Dude my favorite thing about the hero of time is as soon as he sees his descendant stuck in a form not his own and suffering he howls the song of healing to him to try to help. Literally almost cried at that part of TP.

In Breath of the Wild, there are references honoring The Hero of Time and the Sages. There’s Zelda’s knighting Speech, A few of the carvings of Zora history reference him and Princess Ruto, and Mipha’s Diary also references them when describing her feelings towards BOTW Link. And 3 of the Devine Beasts are named after the Sages in OOT, with the Zora’s history directly referring to Ruto when talking about how they named Vah Ruda. Personally I think that The Hero of Twilight carried on the Memory of The Hero of Time (his Ancestor by Blood) and told of him and his trials to Zelda, who made moves to record it as official Hyrule history. Something the other species of the Kingdom took to as well.
Here's the problem with that: there is a lot of evidence showing that it could be in all three of the timelines. (personally, I think it's none of them and it's a separate timeline.)

11:19 This is entirely irrelevant to the discussion of alignment, but Link actually _keeps_ the Triforce of Courage when Zelda sends him back to reclaim his lost time. This was something neither of them expected and causes the "Divine Prank" referenced in Twilight Princess. Because Link in the past now has a piece of the Triforce, the Triforce in the past splits anyway and sends the Wisdom and Power pieces off to inhabit Zelda and Ganondorf. This is how Ganondorf survives his execution and has to be sent to the Twilight Realm as a last resort. It's also why Twilight Princess Link already has the Triforce mark on his hand when you start the game; he's one of the few Links in the series to have a canonical blood relation to a past Link, so he already possesses the Triforce of Courage.
The Triforce isn't hereditary except when it's physically passed on from one person to another. Link has the Triforce of Courage in TP because he's ALSO the reincarnation of his grandpa and it was soulbound. The LIGHT FORCE is hereditary. You mixed up your forces.
7:19 it's not really theft tho, is it? Like you say, Ingo bet Epona in the race and Link won, meaning she is lawfully his. Ingo attempting to renege on the bet after losing fair and square doesn't make Link taking Epona stealing.
Wouldn't that make it neutral or lawful neutral. Ingo betted Epona in the race and if Link won she would be his. Upon winning Ingo tries to renege on his end by locking him in the ranch and planning to turn Link into Ganondorf, the ruling, but evil, authority figure that Link opposes. Since Link escapes a more of a means of self-persevation and to ensure the deal is honored the two alignments that I stated prior make more sense.
Regarding the Fairy Ocarina (the one Saria gave Link), my memory is very vague but iirc the manga adaptation featured Ganondorf getting his hands on it and then destroying it in a rage when he realized it wasn’t the Ocarina of Time. The manga’s canonicity is very questionable of course, but I enjoy this take far more than the idea that Link just straight-up ditched a keepsake from his best and oldest friend as soon as he got a new instrument.
The manga is considered non-canonical, but I def subscribe to the "fairy ocarina was broken" camp. Maybe in the game it was as simple as the clay ocarina being broken when Link was trounced by that spell.
Why has it taken me this long to realize this, but hear me out. Curse of Strahd and Majora’s maks are fairly similar, demiplanes/parallel dimensions, cursed or undead denizens forced to relive their miserable life in an endless cycle, and an outsider helping to save this doomed place. So yeah probably why I still love both.
Fun fact: In the Manga adaptation of Ocarina of Time 7 years before the Fire Temple events, Link was friends with Baby Volvagia Ganondorf cursed the baby dragon and it grew up to be the Dragon Link slays But, in this very scene in the manga. Link is seen crying before letting an Arrow loose killing his past friend
I would love to see an Alignment of Shantea from the Shantea games, Those games are fun and goofy leading to some fun and interesting choices from the main character, a little like with Austin Powers. Maybe do Risky Boots too.

