Me too.....saw one on the side of the highway yesterday and nearly turned off on the next exit.....but told myself " Explain exactly what another ratchet is going to do for you? " I kept going ....but I hate the voices in my head.
I didn't know much about them either. One thing I like about doing these videos, is it sparks me to do some research and the read the history of these old companies. Pretty cool stuff out there. Herbrand was around since the the 1880's and I think they lasted until the 60's? Thanks for watching!
Howdy!! Thank you for making these restoration videos! Excellent work! What lube did you use on these ratchets. The Blackhawk was 3inOne oil so no grease hardens from sitting. I use a light coat of Super lube and am curious what you prefer.
Well, thank you for watching! On the Herbrand I did actually use some lube instead of the 3in1. I used Super Lube. I think that is a pretty good all around lube. I used a purple colored multi-purpose as well, but liking the Super Lube due to the neutral color. I should have shown that on the video, thanks.
Hi Ron, thanks! I use Super Lube, I like it because it's not a dark brown or purple color and works well. I don't use a lot of grease in the ratchets I'm not going use, normally just a little 3in1 oil.
DUDEZILLA!!! I don't know what it is BUT I freaking LOOOOOOOVE old rachets and cleaning them up!!!!!!!!
Thanks Andy. Something satisfying about hearing that clicking sound!

Both ratchets look great! I like the design of that selector switch.
Thanks Magdad, they are smooth as silk!
Looks great their nice heavy-duty ratchets and a nice piece of history.
Thank you, I really enjoy fixing up ratchets!
Both of them turned out really nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, didn't think I could save the one, but it actually is a very good ratchet. Thanks for watching.
Those are two of the coolist ratchets i have seen. From rags to riches for sure. As always a job well done. You had me from the start on this one.,
Thank ya Dale, I was just glad the handle wasn’t broken on the one with the cheater bar!
I never heard of that brand of ratchet but they look well made and you done a great job cleaning them up putting them back to work. Thanks David

First time I came across the name I was thinking it was marketing for girls. Turns out they make top shelf stuff.
Beautiful job David. Those things look like new! Well done.
Thanks Mr Bill. Not sure about new, but definitely better!
Nice work David! Thanks for breaking it down and explaining the process.
