Pre COVID, we visited Skirakawa. That was the fall of 2019. Big difference from beautiful autumn colors to all that snow coming in from the Sea of Japan.

It looks cleaner because it snows at some point almost every day from early December to late March. All the snirt is quickly covered by a fresh fall.

40:11山の尾根尾根の積雪の景色とても美しいですね。私はイギリスの北の方で30年居ますがここまでの豪雪をまだ産まれて一度も見た事がありません。記録的な大雪でしたね、もう驚きの量ですね、私は長州で大雪は経験がないです。どうか富山の皆様お身体と事故にお気をつけられて下さいねー。コロナで世界がめちゃめちゃです。いつか収束したら里帰りを許される時期を待ちます。食べ物が美味しくないのでここでのロックダウンは外食を普段からしない私にはロックダウンで自分の味しか味わえないので少々飽き飽き。日本でプロの作る本当の旨味の効いた美味しい外食を安全に出来る日が来たら是非ともと思います。このままコロナで美味しいもの見ないまま死ぬのは嫌です、だから巣篭もりして昨年が過ぎました。今年も似たようなものなのか、、、桜がまた見れないとかになると美しい日本の桜の時期は本当に悔しいですね。どうかこの春は去年よりはマシでありますようお祈りします。日本🇯🇵頑張っていて下さい。いつまでもいつまでも日本は日本であって欲しい。本当に綺麗でフルーツ、魚、お米、世界一美味しいです。日本🇯🇵 がんばろー。💖

Wish we could have this much snow in London - then I could wear my trapper hat. As it is it's not been cold enough to yet. Coldest it's been so far (in London) is around 2 degrees C. Suppose ithat is cold enough, but without any snow it doesn't feel right to wear it yet. Will have to keep wearing my beanie instead!

The temperature is -1 ° C. It's not very cold. In fine weather, it will be over + 5 ℃.
Since the water temperature of the northern sea (Sea of Japan) is high this year, the seawater evaporates a lot and snow clouds occur.
The monsoon (north wind) carries clouds to Japan and becomes snow.
South Korea, which is further north, has much lower temperatures but less snowfall.

The cold spell is all over Asia right now. Most of the countries has recorded their lowest temperatures these past days. Even here in the Philippines, our lowest was 9.4° (Atok, Benguet) 🥶❄️