Plus Zelda did not know she had the triforce of wisdom at the time when link came back from the future. The sign on the back his hand is proof that was needed for king to believe that ganondorf was a bad like zelda said he was.
There’s also a manga that reveals link befriended volvagia as a child before Gannon cursed it. The interaction between the human incarnation from hyrule warriors and link is reference to said manga.
Link going from a child, to a Hero, to a forgotten warrior to then turn into a shade full of regrets that only gets to pass on to rest in peace after he's trained the next protector of the kingdom/world from the hands of Ganon makes him a chaotic good in my opinion
If I had a nickel for every time a fish lady got cucked in a Zelda game I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I personally never played and Legend of Zelda game at all but I know enough of the story for atleast The Hero of Time, and seeing his story play out especially his life after Majora's Mask actually made me feel bad for him, his backstory is so tragic. The Hero forgotten by Time all his efforts in vain Hyrule in ruins and his deeds not remembered. Eve I, someone who never played a Zelda game ever, still feel sadness and sympathy for him seeing him as nothing more than a pale shadow of his former self, just a shade, really hurt me. I'm the kinda guy who likes stories of the Hero saving the world, rescuing the princess, and helping the people, and I get attached to characters even in games I never played before so seeing our beloved Hero of Time reduced to nothing more than a bitter sorrowful shade really hurt me. But atleast one of his descendents would find him and our Hero of Time could pass on not only his knowledge but also in peace. And may all future Links strive to be just like him, strong, noble, selfless, caring, compassionate, and so much more. R.I.P oh Great Hero of Time I may not know you or experienced your adventure, but I know your story and that's all that matters.
Just for what it's worth, his summary of what happened after MM is mostly fan speculation and at least one just completely wrong detail. Hyrule hasn't been destroyed once after MM in the Child Timeline. It was endangered in Twilight Princess, but that game had a fairly low body count, and again in Four Swords Adventure, wherein 4 knights are killed. Certainly the Hero of Time does die frustrated that he couldn't pass on his teachings, but Hyrule itself remained safe and all we know about his later life is that he at one point had a child or children and that when he died, he was buried in battle worn regalia fit for an adult, suggesting further adventures and heroic deeds and a funeral with honors. And the Heroic Shade isn't wandering Hyrule unable to move on. It's emanating from the Hero of Twilight. One is the reincarnation of the other. He just popped out to teach his new life the ropes. No Link can move on cause they're trapped in an endless reincarnation cycle to protect Hyrule from regular catastrophes. So yeah, not exactly a tragic figure. We also have no idea about how his resumed quest to find Navi worked out. MM only sidetracked it for 3 days.
11:21 "With no Triforce or Master Sword" is incorrect. If you look at Link's hand when he meets with Zelda in the ending, the Triforce of Courage is still glowing on his hand. Link already having the Triforce in the past is likely what caused the Divine Prank at Ganondorf's failed execution later.
My favorite link is the hero of Twilight the direct descendent possibly great-grandson of the hero of time who actually receives tutelage from the hero of time from Beyond the afterlife

Uh Link retained the triforce of courage after being sent back in time. It’s how he convinced the king of Hyrule that Ganondorf was evil. Like are you really gonna say a kid who literally has a piece of your goddesses in his hand a lier?
Link spends basically all of Majora's Mask lying. Heck, uno reverse, at that point Ganondorf had a piece of the goddesses in his hand. Also, the Triforce isn't literally the goddesses. It's just a copy of their phenomenal cosmic power with onboard AI. The goddesses are on vacay bodyhopping around the multiverse with reincarnation and occasionally popping back to work miracles to take out ancient evils when Link's unavailable.
We know that Gannon and zella are written in stone every time they reincarnate but link technically be anyone of any race that shows determination and courage it's just that the spirit of the hero prefers blue-eyed blonde hellion boys.
Ganon's only reincarnated once (every other time it was revival or escape from a prison) and has no rules on his reincarnation at all. Nothing says Zelda has to be anything but a female of the royal family line to retain the Light Force. We know several races can interbreed and Hyrule has close ties to multiple non-human royal families they could end up having royal marriages with, to say nothing of constant influx of interdimensional tribes, the other continents on the planet with their own presumably non-Hylian races, and Hyrule's willingness to even engage in political and economic alliances with kingdoms in other dimensions. Frankly it's a wonder that none of the Zeldas have face tentacles let alone that they're all Hylian women.
Here's a fun series - Sly Cooper - you control a racoon thief and various allies (Turtle hacker, Hippo Thug, Fox police officer, and other gang members), all while pulling one heist or another, while trying to stop an old family foe, or three, or four. Along the way, saving various places from the control of dangerous criminals. Sly Cooper, I think, would be Chaotic Good. Carmelita Fox, might be Lawful Good, but I'll accept Chaotic Good. Rest of gang is mostly Chaotic Good (Bentley and Murry), although some from the third game onwards might be trickier, especially as 2 of them are former enemies turned allies. Then there's the enemies - although two did become allies (Panda King and Dimitri) of the gang (not to mention Carmelita and her issues with Sly) - a number of them are clearly Evil.

