I enjoy watching these older episodes and finding out what happened since ... Zena bought a gem! The development next door has transformed the look of the street (Hartley Road) and her house is looking amazing. Well found Kirstie!
I’d have thrown my hands up in the air if I was Phil. This couple were incredibly fussy- the second house was perfect but they couldn’t get past the idea of aesthetics as the interior and garden were incredible for their needs and personally, I thought it much nicer than the one they ended up withThey didn’t need help and frankly, led Phil on a bit of a wild goose chase. Young Zina was young, enthusiastic and positive but fairly practical and I wish her all the best in her first time home.
I agree with you. That garden wasn't all that big in the last house, yet he rejected the size of the 2nd being too small. You really have to ask yourself what this was all about...being on television???
I don't think the couple really knew what they wanted. They just said what everyone else says when looking for a house. They didn't want character. They wanted new and modern. Why did they not say that? I felt bad for Phil.
Old episode, yes, but SO focused from Phil and Kirsty, as always. Two completely different clients. Phil had his work cut out; patience beyond saint-hood! Kirsty's client open and listening. Loved it!
Really pleased for Zena. I was born in Luton and grew up there and I've always had a soft spot for the street where she bought her house...hope she's had many happy times there!
They did do an update on her a few years later. If you want an update on her now, who knows how long you have to wait. They don’t usually do updates 15 years later lol
Ah, Zena was lovely. Just looked at google maps, and her home looks so nice. Great investment for a lovely girl. How nice to see her so excited. She knew that it was 'home'
Aww so glad the artist got her House ,and I think the new development will look great when they finish ...Glad the family got their space too ..as for Phil and Kirstie ..Great at their Job and SOOOO FUNNNY ,..my kind of tribe .
Love that Zena found a good house! Also, I was frustrated with the oriental couple, but SO SO happy to see that AWESOME new build home, that somehow Phil found for them, oh my if I could find something like that what an incredible home! Needless to say, I enjoy these shows so much more than I ever anticipated :)... I also love reading the comments too! :)
The young couple with the baby ended up with a house that was completely not what they had told Phil to find. No wonder they took over a year and a bundle of house advertisements to find what they thought they weren't looking for at all. Interesting. Great patience, Phil.
No, I think they got exactly what they were looking for. They never wanted character. They wanted a spacious move-in ready house with a clean modern look near her mom's house. And that's what they got. The only thing they "compromised" on was the village location but again, I don't think they wanted that to begin with.
For an artist, it's a feeling. Light is very important but also to be able to feel the space is going to work for you. Not some weird awkward spaces that you can't figure out what to do with them.
@Dan Romero yeah he does, he's an exceptional and lucrative broker at same time. I just bought my dream Mercedes from last weeks profit. All thanks to his expertise.
Loved the second house for the couple. I thought I would be absolutely tempted to take them to exactly what they wanted-priced at what they should realistically expect to pay. They’re looking for a fire sale.
The upside is - both sets of clients are happy with their choices. Zena seems okay with her little rabbit warren of a house as well as live/work outdoor space. Room for a boyfriend to be elsewhere while she's working, as well. Success story! The couple with the baby ultimately went for the New Build, which they should have been looking for all along...they wanted New and Shiny and Perfect - and that's pretty much what they got.
The second house was similar, but they still didn’t like it just because of the exterior. They wanted an old house facade with a brand new interior and that doesn’t really exist. Even the house they bought didn’t fit that.
There will be no view of open land on the estate once all the new housing development is done. The couple are going to be surrounded by noise and construction for a couple years. And he thought his own baby's crying was too much! They made their own bed.
The key words are "reasonable and achievable" and we all know that's a pipe dream! Everyone is reasonable until the buyer says, "Oh, by the way, I need a shed for my pet elephant!" or "I need a landing pad on the roof for my Airbus and I don't want to pay more than £200k".
LBo and Lisann should have acknowledged to themselves that they wanted a house that was newish and contemporary in STYLE, inside AND OUT. I agree with Bo that it seemed unbelievable that $550k wasn't enough. It actually was enough, PER THE BRIEF, as Phil repeatedly demonstrated, but those beautiful country homes didn't match the couple's taste. Just pretend that (Phil's) second house's exterior looked like the contemporary they bought. All the rooms, to include the important kitchen were larger as well as the yard. What would Bo's objection have been, then? Actually, he said it: the neighborhood had bungalow-style homes and he didn't like those. I can understand that the immediate area around my home has to also feel "right" for me (and my money!). But really, Phil came up with some amazing houses on the market!
Phil is a saint on this one. Everyone wants everything buuuuuut they don't have the budget. Lysan and Bo are so unrealistic. They should just stay in a small flat. My head would explode. 0ver 50 years we bought three homes, never rented, $25k first purchase to a sale of $600k over 46 years. Raised four kids and three grand kids. Buy a family home and realize how blessed you are.
I’m well aware of the time period with these episodes and the fact that the baby is full grown by now but I can’t refrain from saying how the baby is so stinking cute.
The young woman was a breath of fresh air! I loved how happy she was about her final decision but that couple! Holy moley! they both did my head in. I do not know how Phil kept his cool. They were just so irritating. They just wanted something shiny and new. I don't know why they wasted Phil's time at all.

The rest of the world usually just uses the term apartment, and again, it is used interchangably for rented or bought. @@Kevin-sm8pn thanks for the response. I always wondered. Here in America, in some areas, they do use the term flat at times for very small one level apartments you only can rent. Condos/ town houses are typically side by side multilevel fancier apartments you typically purchace/ rent. Only in big cities do people buy apartments over here. I think it should be more common here like it is everywhere else.
@@Kevin-sm8pn you're right. Condo for a purchased apartment in Canada, otherwise if it's rented, it's an apartment. Also, condos (condominiums) have monthly maintenance which have to be taken into account when adding up the total cost.
I don't know the background of the couple, but Chinese or Asian people are usually not fussy at all when it comes to space. They really should not have called for Phil and Kirstie's help because when you're that fussy, only you know what you really want.
That couple... Ugh! Exasperating, both of them. Noses perpetually wrinkled, nothing good enough for them. Two of the most unlikable people ever on that show. I could not stand them! Anybody would have looked good in contrast, but Zena's personality was so appealing! I am glad she found something that suited her and wish her only the best.
I love this show and bing watch it often but his Asian couple is testing MY patience and I am about to fast forward thru their portion. Can’t stand them and their attitude. Leave them in their small flat and move on.
Not being funny and i don't know anything about real estate, but i could have found a property for that first couple quicker, it was so obvious they just wanted a snazzy sizable new build, very modern ready to move in to! Some of the other houses they looked at would have needed a fair bit of work and money to get them up to the standard and spec of what they wanted, and most were very close to their budget, so didn't leave any cash over ! I have similar taste, and did not really like the others, but loved the last one, but not so much the location! Love barn conversions to, but this one was very old fashioned and needed a lot of work, i would want one all done out ready to move in to!

This couple are lucky to have Phil, a saint in my opinion. Your money isn't enough for the kind of house you are looking for without a compromise.
I'm delighted the young girl got the house and street she loves , she's so positive

I would have painted the house a dark colour and put white shutters each side of the windows & eventually replace the asphalt with grass.
Frankly, the couple were treating Phil like a servant, and not like a professional helping them in their need. Yuck.
