The great screen protector debate.... I haven't used one for 8 years. They are far uglier than a fine scratch on the screen (which I have never had either)
My favorite phone ever had. Crazy multitasking, great graphic, fast, good battery super fancy. My wife bought the iPhone X...she got disappointed returned it and got a Note 8 LOL
I recently got to hold the note 8 and the FINGER PRINT SCANNER IS FINE! I feel like at this point everybody is just saying it because they feel its the popular thing to say. As long as you don't wear a size medium glove or smaller you should be alright. I know the phone is big that's why it's a Note. STOP COMPLAINING!
Still though, would be better with the fingerprint scanner somewhere else...I hate the current location, it just begs you to smudge up your camera at the same time... Fingers crossed for a fingerprint scanner behind the screen for the next generation :)
I don't have that problem smudging the camera just because of my case my finger hits the corner of the case every time and then I slide ride into the scanner but I do understand the problems others are having but yeah having one on the back would be easy also. We shall see what they do.I think im good until the note 10 tho lol
I love the blue light filter. I used F.lux on iPhone for years and cant live without it. I switched from the iPhone 6s plus to the Note 8 and have never been happier with a phone.
I've refused to buy anything Apple ever since they tried to force other computer makers out of business by claiming copyright infringement for calling their machines "personal computers." When the IBM PC came out in 1982, Apple's selection of software for its proprietary APPLE II numbered in the dozens while software for the open-source IBM PC numbered in the hundreds. Two years later, Apple released the Macintosh that had a grand total of four business- or school-oriented programs written for it while IBM PC had fifty different titles including programming languages that were originally developed for IBM mainframes. By 1986, Apple had reached the 100 software titles plateau while IBM had several thousand software titles from categories not available on Apple computers. The other major advantage of the IBM PC was that it was an open source design that permitted other companies to manufacture perip herals for it such as disk drives, graphics cards and modems - which was very unlike Apple who made their hardware to be proprietary - and still does! Something as innocuous as the USB connector from a power supply that attaches to a smartphone or tablet, every manufacturer except Apple has standardized the design on that connector. For these and other reasons, I have never purchased anything made by Apple (and never will) beyond the original APPLE II (which I replaced with the open-source Franklin clone of it that was far better than Apple's proprietary box. BTW, Apple successfully sued Franklin for patent infringement and put it out of business which foreshadowed the cellphone wars between it and Samsung. Fortunately, Samsung stayed in business and has turned out smartphones that put the vaunted the iPhone to shame. I now carry a late model Samsung Galaxy while the wife has an iPhone (with a GPS navigation system that constantly gives her faulty directions while mine never fails to get me to where I asked to go),
Nice vid, thanks. Getting my Note 8 tomorrow. Note 4 was stolen from me in 2014 and I was on the S5 mini since. Big change coming and looking forward to it.
I've always wanted to point this out that in South Korea having the navigation bar order in "Recent-Home-Back" is the norm, that's why they prob didn't have the other option! I was so surprised when I found out that people in the US were not used to that order :D
Uni May I keep it Recent-Home-Back just because that's how it came out of the box and it feels good that way. On my old phone it's Back-Home-Recent and that's how I prefer it for the old phone
I don't recommend using face recognition, yes indeed it is quicker than the iris scanner but iris scanner is securer since the phone uses an actual sensor instead of the camera.
Eddy Nelson Lopez the face recognition can't be fooled by a picture right now. Samsung has fix it a little bit. I don't want to say it's saver, but it's not that bad anymore. :)
Lemony Snicket They say that because it isn't secure. The person I originally replied to incorrectly stated that the Note 8 can't be fooled by a picture anymore.
Tip for your video- next time try to move the camera in a position so that your phone is angled straight up and down, and not tilted diagonal in the video. It makes it kind of a pain to watch. Regardless, I appreciate the video!
I am a Samsung rep, you put together a really great bundle of features! Some simple some beyond useful i.e. the trusted locations for the lock screen. (locations does have to be turned on) for those who struggle to get it working.
This is exactly what I'm thinking. I mean reviewers kept going on and on about how big the phone is, how out of reach everything is. Meanwhile, here I am perfectly able to reach most of the screen (and the finger scanner) with ease. Only downside to the placement is that it's close-isa to the camera lenses, but even that has improved slightly since the S8, thanks to the flash acting as a buffer.
I've once said that I would like as palm to tip measurement and a width measurement on one of these videos as every reviewer either misjudges their hand size or are completely clueless to what makes a small/ large hand
Did he say not being able to reach it? I don't remember that but the location is awkward. I tend to hold the phone on my pinkie for balance and my finger will not reach it. Also, the sensor doesn't always work very well. It definitely needs some improvements.
I got mine yesterday. Love it. The live messenger feature is a blast. I am having more fun with it then is healthy...You can find all kinds of "creative" things to do with it. ;)
You can kill the bixby button in the option panel of bixby. I hit that button a least two times a day and I was really starting to hate my note8 but now by killing that button it’s perfect. You can still use the button by holding it for more then one second so it’s there a helpfull.
The Note 8 is the best smartphone period. Apple's presentation was disappointing. I was hoping for much more and wanted to be convinced to buy it. IPhone 8 was a joke of an so called new phone. IPhone X has face recognition and animated emojis...WOOOW!!! But all Apple fanboys and girls will state the features that they announced today were all new and never done before including cellular capability on the Apple watch and 4k TV.
One thing I actually did like about the Iphone X though, is the ability to have both face scan and retina scan activated at the same time... I hope Samsung gets around to updating their software so it is possible, since one works in bright light and the other in dim light...
I did the same thing! Have mine sitting next to me. I really like it.. I just don't like the washed out front facing camera and no one can hear me when I send Facebook videos because it's so badly compressed. The back cam is also a bit washed out compared to iOS. I have to constantly tweak the colors. Only reason why I'll be going back to my 7+ -- also iMessage.
Upgraded from my Note 4 (I really enjoyed removable battery...) to Note 8 and I am very happy :) first thing you have to do to save your battery life i to change the background to pitch black.

the back button being on the right thing - the og galaxy note had that which i think might be the reason they kept that option. i remember when they first switched the right button to the recent apps button it got me so frustrated😂

Hello, When you are trying to get to the lock screen from the always on display am I suppose to be double tapping the the little square button on the always on display.
Sean porter It is an overlay that you have to install. Just search up "Galaxy S8/S8+/Note8 Navigation Bar Overlay" and it should lead to some XDA links where you can download the overlay apk's and you have to restart your device after installing.
There's the option to customize your google search bar. Just go to the three dots on your Gsearch bar widget and tap on customize. You can make it rounded or even change the logo
I got mine last night and love it so far. A question I have is can you customize text tones and ringtones for each contact? I had that on my Note 5 and was able to tell who was calling and texting without looking at my phone.
I can't stand having a back button on the left, too far from my thumb. Like he said though, very courteous to make that an option now that they ditched the softkeys. And what is with all the hating on the Samsung keyboard? Seems like I am the only one that really appreciates a dedicated row for numbers that no other keyboard I have found has.

Jon-Cameron Bates some people like to resell their old phone when they're done with and the better it looks, the more value you get.