Part of the reasons why this is also my favorite Link and Majora's Mask being my favorite Zelda game of all time is because of the little details you only get if you look for them. I'm not talking only about the main story or Cremia's hug after doing her sidequest a second time (best reward ever). But because of how real the NPCs feel. Following on Cremia and Romani; if you don't do the Space Invaders sidequest, Romani will get abducted and practically a living corpse, leading Cremia into a depression. But even if you do the sidequest and return to the ranch on the final day, Romani will be happy because her sister will finally allow her to taste the "special milk" she sells every night, not knowing her sister wants to inebriate her so she doesn't feel the destruction of Termina. *This game just gets REALLY dark sometimes*
hmm... a lot of those neutral goods probably should have been labeled as lawful good, but the number of chaotic neutral dings for destroying every pot in Hyrule and Termina would balance it out to bring him back to neutral good, so the ending alignment would be the same. Also, the hero of legend would be an interesting alignment video, (A Link to the Past, Links Awakening, and the Oracle games) to my knowledge he's the only Link with 4 games (arguably 5 if you assume gramps in a Link between Worlds to be the hero of legend as an old man) notable accomplishments including: picking up a sword and shield off of his dying uncle and continuing to finish his uncle's quest after watching his uncle die in his arms, without missing a beat, resurrecting most of the inhabitants of Hyrule, and erasing two worlds from existence (the Dark Realm, as well as the dream world of Koholint Island)

To sum up briefly, all Link's are heroes appointed by Hylia in order to stand against evil and protect her mortal bloodline decsendants known as "Zelda". I like to think that because all Link's posses the, "spirit of the hero", they are in essence reincarnations of "the first hero"; a Link was only briefly mentioned to have been the first to received the original sail cloth from Hylia herself not the one you use in Skyward Sword. However when Demise lay's his curse upon the Link and Zelda of Skyward Sword he states that an incarceration of his hate will forever follow the spirit of the hero and the bloodline of the goddess. So in essence you could say that all Link's were innately chosen to become the ultimate good of there time.
I'd love to see a video on the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass Link! I feel he's up there with this Link as one of the greatest iterations of the character, and would make for an interesting alignment video as he's one of the few Links with character development.
There is actually only one timeline in which OoT Link's efforts prove not to be in vain until so far into the future as to become impossible to say his efforts didn't at least forestall it. In the child timeline, the final entry of the series is the Four Swords Adventures, in which Link draws the Four Sword that Vaati had been sealed in and releases him, Link returns from his quest to find the people celebrating, and he is hailed as a hero. After this, the timelines converge once more after tens of thousands of years to make Breath of the Wild. Obviously there was no way in hell OoT Link could have considered his quest ultimately a failure, if the people he worked so hard to save were so far dead and gone by the time BotW destroys child timeline's Hyrule that Dampe the Gravedigger's gravestone had long worn away to nothing.
I agree that the hero of time is the one that suffers the most. In the end, he's not there to be celebrated as the hero he is, he's not known as the hero he is, and in another timeline he doesn't even survive the final battle.
And you're wrong. LttP Link suffers the most. He's forced to murder an innocent world to escape the mind of a god. That's like permanent PTSD right there. And the only friend he made in that world that makes it out gets turned into a freaking seagull. Imagine Link coming home to Zelda trying to explain that the overly familiar sea pigeon on his shoulder is his girlfriend from a dimension he was forced to genocide by a fish god. There's also Failure Timeline Hero of Time Link who either dies or is critically injured in his final fight with Ganon. I assume critically injured to explain how the heck Saria ends up with Hylian descendants, but I could be wrong.

Should events that happen to a character that are out of their control really contribute to a score? You shifted a point of neutrality when Link was turned into a Deku, how is that a thing that can shift somebody's moral alignment?
The soul of the hero is basicly a vessel for previous Links skills in combat and puzzel solveing passed down from one reincarnation to the next this is why BOTW Link the Hero of the Wild is Super human in strenghth and skill as the man has 10000+ years of past lives skills to draw upon. This is why Wind Waker link is also a stand out in the franchise as Zelda removed the soul of the hero from his timeline when she sent the hero of time back in time. He was just an average boy named after the Hero who proved himself worthy and started a new line of heroes.
Blatantly not canon fan theory. All the sages have bloodline descendants in LBW and we know the failure timeline was the same as the adult timeline up until the final battle.

