  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is my first Android Phone. This is what I think about it as an iPhone "Power User". I also compared it to my current main phone iPhone 7 Plus. I'll be comparing it to the upcoming iPhone 8 and iPhone X as well.
    I hope you enjoy this review.

    The S Pen is one of the best features of the NOTE line. There are 30 minute videos on TH-cam covering all that can be done with it, which really makes using a small device like these phones handle like a much larger powerful productive system.

      If you don't know what to use the S-PEN for, then you'll be massively surprised. My favs are Smart Select, Glimpse, Note taking, Scroll screen capture and of course the ability to annotate any screen, clip it and send it. If only every phone could do this.

    Not sure how I ended up here, but very glad I did. This is the best comparison of iPhone 7+ to Note 8 I have seen. I have a 7+ and it will probably be my last iPhone, not impressed with Apple any more. So out of curiosity I am shopping around for my next Android phone. You have sold me on the Note 8. You Sir have a very unique style and personality. You should have way more than 331k subs. You have one more today.

      7 mos. later.... RAW I am still looking, so many good Android phones out there right now I cant decide but will not be the note 8. They all have good points and all have negative points. I am still using my iPhone 7 + for now

  • @Gandrewjm
    @Gandrewjm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    I am in a similar situation and I was a mainly iPhone user until recently. I just got a Note 8 and so far it has been an incredible experience. It's amazing how much more fun and immersive it is. I am also surprised at how often I am using the SPen as it so convenient and simple to make quick notes and reminders. One difference I have noticed with the review is that I am getting much better battery life with the Note than with the iPhone. At the end of the day the Note is at about 30% battery, whereas my iPhone was rarely ever able to get through the day.
    Anyway it's only been a few days so let's see if I'm still happy after 2 or 3 months, but so far the Note has been awesome.

      DamonsMistrisVampire it's been about a month since I have had my Note 8 and I have never been happier with a phone. A family member got an iPhone 8 plus and she is already trying to get it changed to an S8 Plus (or a Note 8 if her carrier gives a discount). To be honest, if you prefer iPhone, then get an iPhone 7plus and save some money as the user experience feels the same as the iPhone 8 plus. Or wait and see what the iPhone X is like.

    Hi iPhonedo beyciğim,
    I'm really happy to see you reviewing an Android phone. So, here some tips for you;
    1- You can change the swipe settings of the keyboard. One of them is writing by swiping, which is activated on your device. One of them is cursor movement by swiping. You can change it from phone settings.
    2- Chrome doesn't have one-tap-to-go-top feature, but Samsung browser does. You can try it out :)

    • @PrashantBidhuri
      @PrashantBidhuri 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The apps don't. The Samsung Browser supports this feature so far and the in built apps like the Phone, messages etc. All the samsung apps support this basically. Not third party apps. At least not Yet.

    Bixby is for controlling your phone so try saying "Hi Bixby lock phone" or "Hi Bixby set a reminder". Google is for asking certain questions that would search the Web, you can also set reminders and alarms and such things like that with Google, were Bixby comes in strong is controlling your phone 100% setting alarms turn the brightness down volume pretty much anything that requires you use your hands Bixby can do just by using your voice whilst Google can not.There are hundreds of more things you can do but that is what I noted you seemed slightly confused about in your video so I posted this comment. I hope it helped. 😊

      Androids are not reliable. , Apps doesn’t works perfectly because they have not been designed to work exclusively in note 8 ecosysytem, so many times apps show unexpected behaviour.Plus Samsung also has very bad track record in providing updates.

    • @toninj71
      @toninj71 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not exactly accurate, I'm an android user who happens to own an I pad 12.9 tablet and a Samsung tablet . My son is a die harder apple fan and there have been times where he's thrown his I phone down because of an app not working correctly. No software is infallible. I also find myself geared more to my Samsung devices than my I pad might be because I feel as though while IOS is a little smoother I still find myself locked in and forced to live in a controlled system. Ugh and all those freaking apps stuck on the home screen looks so juvenile I know it's a caveat of mine , but I actual enjoy seeing my wall paper without having apps splattered across the screen. Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing IOS but having both systems I just prefer my android system I like the freedom and the Note 8 comes encrypted and since I've had it I've had no problems with it and usually after a month Samsung phones start to lag but that 64g of ram is a blessing allowing me to multi task and keep all my work documents encrypted and secure. You are right about those slow updates Samsung does lack in that area, Upon using my Ipad I've had some lag which I was shocked by because all I've ever heard is that apple apps don't crash., I like to go back to say once more that no system is infallible and again I've seen my son have issues with his I phone apps crashing or not responding he broke his last phone throwing to the ground because an app kept freezing after he updated his phone thinking it would fix the problem (bad temper and impatient he is). In closing I think we all buy what we feel works best for us. I've had the pleasure of using and owning both systems, I don't regret buying either tablet. Again I'm not bashing IOS. Be Blessed

    Hey man great video. I have the phone an love it so far. Quick question though. When you zoomed in on TV e screen did you change the screen resolution to QHD in the settings before doing this? It seems like it's still set to FHD..

