Well I dunno, I don'T play wow much anymore and have neither friends playing it nor a guild.
Maybe we will start playing again in Legion.
But seeing how the community went. I don'T know if i want to be part of the wordl of warcraft anymore. Because I'm unsure that legion will keep everyone of us playing for more than a few months.
And wenn your less than 3 or 4 people no one will want to continue as there are already so few left.
And I just can't stand the random players anymore.
Play mythic +15 as a casual and see how "easy" it is. Play rated 2s and try getting a high rank.
I think it's hilarious how people think Pandaren are some kind of new and random thing that Blizzard did just so they'd have a quintessentially asian race. The same damn thing happened when the Draenei came out, pretty much.
Newsflash: Pandaren are not new or random and the Draenei are not out of place. They have both existed in the Warcraft Lore as long as Night Elves. Chen Stormstout even helps the Horde in Warcraft 3. If you think they're lame, random or new, you're just a newbie.

the game has gotten better in many many ways, back in classic and even tbc many specs were just not playable certain classes were you pretty much only were viable as a certain spec. people look to classic and tbc through rose tinted glasses and not saying it was not fun times it was. but i think it's more that WoW is near 10 years old and some people just want something else. WoD shows a lot of promise though
TBC didnt have unplayable specs, but some were mediocre DPS or just barely viable-

back in vanilla the only tier set for rets was the tier 2 set... and the only reason why was judgement was their ONLY damage ability... when tbc came out pallies and a lot of other classes got their talents reworked and more spells like for example exorcism and crusader strike... and ret pallies also had their spells based on attack power and their talents also gave them bonuses to their damage like crit, haste, expertise, hit... blizzard really sat down and said, "hmm it seems like holy is the most used spec for paladins, what can we do to make the other specs viable in raids and dungeons, i know lets cut the tier set pieces from 8 to 5 and give 3 different tier sets, one for each spec: holy would have intellect and stamina while having their set bonus fit the healing role... give ret strength and a 2 and 4 piece set bonus befitting damage, lets give prot strength and tanking bonuses... and while doing it lets rework their talents so that we can make ret and prot more appealing. and also add new spells to the paladin class for both damage and tanking... and they did something similar to this for all classes
and i like the game right now... leveling a hunter is so much more easier now cause i no longer have to go back to the fucking bow shopkeeper and waste GOLD on buying arrows and no more feeding a pet too it was a pain in the ass to run out of arrows in the middle of a fight and say to my fellow group members uhh guys i ran out of arrows imma gonna need to hearth and buy more arrows can i get a summon back when im done and then ur group members have to run ALL the way back to the beginning of the dungeon and exit the dungeon and then have to summon your ass bc u had to buy fucking arrows so that u didnt have to raptor strike a target to death and actually use your major abilities...

I only just found this song now, five years after I finally quit for good, and goddamn did it hit hard, thinking back to my final days of playing and wondering how I'd leave the game because yeah, I was not going to do the AP grind 2.0. Ended up taking all my mains and major alts to locations significant to the persona I'd built up for each of them over the years (even though I never RP'd) and logging them out at each place for the last time. Corny as it sounds, it was like saying goodbye to old friends, considering a couple of them were rolled in vanilla.

I landed on this after the nostalgia of the world of Warcraft that you play. Yes made me feel old I still play wow and have been on and off since 2005. There’s classic now to relive vanilla. So you CAN play vanilla again sorta . Anyway I still chill to wow but I don’t play how people say “hard core” those days left me a decade ago. Two hours here or there . Watching a show or listening to music while I level a character. That’s why I stayed so long.
Ever since Cata, I've never been able to get into the game like I used to back when TBC was ending and WOTLK was just coming out. Every time a new ex pack comes out, I play it for a while but inevitably get bored and just stop going on line, then I start to feel bad about all those people I made plans with on it, but it's not my fault, the game just can't keep my interest for long. I remember back when I first started as a rogue, I was leveling with my friend sitting beside me and we ended up getting my character stuck so bad that I ended up having to delete him, but I didn't mind cause I had fun exploring the areas, now I just blaze past every zone turning a blind eye to everything except the next quest. The RP communities are falling apart all over the place and few guilds really thrive anymore... I don't know, the game just seems kind of hollow these days. Great blizz, you've added more story and a kinda cool "build your own base" mechanic, but what happens when we beat that? You've not really done anything to help maintain and grow communities so that it feels fun to just hang out with friends on the game and make raiding with them worth it... This -is- an MMO, remember, the multiplayer aspect is kind of important.