I remember making a fan story specifically about this (because I was trying to bridge the timeline between ALBW and the original TLOZ) and I remember being conflicted about whether these ALBW sages were blood descendants or spiritual descendants of the OOT sages-like maybe they reincarnate. In OOT there are some moments that HEAVILY imply that these sages die and even in TP the sages (presumably the same ones from OOT) seem to be in spirit form-at least temporarily.

Also if they were actually dead I'd question why the need for new Sages, since they would have had to have launched a rescue of Zelda and possibly a nearly dead Link AND solo Ganon right after he got the completed Triforce...as ghosts. Also, the sage of water, so little Ruto by your figuring, gets murdered in the TP flashback and I don't think Nintendo would have murdered Ruto and not dramatic revealed it was her. Also, we literally see them all alive during the credits of OoT. ALSO, the 7 maidens for LttP weren't sages and were explicitly special for having the blood of the sages from OoT.
Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game, even moreso than Breath of the Wild (at least, when accounting for its age and the time it came out). I plan on getting a 1/4 or 1/2 sleeve tattoo of it when I get the money together for such. It's good to see someone else who loves such a tragically underrated game. It's especially good when considering its SUPER rushed development period.
a link to the past link is the only other link who can match OoT link is raw accomplishments, and surprisingly is possibly the one who lives the longest if all the hinting about the oldman named Gramps who does street pass in link between worlds isnt just them messing with us- they do play the main zelda theme when he shows up in the credits after all
Just finished the video it was pretty good great insight into the hero of time I frankly didn't know how you're going to do this considering the fact that link doesn't have too much character that's probably just me being disgruntled with silent protagonists in video games at this point

I always preferred Toon Link over the others. He's expressive and you want to see him get his family back. When he's sad, you feel sad, and you want to help him. He does amazing things in spite on not being a hero. He wasn't chosen by the gods, no one believes he can do much of anything. While all Links are brave from the start, Zelda, Impa, and everyone understood the Hero of Time's part to play. Everyone who knew any Link knew he was a brave, dependable, and strong person. Toon Link had to fight for it, fight through fiend after fiend, across an ocean that's hostile to any who travel, and pay an insane amount of money to a lunatic slave-owning cartographer. He had to prove he was just as good as the others. He does it all because it's right, because no one else is willing to stare death in it's face and fight back. He made GODS recognize him as the hero, so that's something special. Also, he killed Ganondorf in his timeline. PERMANATELY.
Hell yeah dude, Toon Link is an absolute fucking badass, and the superior Link out of all of them. The rest of the Links are descendants of a mighty warrior that answered to the goddess Hylia and tethered to a curse that would reincarnate them indefinitely. This Link is just a kid whose little sister was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Link wanted to right that.
Ya know i love how your 2 favorite games are the two links with the worse overall lifes. One is a forgotten hero while the other actually failed and lost EVERYTHING, life friends family and even memories. Id say BOTW link had it worse than OOT link since hyrule actually no longer existed in a sense but then i remembered he basically avenged the fall of his friends and gets a decent happy ending.

I recommend using the updated Zelda Encylopedia rather than the Historia when you decide to tackle A Link to the Past. The Encyclopedia changed things in that section.

This is entirely irrelevant to the discussion of alignment, but Link actually _keeps_ the Triforce of Courage when Zelda sends him back to reclaim his lost time. This was something neither of them expected and causes the "Divine Prank" referenced in Twilight Princess. Because Link in the past now has a piece of the Triforce, the Triforce in the past splits anyway and sends the Wisdom and Power pieces off to inhabit Zelda and Ganondorf. This is how Ganondorf survives his execution and has to be sent to the Twilight Realm as a last resort. It's also why Twilight Princess Link already has the Triforce mark on his hand when you start the game; he's one of the few Links in the series to have a canonical blood relation to a past Link, so he already possesses the Triforce of Courage.
The Triforce isn't hereditary except when it's physically passed on from one person to another. Link has the Triforce of Courage in TP because he's ALSO the reincarnation of his grandpa and it was soulbound. The LIGHT FORCE is hereditary. You mixed up your forces.

