      Before the renaming of Sierra Leone i believes the limbas were part of the empires in Africa. As they are well known for humility and probably in small numbers they kept quiet in their little corner. The fact that you cannot trace them or their language from anywhere is what baffles me.

      The fact remains that as early as the 3rd century the Limbas were discovered around the wara wara mountains and remains of bones found came out to prove that they were living there from they first century, other tribes of the coast like bullom sherbro, bullous, nablus, cocolis etc were discovered around the 14th century philanthropist concluded that they were also sailours who found it ideal to settled there not too long before there discovery, but however national historians try to cover up facts on their regional bases

    The mende people are descendants of the thirteenth century mail empire that migrated from Sudan Mali empire to settle in Sierra Leone. The oral tradition of the mende tell of a peaceful migration into the are that may have spanned the period from 200 to 1500 AD.

      @@bigdawg9782 We was never in captivity, we the Mende are mixture of the Mane Mandinka’s from the great Mali empire who conquered what is now Liberia and the Southern and eastern part of Sierra Leon and the Bollum people. But we lean more to our Mandinka heritage hence our weapons like the Toma sword which is one of the Mandin swords used by the Mandinka, Mandingo, Malinke and other Mande tribes.

    This story is not correct. The Mendes must have come from the Mali empire that used to habit most Mande people of which the Mendes have a lot of linguistical similarities. While the Temnes belong to the Mel ethnic group mostly found along the coast from present day Guinea Conakry to Sierra Leone. There's all evidence to show that they are one of the ingenious tribes in Sierra Leone. They only happen to be found in the southern part of Guinea Conakry along the coast. Temnes have a lot of similarities linguistically with Sheboro Krim Bullom in Sierra Leone and Baga Landoma and Mikifore in Guinea Conakry. They are mostly fishing and farming communities

      This was my point on Jimmy Kandeh’s post is how can a people who where documented by the Portuguese in the mid 1400s to be occupying the Hinterland of Sierra Leone be considered to have run from a Jihad that took place in 1725 from Futa Jalon when they where well established with Kingdoms like Koya with a ruling house historically documented on the coast of SL,

    This tribal breakdown is interesting and may explain why so many Mende were sold into the hell of the African Maafa (slave trade) for the Portuguese. Since your focus is more on the differences among ethnicities, instead of unity, then who betrayed the Mende to the brutality of our enemies - was it the "indigenous" or "immigrants"? This presents Mende as "invaders", and Temne as "immigrants" in Salone, with no acknowledgement of any unity. Salone suffers to this day.

    The world's history told us that humanity first started in East Africa, so all of us in various places around the globe are immigrants one way or the other. Whether the Loko, Limbas, Temnes, Mendes, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and more. We all migrated to the various countries and continents that we are living today... and mostly in the humans exodus/migration there are often wars of conquest/supremacy, and the dominant group always rule... The Temnes are the dominant group in Sierra Leone and they are at the heart of any good or bad things that have been happening in Sierra Leone throughout. Temnes are the main founders of Sierra Leone, so stop the hate Temnes owned the northwest of Sierra Leone and there's no stupid historian or journalists that can spinn or change that fact ok. Temnes are the most unique people in Sierra Leone and everywhere they are. Temnes open their doors for foreigners/ other tribes to come and live in their territories/lands without any dime... so because of our kindness some you people wanted to take us for granted right. But very soon we will stop selling our lands and start to implemet the land leasing system in all our Temnes territories in Sierra Leone to deter our potential future enemies... i believe If we don't do this some of you guys will even get more embolden in the future to come at us more harder because we seems friendly, loving, kind, carefree and more. Before the Temnes were insensitive to tribalism (they were the least tribalistic people in SL), but now the bio's administration had open our eyes... and now some of you guys from the tiny tribes in the country have started talking about who owned territories or who don't owned territories in Sierra Leone... but very soon the generous Temnes will stop being nice to you people (our frienemies). We know the tribes that hated us and always wanted to see our downfall... but we are strong smart hardworking people, just as our history stated it. So no clueless fool that will ever succeed in spinning our history and ownership. We are strong active people and our actions, positions and possessions speaks volume about us. Temnes first encountered the Portuguese and British, and Temnes are the ones who negotiated with the colonial power for the creation of Freetown and Sierra Leone. After all these undisputed fact you people still have the rotten courage to forge our history in a way for us to look lesser... but anyway we are the warriors and we will always win no matter what.

      To be honest nobody moves to Temne areas except Northerner’s. Temnes on the other hand are found ALL over Sierra Leone due to them being business oriented. They are in all towns and villages and especially Freetown. After the war their numbers exploded in the Western Area and they never went back upline.