TheBritishBeaver woah.....best expansion?? you must be new....vanilla was/is best....only way to get good gear was to be in a good guild, the boss mechanics were awesome, instance design was complex and well thought of... alot of players including kungen prefer vanilla over any expansion....2nd best i have to say was tbh and then panda...cata is horse manure....just my opinion..
noypi831 Back in vanilla there was stupid things such as the nefarion fight where he would do something like destroy a hunters weapon which is completely uncalled for and stupid, stuff like this is supposed to make the vanilla raids seem harder yet it is just dumb stuff.
Now in MoP especially there are lots of tactics to a fight instead of a boss doing spells randomly. Like I said you are still stuck to the nostalgia, it wasn't best it wasn't very well designed the fact it was new is the reason so many people believe this. For example ToT and SoO are amazing raids, and are much more complex. Vanilla raids were not 'complex' they were just pointlessly silly, like a fire mage couldn't do molten core because so many bosses were immune to fire...
noypi831 What boss mechanics are you speaking of? You mean, some curses there, some mobgrinding here? I mean, vanilla was hard and new, thats what made it cool.
There were so many bugs, that had to be fixed before a boss was doable. I guess you haven't had that ~200 C'thun wipes before Blizz made him even doable because he was bugged like shit. And I guess you weren't a raidleader, too. Well, atleast not on an "Mid-populated" Server. Some guilds (including mine) had massive problems to get 40 man together you can "trust" in being online for raid.
I liked vanilla, as I liked tbc and every other expansion.
Every expansion had it's ups and downs. I mean, Firelands was awesome. So was ICC (I don't like Ulduar, some players would put in that there instead of ICC).
16 days to official classic wow return, we are nearly home.
Oh god I am back here again watching these old wow videos. Down the rabbit hole we go, I might find nyhm's videos soon.

OMG HUGE RUSH OF NOSTALGIA! I remember when this video came out. I don't think it's the content that everybody misses about the Vanilla and BC days, but the community and the feel of the game back then. The world was alive and vibrant with people out leveling there characters and professions. Guilds were families, and you had a hardcore allegiance to your faction. You also only knew your server. For example, I would see the same Horde guys that were leveling the same rate and zones as me from Stanglethorn Vale all the way through being level 60. I developed feuds with many of them over the 30's 40's 50's and at level 60 as well. Also my guild back then (which was the top Alliance guild on the server) had a feud with a Horde guild (which was top Horde guild of the server) and about every Friday night one of there guild would gank one of our guild and then a few of ours would show up then a few more of there's and so on until a massive guild war broke out in some random "noob" zone as we called it back then. World PvP isn't even really around today. And I was on Illidan too which was the top server back then and probably is the most infamous WoW server out there. The main thing, however, is simply the fact that the game is 10 years old now. Everything was new and fresh back then, so of course every single little thing was epic and questing new zones was fun even though it was always the same thing with new monsters (kill 10 of these, collect 10 of those, kill this boss). Does that mean the game still isn't fun? No! It just isn't that same epic game it once was. But, WoD actually looks pretty cool! I've been there since the beginning and every single expansion, and the reasons above are why everybody says Vanilla is better.

Still stings years later. Haven't played WoW in probably 4 years now. Even then, I always felt like I was forcing myself once Cataclysm hit.
I just remember being a kid and experiencing another world :) With the imagination that I had at the time, I experienced it as waaaay better than it was. Something that I find pretty cool now was the adults who created guilds, arranged raids and kept up with all us 10-15 year olds who didnt understand anything, and let us experience the game in a pretty friendly group of people. That was the best part for me, looking up to the big guys at the top of the guild who kept the show running for everyone, and hanging out with them on ventrilo daily ^^ But as Im now old, I find myself too lazy to combine work, studies and an mmo raidingguild. It would have been cool to see it from the other perspective as a guild leader one day ^^ That will have to wait until Im done with work at 62 yrs old. Hehe