Also Ingo recognizes Link as Epona's new owner when he tries to keep him prisoner in the ranch.
Wouldn't that make it neutral or lawful neutral. Ingo betted Epona in the race and if Link won she would be his. Upon winning Ingo tries to renege on his end by locking him in the ranch and planning to turn Link into Ganondorf, the ruling, but evil, authority figure that Link opposes. Since Link escapes a more of a means of self-persevation and to ensure the deal is honored the two alignments that I stated prior make more sense.
Regarding the Fairy Ocarina (the one Saria gave Link), my memory is very vague but iirc the manga adaptation featured Ganondorf getting his hands on it and then destroying it in a rage when he realized it wasn’t the Ocarina of Time. The manga’s canonicity is very questionable of course, but I enjoy this take far more than the idea that Link just straight-up ditched a keepsake from his best and oldest friend as soon as he got a new instrument.
The manga is considered non-canonical, but I def subscribe to the "fairy ocarina was broken" camp. Maybe in the game it was as simple as the clay ocarina being broken when Link was trounced by that spell.
Why has it taken me this long to realize this, but hear me out. Curse of Strahd and Majora’s maks are fairly similar, demiplanes/parallel dimensions, cursed or undead denizens forced to relive their miserable life in an endless cycle, and an outsider helping to save this doomed place.
So yeah probably why I still love both.

Link going from a child, to a Hero, to a forgotten warrior to then turn into a shade full of regrets that only gets to pass on to rest in peace after he's trained the next protector of the kingdom/world from the hands of Ganon makes him a chaotic good in my opinion

I personally never played and Legend of Zelda game at all but I know enough of the story for atleast The Hero of Time, and seeing his story play out especially his life after Majora's Mask actually made me feel bad for him, his backstory is so tragic. The Hero forgotten by Time all his efforts in vain Hyrule in ruins and his deeds not remembered. Eve I, someone who never played a Zelda game ever, still feel sadness and sympathy for him seeing him as nothing more than a pale shadow of his former self, just a shade, really hurt me. I'm the kinda guy who likes stories of the Hero saving the world, rescuing the princess, and helping the people, and I get attached to characters even in games I never played before so seeing our beloved Hero of Time reduced to nothing more than a bitter sorrowful shade really hurt me. But atleast one of his descendents would find him and our Hero of Time could pass on not only his knowledge but also in peace. And may all future Links strive to be just like him, strong, noble, selfless, caring, compassionate, and so much more. R.I.P oh Great Hero of Time I may not know you or experienced your adventure, but I know your story and that's all that matters.

Just for what it's worth, his summary of what happened after MM is mostly fan speculation and at least one just completely wrong detail. Hyrule hasn't been destroyed once after MM in the Child Timeline. It was endangered in Twilight Princess, but that game had a fairly low body count, and again in Four Swords Adventure, wherein 4 knights are killed. Certainly the Hero of Time does die frustrated that he couldn't pass on his teachings, but Hyrule itself remained safe and all we know about his later life is that he at one point had a child or children and that when he died, he was buried in battle worn regalia fit for an adult, suggesting further adventures and heroic deeds and a funeral with honors. And the Heroic Shade isn't wandering Hyrule unable to move on. It's emanating from the Hero of Twilight. One is the reincarnation of the other. He just popped out to teach his new life the ropes. No Link can move on cause they're trapped in an endless reincarnation cycle to protect Hyrule from regular catastrophes.
So yeah, not exactly a tragic figure. We also have no idea about how his resumed quest to find Navi worked out. MM only sidetracked it for 3 days.

Link spends basically all of Majora's Mask lying. Heck, uno reverse, at that point Ganondorf had a piece of the goddesses in his hand. Also, the Triforce isn't literally the goddesses. It's just a copy of their phenomenal cosmic power with onboard AI. The goddesses are on vacay bodyhopping around the multiverse with reincarnation and occasionally popping back to work miracles to take out ancient evils when Link's unavailable.
We know that Gannon and zella are written in stone every time they reincarnate but link technically be anyone of any race that shows determination and courage it's just that the spirit of the hero prefers blue-eyed blonde hellion boys.
Ganon's only reincarnated once (every other time it was revival or escape from a prison) and has no rules on his reincarnation at all. Nothing says Zelda has to be anything but a female of the royal family line to retain the Light Force. We know several races can interbreed and Hyrule has close ties to multiple non-human royal families they could end up having royal marriages with, to say nothing of constant influx of interdimensional tribes, the other continents on the planet with their own presumably non-Hylian races, and Hyrule's willingness to even engage in political and economic alliances with kingdoms in other dimensions. Frankly it's a wonder that none of the Zeldas have face tentacles let alone that they're all Hylian women.

