Love how the flag of the Black Pearl was such a menace when they were chasing the Interceptor in the first movie. And yet here it's accompanied by a battlecry for freedom as well as a sort of "Bring it on!" against tyranny. Funny how things change.
Yeah, freedom to steal from honest merchants and killing, terrorizing innocent people, to make themselves rich by using the common folk as a stepping stone to their success, hard to believe that people tend to forget that pirates were never the good guys in any story. Tyranny from a country and it's soldiers fighting to keep their people safe from killers, sadists and robbers, what a joke you are.
Caribbean piracy as we know it originally started that way. The brutal piracy you read about in history was a barbary coast issue, not a Caribbean problem.

Well, considering Beckett is killing, enslaving, extorting and seeking massive political power for the sake of personal gain, all while staying mostly within the bounds of the law (making it less likely for anyone besides the pirates to get rid of him), I'd argue that Beckett is the bigger problem.

I suppose most people do not know, that any flag bearing a Skull and possibly cross bones is Christians ..Skull and bones are a symbol of John the Baptist.

I actually have this movie to thank, for my pirate flag tattoo. I was debating about which one to get, and because of the Pearl, I got the skull and crossed swords. Underneath is the inscription, "Dead Men Tell No Tales." It was the second tattoo I ever got (I have 9 now)
I do love the diversity of flags. Apparently, in real history, different gangs of pirates would have a unique flag so it wasn’t just country to country, sort of ship to ship.