I honestly miss the old days for the player experiences I had, when the game required more effort with crafting and had more interesting and epic items to make, when trade chat made raids and heroics (and required SHIT TONS of knowledge and skill to do vs now with LFGs and flex-mode) and when you were able to know everyone on your server so if some member of the opposite faction killed you, you would be able to find them in the battlegrounds and get revenge and when the lore seemed more based on the original warcraft games. Mind you yes I know that pandarians are in the lore but meh pandas, and with WoD that doesn't really bring to me a sense of warcraft lore. It actually just says to me that blizzard is more focus on keeping the 7.6mil subs they have left on WoW instead of them deciding to finally finish the game. I want WoW to finish up like when you watch the final movie in a trilogy like LotR or Starwars for example. I feel discontent with WoW's current road of travel, and frankly kinda worried about its future.
WoW will end in its 6th expansion(which will probably be sometime in 2016/2017/2018)

And what I've heard with expacs since, it just seems they're getting farther and farther away from the story that people knew and liked. I'm not sure if they could even get new players, and it feels like its only living off of its name, yet they're simultaneously alienating those who play it for its name.

LOL, no. I would much rather farm rep than gear. I've been running all of SoO for three weeks plus celestial, wanna know what I've gotten? Gold. Klaxxi can be grinded and farmed like nothing compared to it.

+Courtney Archibald Join a real guild (Not one of the 400 member cess pool ones) and make some friends. The only non-team oriented thing that Blizzard has effectively implemented is dungeon finder and LFR (Which is more of a tourist mode for raiding that new players mistake for end-game). Find a raiding guild that's at least going for normal, if not heroic or mythic where communication and delegation of jobs is %100 required. It's the community mindset that's changed and it's not just affecting WoW but all MMO's. You need to reach out when no body else is willing to.
+Courtney Archibald Ye nostralius is damn packed. It's like playing the real thing. Loads of players there. I started in early WOTLK and quit in Cata.
I would prefere to play WOTLK or just maybe Cata instead of vanilla, but the server is prob one of the best private servers out there.
Funny thing is MoP was the last xpac with any sort of tactics. Even though LFR killed it in the end.
WOW WOTLK still is the best game I've ever played..

Mac Sunny Ah I see while the number don't agree with me I found warlords to be the turning point. I would go as far as to say that all content up to that point was great but besides the collection tab the expansion brought me nothing good it ruined professions by making it more timegated than ever while also removing the need for most prior expansion mats since you can level with only dreanor mats from 1, then there are those on map objective quest which sure gave good xp but added nothing to the experience, then there is apixis dailies, the garrison and don't get me started on patch 6.1 just saying cata got nothing on dreanor and legion did nothing to fix this but instead killed high level alts with artifacts, made legendaries common, introduced the uninspired world quest system and a time gated main zone I was fine with molten front but I rather these time gated stuff stays where it belongs with reputations xD guess we all look on things differently tho :p

People quitting over pandas was always funny. Pandaren were in the original warcraft franchise. The world they built around MoP was legendary. The worst part about it was that there wasn't enough.

@Username Of TH-cam I don't think it will.... Every expansion has it own part(s) from the history of Warcraft... so they all make sense in a way, but people have their preferences on expansions and that's okay... differences must be there though otherwise it would have gone boring long time ago xD
Honestly, hating pandas is stupid. They're no sillier than cow people or goat people, and Mists of Pandaria was an incredible expansion. Beautiful new zones, three amazing raid tiers, a great unique new class, an amazing storyline, and the satisfying events turning Varian into the best racial leader in the game.
Aysa Cloudsinger, Lorewalker Cho, and Taran Zhu are all great characters and welcome additions to the game.
Really, the only negative about the expansion was Siege of Orgrimmar lasted too long despite being a great raid.

Pandas may have had a minor interaction in the lore, but it was insignificant, they might aswell have made an expansion revolving around the exploding sheep it would have had more people stick around. Although I liked the increased theme of alcohol in the game, Pandas were the wrong way to go, They just flipped off the majority of loyal consumers to bring in new ones doing half the work. How do you go from dragons to undead, ogres, dragons/humanoids to a heavy asian theme revolving around humanoid pandas. The game literally went from legendary creatures/characters to a child's cartoon and an anthropomorphic religion that already exists in the real world, just to appeal to a different audience. Then they completely ruined the talent system, to add visual effects, and focused more on making any gear max the stats to fit the class/role/spec on top of enchants, gems and upgrades all predetermined by a computer for you to show you the "correct" choices. They also ruined the grind and accomplishment/discipline or mechanic knowledge in fights of attunements, unless you're in a progression guild finding a group is impossible without an "achievement." People can easily be carried for an achievement, but being carried for an attunement was a bit more difficult without actually learning mechanics, obtaining gear from previous instances and an idea on how to play your class effectively. Its funny but extremely sad reading the comments from this new generation of "gamers," oldish school gamers reforming to the modern greed or laziness within "developers" these days. You can argue as much as you want about how blizzard has the consumer's best interest in mind but many of you have not played vanilla (even on the private servers it's not the same), You could never understand what was taken away from original fans of this franchise.