Here's a fun series - Sly Cooper - you control a racoon thief and various allies (Turtle hacker, Hippo Thug, Fox police officer, and other gang members), all while pulling one heist or another, while trying to stop an old family foe, or three, or four. Along the way, saving various places from the control of dangerous criminals.
Sly Cooper, I think, would be Chaotic Good.
Carmelita Fox, might be Lawful Good, but I'll accept Chaotic Good.
Rest of gang is mostly Chaotic Good (Bentley and Murry), although some from the third game onwards might be trickier, especially as 2 of them are former enemies turned allies.
Then there's the enemies - although two did become allies (Panda King and Dimitri) of the gang (not to mention Carmelita and her issues with Sly) - a number of them are clearly Evil.

Part of the reasons why this is also my favorite Link and Majora's Mask being my favorite Zelda game of all time is because of the little details you only get if you look for them.
I'm not talking only about the main story or Cremia's hug after doing her sidequest a second time (best reward ever). But because of how real the NPCs feel. Following on Cremia and Romani; if you don't do the Space Invaders sidequest, Romani will get abducted and practically a living corpse, leading Cremia into a depression.
But even if you do the sidequest and return to the ranch on the final day, Romani will be happy because her sister will finally allow her to taste the "special milk" she sells every night, not knowing her sister wants to inebriate her so she doesn't feel the destruction of Termina. *This game just gets REALLY dark sometimes*
hmm... a lot of those neutral goods probably should have been labeled as lawful good, but the number of chaotic neutral dings for destroying every pot in Hyrule and Termina would balance it out to bring him back to neutral good, so the ending alignment would be the same.
Also, the hero of legend would be an interesting alignment video, (A Link to the Past, Links Awakening, and the Oracle games) to my knowledge he's the only Link with 4 games (arguably 5 if you assume gramps in a Link between Worlds to be the hero of legend as an old man) notable accomplishments including: picking up a sword and shield off of his dying uncle and continuing to finish his uncle's quest after watching his uncle die in his arms, without missing a beat, resurrecting most of the inhabitants of Hyrule, and erasing two worlds from existence (the Dark Realm, as well as the dream world of Koholint Island)
My favorite Zelda game was, is, and forever shall be, _Link's Awakening DX,_ the one on the GameBoy Color.

To sum up briefly, all Link's are heroes appointed by Hylia in order to stand against evil and protect her mortal bloodline decsendants known as "Zelda". I like to think that because all Link's posses the, "spirit of the hero", they are in essence reincarnations of "the first hero"; a Link was only briefly mentioned to have been the first to received the original sail cloth from Hylia herself not the one you use in Skyward Sword. However when Demise lay's his curse upon the Link and Zelda of Skyward Sword he states that an incarceration of his hate will forever follow the spirit of the hero and the bloodline of the goddess. So in essence you could say that all Link's were innately chosen to become the ultimate good of there time.
Correction: Zelda isn’t a reincarnation of Hylia, most are just descendants of the original Zelda, the actual reincarnation of Hylia.
I'd love to see a video on the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass Link! I feel he's up there with this Link as one of the greatest iterations of the character, and would make for an interesting alignment video as he's one of the few Links with character development.
There is actually only one timeline in which OoT Link's efforts prove not to be in vain until so far into the future as to become impossible to say his efforts didn't at least forestall it. In the child timeline, the final entry of the series is the Four Swords Adventures, in which Link draws the Four Sword that Vaati had been sealed in and releases him, Link returns from his quest to find the people celebrating, and he is hailed as a hero. After this, the timelines converge once more after tens of thousands of years to make Breath of the Wild. Obviously there was no way in hell OoT Link could have considered his quest ultimately a failure, if the people he worked so hard to save were so far dead and gone by the time BotW destroys child timeline's Hyrule that Dampe the Gravedigger's gravestone had long worn away to nothing.
I agree that the hero of time is the one that suffers the most. In the end, he's not there to be celebrated as the hero he is, he's not known as the hero he is, and in another timeline he doesn't even survive the final battle.
And you're wrong. LttP Link suffers the most. He's forced to murder an innocent world to escape the mind of a god. That's like permanent PTSD right there. And the only friend he made in that world that makes it out gets turned into a freaking seagull. Imagine Link coming home to Zelda trying to explain that the overly familiar sea pigeon on his shoulder is his girlfriend from a dimension he was forced to genocide by a fish god.
There's also Failure Timeline Hero of Time Link who either dies or is critically injured in his final fight with Ganon. I assume critically injured to explain how the heck Saria ends up with Hylian descendants, but I could be wrong.

