    Good video, just a tip from us northern climate people. Buy a tube off anti-seize and put it on the rotor mounting screws. The next time they will come out real easy. I also put a little of the anti-seize on the back side of the rotor where it touches bolts, helps getting the rotor off too. I would also recommend replacing the brake pad guide clips. Cheap easy part to replace. Nice video.

    Great video, perfectly paced and very clear camera work. Suggestion, those pesky rotor screws are not phillips, they're JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) which is a different cut. Vessel is a go to brand. I like to push the pistons back and stick a wedge/block so they don't creep closed.

    Great video quality. Complete. Like the extra steps going above and beyond like lubing the pins.
    Did you use a single compression tool...that is all I have.

    Thank you for the video. I just did this brake job and I had trouble with the top caliper guide pin sticking on the driver side even after I greased it. Do I need to replace it or is it normal for that one to be stiff?

    Very helpful video. The only trouble I had were those springs. After they're reinstalled, they want to pop out the pads. Not sure why they didn't in this example. And of course, the pistons have to be compressed again before reattaching. But overall a good video. Thanks for the work, 1AAuto.

      I had the same problem. I used 4" C clamps on very top and bottom of pads, then started caliper over pads and removed C clamps before fully pushing caliper on. "I win!"

    Forgot to compress the piston and clean the piston boots. Leave master cylinder cap open to relieve pressure. Clean the rust off the hub. Then check lateral runout to Honda Spec.
    Forgot to mention that the piston must be compressed slowly and brake bleeder must be opened to pull fluid to avoid contamination (ensuring air is not drawn into system and closed when compression while ends). With ABS, the brakes should be bleed after the change. Also, cleaning stud threads and back of wheel to ensure proper mount and lug nut torque. Washing the rotor with soap and water does a better job than brake cleaner. Removes any small residual metal more effectively. The caliper bolt threads need to be cleaned and checked they make a snug fit. Any play and they must be replaced. The mating bracket threads need to be cleaned as well or the torque could be impacted. Nice demonstration video. However, people should not use it as a guide.

    Great video, just curious, I didn't see it anywhere in the video, but did you pre-loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap? and then once you got the caliper off I never saw you compress the pistons back in so the caliper could slide easily over the new pads during install...that still has to be done? correct?

    • @SpeedGasmEvo9
      @SpeedGasmEvo9 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you will need to press back the piston after you have remove brake reservoir cap. This will prevent it from pressure/Air build up in the brake lines which causes soft/pongee brake feel........hope that helps.

      I was about to say the same thing the only reason I would say that is one time I forgot and I don't know why I've done tons of brake job I forgot to take the cap off and I blew out the master cylinder

  • @albertgaleng

    Do you open the brake fluid cap when removing the caliper

    • @SpeedGasmEvo9
      @SpeedGasmEvo9 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you do not need to but you will need to be removed before you press the brake piston back.

    Are the shim backer plates on the pads supposed to be easily removed? I just received these pads and shims come off freely if pulled slightly. Thanks

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Lariviere The shims should stay on the back of the pads and not move.

      1A Auto Parts thanks. They should be placed in the caliper bracket without adhesive or anything? Mine are fairly loose...would you advise me returning these or perhaps putting brake caliper lube between the shim and pad backer plate?

    Why no Thread Locker on the Caliper Bracket Mounting Bolts?

    • @jejeroy
      @jejeroy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      loll im not a mechanics but i just did remark the same thing he put it without adding some thread locker on the bolt i just watched another video telling how to replace it and on the other video they did put some thread locker on the bolt and explain why its require some thread locker and also we dont see if he did compress the pistons back and he did not show how to clean the pistons .. and he did not install a new caliper hardware kit he just use the same rusty hardware and cleaned the rust with a metal brush its 16$ for the front and rear kit

    Nice video. I was watching and the ClosedCaptiona somehow got turned on. You say "torque the lug nuts to 95 foot lbs" and the text that shows is "295 foot lbs". I know it's just the youtube player doing this, but I hope no one reads that and used that number.