    • @cuezaireekaa
      @cuezaireekaa 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Gugger I was also wondering if he changed his note 8 to 1440 because it ships with 1080 by default.

    • @ericmagana12
      @ericmagana12 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      cuezaireekaa no it ships at 1440p default how do I know I have the note 8. Secondly just because the resolution is lowered doesn't mean the pixels just disappear so that wouldn't make a difference

    • @BGuggz
      @BGuggz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eric Magana That's interesting, I have the Note 8 also and it shipped at FHD (well FHD+ technically because of the screen's wider aspect ratio). And no, the pixels don't disappear, but everything on the screen is scaled down to the lower resolution if the phone is set to FHD+ so there would be a difference in quality. Especially if you zoom into the photo.

    • @ericmagana12
      @ericmagana12 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Gugger Screens don't work like that because it's still the pixels on the phone that aren't changing. Yes it's scaled down but again it doesn't change anything when you zoom onto the screen is my point

    • @BGuggz
      @BGuggz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Magana I think the point you are trying to make is that the phone is still capable of outputting the same amount of pixels reguardless of what setting you have it on. That I agree with. But the whole point of scaling the Note 8 or S8's screen down to FHD+ is that it's saves battery life by only outputting images in that particular resolution. That means if your eyes are good enough or if you zoom in on a photo via screen shot or taking macro photo, you will notice a difference in resolution of that picture. If you have a Note 8 you can give it a try. Or even a computer monitor. If you change the resolution on a computer monitor and then look at the same picture you will see a difference. So going back to how that applies here, if he took the picture when the phone was on FHD+ instead of WQHD+ then what we see here on the TH-cam video won't be crisp as the phone is capable of.

    Great review. I switched to the Note 8 from an iPhone. I had been using iPhones for a very long time, and was in the market for a new phone. I couldn't justify the X at $1000. The last android phone I had was the S3. I couldn't be happier with the Note 8. There are some things I don't like. The keyboard is congested. Bixby is good at best. Overall I have no regrets.

    I have the note 3 and it still great and coves all my needs . That said seeing the 8 in action makes it very desirable. Price point just kills me I can get a 65 in BIG screen 4k tv , a killer laptop or tablet , Mavic pro , awesome lens for my camera, 2 video gimbles and the list goes on and on. Nonetheless if I had a disposable income this particular phone would most certainly be my choice. Love your Vlogs / reviews / sense of humor . Really great stuff !

      Richie Cunningham big screen tv is nice. I have a 55 inch curved samsung SUHD tv for 1200 but the note 8 is good as well with a 1440p super amoled PANEL so it is great for media, video stabilization is a non issue as OIS is buttery smooth. The only thing is yeah you can get a decent laptop for this price but a really nice laptop still costs a lot more than that. I'd say I don't regret my note 8 at all

Expandable memory, changeable battery, customize with widgets, the display everything looks vibrant and HD, the third party apps such as showbox, emulators and the list goes on! But iPhone is good for business which I use for my job but I'm getting the note 8 after work! My first upgrade in years because I was so happy with the note 4 but it's time!

      ...with that said, I still hate the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the Note 8, however I love the iris feature and would still use it over the fingerprint even if it were in a better position.

      iPhonedo Hi! Great video, first one I see from your channel. I have 1 question: in Note 8, as well as S8, you can change the screen resolution from the settings, and they are by default at Full HD+, did you change it to QHD when doing the zoom in on the screen? Also, you can activate the Swype to control cursor in the keyboard settings. Keep doing excellent videos!

    As an iPhone user looking to move to note:
    1. Are backups on phone done daily and automatically? Ie. If I lose my Samsung note phone, can I go to the store pick a new note phone and have it look identical to my old phone with all the photos in the albums, all my contacts and text messages?
    2. If I enter a contact on my phone, will it show up right away on my computer? As on the iPhone with Mac?
    3. If I take a photo on my phone, can I see it that night on my computer without doing anything?

      Not quite "exactly" the same way. . .that's why I used the word "easier". . .it's "similar" but the options are much better including, giving you access to a clipboard so you can paste things that you've copied to the clipboard days or even weeks ago. Also my comment was in direct response of the poster not knowing how to do it. It's not about being competitive. . but it is about letting him know that it can be done. . he just didn't know.

      Out of the box there are a ton of features enabled that suck battery pretty good. With a bit of tweaking I get better battery life with my s8+ than I did with my iPhone 6S plus

    I’m having a hard time picking between iPhone X and Note 8. I have a iPhone now but I used to have the S7 loved it but since the wife has a iPhone some texts wouldn’t go through and pictures and videos were blurry. Some times I wouldn’t receive calls as well. I think if it weren’t for that I wouldn’t have a problem buying the note right now. Has anyone else had these problems?