    • @bubakay8956
      @bubakay8956 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YouGoLearn Really you are not well informed!! Now use this following info to research about theTemnes leaders in the NorthWest of SierraLeon before the Portuguese and the British came, the people that the British negotiated with to housed the free slaves (the krios) in the Temne territory (Rokiamp)now called today Freetown. Search about these:(1) the koya chiefdom (2) King Tommy/King Tom (3) King gimmy (4)King Nahim Bana... The Temne's Port Loko District alone almost swallow Freetown itself. And also for your information the colonial Freetown started from upgun, cline Town to the west of Freetown (regent, lumley, Aberdeen). the Temnes Hosted the krios in Freetown and they have been part of the making of Freetown and Sierra Leone since day one and nothing will change that fact. Temnes are business minded people and they travel every where to explore opportunities. During the early 20th century when diamond was discovered in the south east of the country. Many Temnes migrated to those mining areas. When the war breakout some of them returned back to their father's land (the northwest). But some never came beck. Some of them are the so called mendes and konos today with surnames like kamara, koroma etc. The Temnes can be found everywhere in Sierra Leone, but their true home is in the North West. So calling them migrants in their father's and mother's land it's just crazy 🤪. Temnes are very hospitable and highly tolerant people. They opened up the space for everyone(other tribes/nationals)to live and do what ever things they like in their chiefdoms and Districts in the country (theTemnes territories)... Because of the scope the Temnes gave to certain groups in that parts of the country, that's why some of those ungrateful strangers have started feeling entitled and trying to say all kind of bullshit against the US the Temnes. But we have your medicine.

    • @YouGoLearn
      @YouGoLearn 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bubakay8956 You sound like a tribalist. Like I said not much people move to Temne line, not too many economic opportunities to attract other tribes there.
      Also not too sure why you typed all of that, everyone knows that the British purchased the Western Area and Bonthe Island as the crown colony. Were you aware that in 1801, the Temne attacked Freetown. The assault failed, resulting instead in the expulsion of the Temne from the area due to their aggressive nature. Go read about it it is recorded Freetonian history!
      If you think every Kamara & Koroma in Mende line is a Temne descendant you must be smoking tribalistic Jamba. Only in Sierra Leone that surnames like Conteh, Koroma, Koroma, & Sesay are linked with Temnes. They are MANDINGO names in origin. Due to Madingoes becoming RULERS over the Temnes you all adopted their surname’s woefully. Plenty of those people with those set of surnames in MENDELINE will vehemently deny having Temne ancestry and inform you they are Madingo. Specifically Konyanka Madingo in the eastern province. Please understand that TODAY.
      But like you said there are numerous Temnes scattered all over the country , but only a FEW returned back to the north after the war. The all stayed in the south-eastern towns were they respectively settled and you and I both can see the negative affect they have had in Freetown. Natives including ALL TRIBES, but more especially Temne have ran Freetown to the ground since the war in every regard. They cross Waterloo EVERYDAY and come settle in informal settlements and some even sleep in the street.

    • @bubakay8956
      @bubakay8956 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YouGoLearn you talking about me/us being tribalistic, 😜you really have late feeling nigga. In the current polarised Sierra Leone, you don't need to have doubt or pointing fingers at some of us the Temnes who are willing to defending our tribe and put things straight. Because the current government itself is tribalistic...
      Now according to your name on this channel I know that you are a descendant of the ex slaves (krio). And it says a lot how ungrateful and sellout you guys are, no wonder some part of Nigeria refused to housed some of your forefathers. And you are the same ex slaves who caused the war in Liberia and later came in to Sierra leone.
      Now the settlement of Freetown, colonial Freetown was not sold to anyone there's no prove, documents or receipts to that. In the Temnes culture and traditions land is not for sale but for lease. So if your forefathers fabricated that lie to you that Freetown was purchased, then it's a big lie. We all know that there were many batches of ex slaves ships which arrived in Rokiamp (Freetown), which most of those loyalist died because of disease and attacks by the natives. Freetown colony failed many times until when the British came into good terms with the natives (Temnes) before the colony finally flourished with the help of the natives...
      You said Temnes were expelled from colonial Freetown to Waterloo!! It's a fu*king big lie. Colonial Freetown stopped at Cline Town and upgun etc. Do you know how many times when the loyalist arses were kicked by the natives, when the British continously came into the their rescue? The hut tax war was one of them.
      We all know British had conquered and colonised many part of the world. Where many of those places they brought their agents with them to subdue the natives... which most of them the natives later liberate their land and kicked out the imperialist and his crew, Zimbabwe is an example of that...
      Now talking about economic opportunities/natural resources. Temnes govern the marine resources (fisheries), Agriculture and more. We have gold, little bit of diamond and a huge chunk of the best iron ore in the world (at Tonkolili and port loko Districts). if you don't know all the economic boost that Sierra Leone has ever had came from the sales of iron ore.
      Now talking about surnames, let me debunk your foolish statement which you may learned from some clueless oral history... First of all the Temnes have a unique culture and traditions which they fight to preserve throughout history, no tribe/group ever infiltrate them period. You said kamara and koroma are common madingos surnames 😛!! You need to learn more or move out of salone and explore the other mane/mande tribes or people ok. Fyi the only tribe that has similar surnames from neighbouring Guinea are the Soso/Susu. Some Temnes surnames have meaning. Example kamara in Temne =king/ Royal branch(es) or Royal offsprings.
      We are not like you guys who don't have root and often carry white man names...
      Freetown again, you said that the hardworking Temnes have destroyed Freetown? May be is because they demolished your board houses and build sober structures right🤓. What about your corrupt krio chief justice and judge (Fisher) who connived with evil bio to destroyed the whole country are they Temnes right? Twwww Ungrateful people everywhere. Now have this in your head no tribe has ever love or done great things for SierraLeone compare to the Temnes. That's the undisputed fact. Our aggressiveness is our strength and we embraced it, so don't preach to me/ us.