The soul of the hero is basicly a vessel for previous Links skills in combat and puzzel solveing passed down from one reincarnation to the next this is why BOTW Link the Hero of the Wild is Super human in strenghth and skill as the man has 10000+ years of past lives skills to draw upon. This is why Wind Waker link is also a stand out in the franchise as Zelda removed the soul of the hero from his timeline when she sent the hero of time back in time. He was just an average boy named after the Hero who proved himself worthy and started a new line of heroes.
You do realize Link wasn't freeing those Sages right...They all died and went to the Sacred Realm.
Blatantly not canon fan theory. All the sages have bloodline descendants in LBW and we know the failure timeline was the same as the adult timeline up until the final battle.

I remember making a fan story specifically about this (because I was trying to bridge the timeline between ALBW and the original TLOZ) and I remember being conflicted about whether these ALBW sages were blood descendants or spiritual descendants of the OOT sages-like maybe they reincarnate. In OOT there are some moments that HEAVILY imply that these sages die and even in TP the sages (presumably the same ones from OOT) seem to be in spirit form-at least temporarily.

Also if they were actually dead I'd question why the need for new Sages, since they would have had to have launched a rescue of Zelda and possibly a nearly dead Link AND solo Ganon right after he got the completed Triforce...as ghosts. Also, the sage of water, so little Ruto by your figuring, gets murdered in the TP flashback and I don't think Nintendo would have murdered Ruto and not dramatic revealed it was her. Also, we literally see them all alive during the credits of OoT. ALSO, the 7 maidens for LttP weren't sages and were explicitly special for having the blood of the sages from OoT.

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game, even moreso than Breath of the Wild (at least, when accounting for its age and the time it came out). I plan on getting a 1/4 or 1/2 sleeve tattoo of it when I get the money together for such. It's good to see someone else who loves such a tragically underrated game. It's especially good when considering its SUPER rushed development period.

I always preferred Toon Link over the others. He's expressive and you want to see him get his family back. When he's sad, you feel sad, and you want to help him. He does amazing things in spite on not being a hero. He wasn't chosen by the gods, no one believes he can do much of anything. While all Links are brave from the start, Zelda, Impa, and everyone understood the Hero of Time's part to play. Everyone who knew any Link knew he was a brave, dependable, and strong person. Toon Link had to fight for it, fight through fiend after fiend, across an ocean that's hostile to any who travel, and pay an insane amount of money to a lunatic slave-owning cartographer. He had to prove he was just as good as the others. He does it all because it's right, because no one else is willing to stare death in it's face and fight back. He made GODS recognize him as the hero, so that's something special. Also, he killed Ganondorf in his timeline. PERMANATELY.
Hell yeah dude, Toon Link is an absolute fucking badass, and the superior Link out of all of them. The rest of the Links are descendants of a mighty warrior that answered to the goddess Hylia and tethered to a curse that would reincarnate them indefinitely. This Link is just a kid whose little sister was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Link wanted to right that.

Ya know i love how your 2 favorite games are the two links with the worse overall lifes. One is a forgotten hero while the other actually failed and lost EVERYTHING, life friends family and even memories. Id say BOTW link had it worse than OOT link since hyrule actually no longer existed in a sense but then i remembered he basically avenged the fall of his friends and gets a decent happy ending.

@@SirShawn-qb2fk Spirit Tracks Link is a Royal Engineer and Skyward Sword Link is a Knight. I would think both being government officers would count toward a lawful alignment, unless I've just misunderstood something.
