- In this video, I will be sharing with you how I treat the powdery mildew on my roses. There are different ways to tackle the issue. Either by using Neem oil, baking soda, and milk. It’s easier to make a decision on which of this ways to take considering the availability of the product for powdery mildew. If you are new to my channel, I’m Evelyn. I’m gardening in Southern California previously Zone 10a. Thank you for watching this video. #rosegarden #containergardening

Where was your video last year 😂. This is honestly the best video I've found. Thank you So much.
You’re welcome. Greatly appreciated your time watching this video.
Great video, Evelyn. I must try this on my rose bushes. I just noticed white spots on my rose bushes today. It wasn't a powdery mildew but white spots scattered on the surface of the leaves. I'm assuming that this was the start of powdery mildew.
I wish I can see a picture of the white spots on your roses that you are referring to.
Thank you. This is very helpful. Will you do a followup video so we can see how this works?
Yes I will
Thank you. This is the first time I’ve noticed the mildew on my roses. I wasn’t sure what to do until I started my research.
You can also defoliate instead of using Neem oil or milk. Sometimes when it’s only mild powdery mildew, you don’t even have to do anything.
So how do I determine to use the milk mixture or Neem oil? I have powder mildew on 1 plant and spider mites on the other. Should I use the Neem oil on both?
You can use Neem oil on both if you have it available.
Does the milk solution smell since it will sit on the plant and get into the soil and eventually spoil?
That is what others say that the milk stink and I thought of the same thing. Until I tried it multiple times and I haven’t really noticed any foul smell.
Does it matter what kind of milk? Dairy or not
I used whole milk. I haven’t tried non dairy milk
How much neem oil? Do you mix oil with anything else?
At 3:37 she tells you the measures……
If I remember correctly, I use 3 tablespoons of neem oil per one gallon of water. I didn’t mix anything else.
@kathysmith9993 Thank you for guiding @mammahomay9389. And thank you both for watching this video. Welcome to my channel.
My research indicates that Neem oil should be mixed with Castile soap, or ani regular dish soap, and water; the Castile soap acts as an emulsifier. Be aware though that after using Neem oil in a sprayer ensure that you immediately clean your sprayer.Neem oil has the tendency to gel inside your spray mechanism and will make it inoperable.
