old people, they are often happy "just because."

In my case… I’m making No Progress, same stuff different day… so, after a recent turn of events… and after a bombshell and some uncertainty…… my goals, are Not Meant To Be…
I ended up officially ending all that I do, to only answer to other things. Time to Accept Defeat, and Accept Reality.
At this point, I can’t take anymore Risks that won’t pay off - time to Move On, I can always fill in the shoes of someone else in another field…. While they thrive , besides… when it comes to Low Class areas… somebody’s gotta do it… I guess that’s me from now on.