Legion is actually okay. Leveling is way more enjoyable than any expansion since WoTLK. The specializations for paladins remind me somewhat of BC and WoTLK. Seems like a step in the right direction. But the game is really too far gone now. There are way too many continents and worlds. The game is pretty much empty until you hit level 100, and after that people seem to just stand around in the class halls. Blizzard's biggest failure is not getting people out in the world. That is why they're losing players.
What I think they should do is look at what they did right in vanilla. Back then we had clear class roles. Sure, keep the different specializations for all the classes. Allow hybrids to switch between healer, tank and dps on a whim. But back then you didn't have any fancy weapons from day one, few fancy spells. What was fancy was the world. How it breathed. They should've built on that. Class halls shouldn't be this single player experience, but an organization where all players of certain classes are ranked and work towards a common goal. You could have had gigantic conquests that all paladins for example take part in, and work together to succeed in. It kind of breaks my heart to see any run of the mill player run around with a legendary weapon. What's going to happen in the next expansion? Are we all going to lose our unique legendary copies? It's going to be tough to save this.

Why are people so delusional about the way classic WoW was like. One single boss in Pandaria had more mechanics than all fucking Classic bosses combined. The only difference is -nobody- knew how to play back then.

The difficulty in Classic WoW came from having classes with extremely poor itemization, most specs were not viable, necessary resistance gear, and 40 people who don't know how to do anything on a boss with a couple of mechanics. In today's raids the group wipes because the group didn't the mechanics properly. In classic raids the group wiped because trying to manage 40 people with specs the game did expect you to use for is a nightmare.

If that's an argument you want to make, you'd probably win it. But people aren't delusional when they say they miss the oldschoiol WoW, it's just an entirely different game based on socialzing with people on your server, the raids weren't spectacular and the pvp is far from balanced (but it's really gimmicky and fun and also has a high skill cap on some classes - if you really want to excel).
In the end the social aspect rules supreme and makes vanilla WoW the all time favorit of anyone who experienced it to its fullest. I played every expansion, but the only thing I can stick to nowadays is a 1.12 private Server.
(Also TBC wasn't majorly humped since the crossrealm aspect wasn't introduced yet and the arena was absolutely fun, that's probably my favorite PvP Expansion)

How was Draenor so bad? Seriously? It had so much potential.. To think i bought the collector's edition.
I'm not one to be guided by nostalgia here, but wod was horrible, i got to a point where i'd rather be doing anything else than playing it.
A lot of people are now apologetic about their Pandaria bashing. I don't get it. I thought that mop was a great expansion. There was always something to do. And i'm impressed how Blizz made a great story from pretty much nothing.
Adding a raid that was supposed to be out on release, and a selfie cam is not a content patch.
The one problem with mists was that the last patch lasted way to long.
I agree that WoD was boring tho.

Think of Warlords as a filler expansion, they also tried to market it way to much (See the Hellscream axe on a cab in NYC in November) and tried to make it look like the best idea in the world, however, people are way too fast with the content, they should tune normal and heroic mode up about 300% during their first 3-4 weeks, then lower it down by 150% and then it should be elite mode still
I can't wait for Blizzard to finally snap, make OFFICIAL legacy servers, and have EVERYONE play the previous expansions, and live would be dead. then after a few months, everyone would slowly start to creep back towards live because they would realize how actually not fun Vanilla was xDDD It's literally just the memories of running off of the bus into your bedroom to hop on WoW that's clouding your vision, people. Luckily I was already an adult when I started in Vanilla, so the game has only gotten better for me. lol

Panda's are simply Blizzards way of imitating a culture and integrate it in-game (Like they did with the vikish valkyrs). What annoys the hell out of me is the pay to 90 boost. Does that a total newbie can skip all the stuff that makes you learn how to play and go directly into raiding to annoy others (ofc after WOD it's different)

Mmmm all the mad classic players whining because they don't have to spend quite literally 365 days out of the year to gear one toon. Either way I don't care if it's hard or easy, I find the lore enjoyable and the game overall fun to play.

