Thanks for checking out UM. I'm their FoH engineer. I would like to point out a out a few things you'll find interesting. From 3:36 to 11:30 is improv. It was based around a riff that Jake brought to soundcheck. 90% of that was created from scratch in situ. Also, thanks for the complements on tone. You're hearing the live board mix without any post processing (aside from TH-cam compression). The band uses a talkback mic system to discuss cues, keys, song selection, etc., in addition to their "Improv Sign Language for Musicians".
Ok. Wow. Thanks for jumping in. I’d love to learn more about the “improv sign language for musicians.” Wild Wild stuff and great sound my friend!! Must be a rare treat to mix this band.

Seen them over the last 13+ years and I’ve never not left a show blown away grinning ear to ear. So glad they are getting the recognition they deserve.
I love the way you always breakdown songs. But this time it's great seeing how confused and admired you are. Keep doing this, thanks for the inspiration. Greetings from across the ocean.
Your reaction, to this band I have loved for so long now, is priceless... it took me back to the first time I heard them and reacted similarly... mind blown. I have now seen them a dozen or so times and they still blow my mind. Definitely an advanced musician band...not for everyone.

Once I saw the song you'd be reacting to, I knew this would be a treat to watch. Been seeing these guys since 2003 and they are the best. Love it! Thanks for doing these videos...as a former band nerd turned huge jam band/live music nerd the explanation of the mechanics combined with the joy of being a music fan is the best. Thanks for doing what you do!
I love this reaction to the greatest band that's ever graced the earth. I've heard them do basically every genre except for edm, country, and rap, and I wouldnt be surprised if I just havent heard those songs yet! Every new song I hear, its just pure destruction and reconstruction of what I thought music could be.
I am grinning from ear to ear your reaction to WBG made my night. Now I'm too excited to sleep this is the happiest I've been in a while. Thank you so much for doing this
Holy #@&$!!! What an awesome band. Thanks for bringing this unreal band to my attention. Your lessons and breakdowns of the music are brilliant. A huge bonus is uncovering some truly remarkable music.
So amazing to watch an educated musician experience umphreys for the first time like this. Especially when you "sound out" the riffs on the first listen. You should do a react video for any The Aristocrats song. I suggest Bad Asteroid, Get it Like That, or Furtive Jack
I was searching TH-cam for a great video for Phish's song David Bowie. Theres an awesome video from Clifford ball. Awesome watching your channel gain steam man!
This is amazing. I love this channel and what you’re doing. I’m fairly new to the jam band scene, but it continues to blow me away the musicianship and creativity. Thank you for introducing me to new songs and improving my guitar playing!
When I first started seeing this band, I would be at the show laughing my ass off. Laughing at the absurd skill of all of them. Watching your reactions and your face slowly melting has brought me back to that time good sir. I was basically belly laughing a good 75% of this video. Love seeing an Umphreak being born right in front of my eyes...on a screen.
Umphrey’s is killer! Best band! So fluid and improv is on point. Check out nothing too fancy, miss tinkles overture, mulches oddessy, Wappy sprayberry for some amazing music
The next time I restring and cleanup my guitar (for more than 2 weeks this time I swear) I'm definitely checking out your lessons. I've really enjoyed the phish/wsp/um stuff because I've had to justify it to friends for so long that it's cool to have a learned ear explain with terms I don't understand that there is really a talent to what these artists accomplish. Would love to see rebubula from moe. on your channel.
Conduit - Umphrey’s Mcgee (Chicago, 8/7/13) (on youtube) would be an absolutely great pick for this. Song is digestible but the jam following is absolutely top notch and stands out from the rest for me personally. Give it a listen ya’ll, insane stuff.
No Doubt! These Humping McGee guy's are a Amazing band. Take it to new levels of JAM! I haven't been able to get enough since I saw your first vid. Thank you my Big Brother Of Guitar 👍
Never heard of UMPH before now but what a great band! Made me think (in my antiquated reference system) of Focus: Hocus Pocus! Would love to hear your take on Jan Akkerman!

Hi Michael, I don't play guitar, wish I did, but I have been fortunate to have seen virtually every legendary rock guitarist out there. To me, out of all of them as live performers, Jake is my favorite. The command, the diversity, everything. Loving your reactions and insights, many of my musician friends react similarly, they can't believe it.
I watch these UM reactions all the time. Makes me smile every single damn time. I can't wait til live music is back and you can see them in person for the first time. You're going to lose your mind lol

Well you've nailed down two corners of the Umphrey's multigon. There's a jazz corner, a country corner, an 80's rock corner, an untz corner, a funk corner...you get the idea. I love when Jake channels his inner Danny Gatton best.
kenneth McKean me too. I love Jake’s clean country Danny Gatton style licks.. I’ve seen them around 50 times now since 2005. I really hope this corona business goes away because I really want to get back out to red rocks for the 4th time this year
To this day I still say Myers is criminally overlooked because of what Cinnengar and Bayliss create with their ability to compliment each other and make their guitar solos intertwine with each other....Myers is a beast on the kit, in a class all his own!
Been a huge fan of the boys for nearly as long as they've been around. As someone who has seen a lot of top notch rock shows by many of the best rock bands out there I can honestly say that you'll never see a better live rock show than Umphrey's.
Watching you fall in love with my favorite band genuinely makes me happy. I hope to run into you at a show one day. Great video, keep em coming!
Very cool to see an accomplished musician just blown away by a performance...and not without cause. Outstanding!
Can we just give the light guys a shout out Umph's may have one of the best light shows period...................
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed you geeking out to this, umphrey's is a phenomenal band
I was searching TH-cam for a great video for Phish's song David Bowie. Theres an awesome video from Clifford ball. Awesome watching your channel gain steam man!
great reaction, you gotta see them live! what a treat, such an amazing band.
Watching you more and more...LOVE IT...and you keep playing GREAT songs like this UM!!!- THANK YOU!!!
Pretty much stuck in the house too :( I'm 68 and can't stop worrying with the age thing. At least these vids are keeping me sane. 👍🇭🇲
Stop watching the News. The News contrives to frighten you.
It's a cold, Kevin! A cold that only .000069% of the world's population will actually get. Keep living your life as is.
This is amazing. I love this channel and what you’re doing. I’m fairly new to the jam band scene, but it continues to blow me away the musicianship and creativity. Thank you for introducing me to new songs and improving my guitar playing!
Crying laughing right now...one of my fav umphs tunes right here and the reactions are pure F'n gold man. I love it so much.
Dude your reactions are just the best! Love seeing you light up.
You get it!
Yes! One of my favorite UM songs. Hands down favorite band.
Umphrey’s is killer! Best band! So fluid and improv is on point. Check out nothing too fancy, miss tinkles overture, mulches oddessy, Wappy sprayberry for some amazing music
UTOPIAN FIR
omg I so much love this channel now, thanks Michael, you are awesome!
You have to go see these guys live!! They are the dopest tightest band ever
I'm just going to bunker down with my guitar for two weeks! ✌
RIGHT ON! I hope you do, and I'll add it to the list!
@@Guitargate or better yet,th-cam.com/video/0O2Wwbjm4UM/w-d-xo.html
Yea rebelula is the shit.. I've seen UM cover it b4
Thank you for more umphreys man always a great time watching you break stuff down
And there goes Joel. “It’s like this is a totally different band.” Yup, that’s UM.
this video was so fun to watch bro keep doing more umphrey’s vidss❤️
Love it. Had never heard of these guys, but they're on the list now. Thanks.
I can’t wait to see this dude at a show. Cuz he’s going. He fuggin gets it. 💜
Never heard of UMPH before now but what a great band! Made me think (in my antiquated reference system) of Focus: Hocus Pocus! Would love to hear your take on Jan Akkerman!
I was at that show... faces were melted.
Will McCranie guess I don’t need to send you a link to this, then hahaha
You are a man for the people. I really appreciate your content!!!!
We do love UM.
UM had to cancel Rockjavik next week in Iceland, so we're all doing this instead. They have FREE shows all weekend online streaming the 2018 California run on demand over the course of the next three nights. 👖🚫🧤✅

@@jasoncrowell189 Cool thx
Thanks!!!
TOTALLY. Thanks!
I watch these UM reactions all the time. Makes me smile every single damn time. I can't wait til live music is back and you can see them in person for the first time. You're going to lose your mind lol
Dude I CANT WAIT
@@Guitargate I remember seeing this song live at my first UM show in Detroit a few years back and at that moment I knew I was at the point of no return. Have seen them every year since! This isn't the specific show I was at, but just love this version of it! th-cam.com/video/kecGFTdQekU/w-d-xo.html
BRO!!!!! Once again you need to check out Umph- GLory!!!!!!!!! By far one of the greatest guitar orientated jam song i have ever heard
I will second this. The song is, for lack of a better word, Glorious.
Indeed do glory
what a great umphrey's track for doing what you do... just awesome.
Umphreys McGhee is pure flex of musical talent.
I really hope this corona business goes away because I really want to get back out to red rocks for the 4th time this year
Love the description as they're like 20 bands in one. Now I have a comeback when someone complains that I only listen to a few bands.
Best band alive right now; they are all so fucking talented.
“Wizard Burial Ground”
The most fitting name. I am completely mind blown.
To this day I still say Myers is criminally overlooked because of what Cinnengar and Bayliss create with their ability to compliment each other and make their guitar solos intertwine with each other....Myers is a beast on the kit, in a class all his own!
Clinton Crites Nah, I don’t think he’s overlooked. He drives that band like a freight train. Best in the biz!
Legit metal head too
Damn dude, someone threw you into the deep end of the Umph pool with WBG. Been listening to UM for 18 years, I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction.
Hate to brag but.... 🤚
He talked about dime bag over and over again on the puppet strings reaction. Figured this was a good one to set the hook.
@@harpobro Thank you
Been a huge fan of the boys for nearly as long as they've been around. As someone who has seen a lot of top notch rock shows by many of the best rock bands out there I can honestly say that you'll never see a better live rock show than Umphrey's. Love the fact that you can still see them for less than 50$....it's highway robbery! \m/