HAHAHAHA gear > skill? You know why they put pvp gear in the game? So pvp isn't as broken as it was in the past. Back then you could kill people in seconds. But now, it takes quite a bit longer and brings longevity to arena matches. There is still a lot of skill required to play your class. Theres a difference between knowing how to play your class and Mastering your class, becoming skill capped. Becoming skill capped obviously requires a lot of skill but pays off.

Well guys the thing is with private servers, the potential chance of losing your character to whatever it might be, and the bugs on a private server. Just doesn't compare to original vanilla. Hopefully Blizz will make legacy servers. Hopefully.

im gonna piss off alot of veteran wow players by saying this. but i think its what they need to have in they're thick skulls. *ehem* vanilla was not perfect, by no means a bad expansion but still, vanilla was not the so-called "perfect time of wow" as many claim it to be. they're were, ALOT OF PROBLEMS. lets take a look at the problems.
1. the grouping system. this is a feature that ALOT of wow fans missed ever since wrotlk's dungeon finder and cata's lfr came to town. though to me, i think its kind of over-missed. now think about this for a second, would you rather have a system where you easily find groups without the hassle of travelling all around azoroth just to find a group member?? or would you have a system where your constantly pulling you hair out in rage. because your trying to find group members that either never show up or rage quit because they don't have that particular gear. yes, i know guilds existed in that time but to be fair, not everyone plays wow 24/7. sometimes they just need time apart.
2. glitches: 3 WORDS!!!!, corrupted. blood. plague. those words alone sum up the array of terrible glitches that have happened in vanilla wow. that tiny little screw up of a glitch killed entire servers and it took a week for blizzard to fix it. hell, scientists in real life were using that glitch as an example of what could happen in real life. want more proof that the glitches were bad. how about the time when a boss in molten core, turned entire groups of players into suicide bombers in-game??
3 and the final reason. it was already somewhat of a kids game to begin with: alot of people in wow today complain about wow turning into a kids game with the release of mop. though quite honestly, thats kind of hypocritical. considering there were already child like elements in the game. want proof?? take a look at the race's (playable and non playable) that came into wow vanilla: gnomes, Minotaur's (aka talking cows), goblins, humans, trolls, dwarfs. the list goes on. plus, the game as rated 12. 12!!!!. if your claiming that "wow is for adults" horse crap actually works, then you seriously need to re think what you just thought. if a game is rated for 12 year olds. then its obvious that alot of minors who haven't even reached teenager hood (i hope thats a word) are probably going to play it.
so those were my reasons on why vanilla wow wasn't perfect. and i will say this, im not saying that vanilla wow was a bad expansion, far from it. it was innovative. im just sick of every veteran wow fans putting it on a pedistule and claiming it as the god expansion of wow just because of nostalgia. however, if you are one of those players who are not willing to except the fate of future wow content?? there are private servers that bring back the charm of what the original had. but right now im just gonna name one: nostalrious
it DID return to the former glory. Draenor is the best expansion since WotLK. but they kinda screwed up the economy tho with gathering professions
Well, at least now we can just level our professions at max level. Im currently leveling Alchemy AND Inscription without the need to take up one spot with herbalism!

Stopped playing in September 2011 and never really looked back. The fun for me was Vanilla. All was new, took a damn long time to level. Nowadays, you can level too fast. But that makes you able to reroll. On vanilla that hardly ever happened, cause it took so damn long. Still, i miss WoW when leveling was painfully slow. You have a sense of acomplishement after so long.
The game just isn't challenging anymore. That's my biggest complaint, really... I mean, during the Pandaren starting thing, I was able to tank *an entirely dojo of at-level Pandaren monks*. If I tried that in Vanilla (with Warrior, for example), I'd die in like seven seconds!
There's been various other problems since _Burning Crusade_ (reagents stack to *how many* now?!), but honestly... I'm still having fun. Just... a different kind of fun.
Nost coming up in 2 days and we can all go back and live the dream once more!
