Amy has decent gameplay, but she needs more attacks that involves her Piko Piko Hammer instead of just her cards. She just toss them like Shurikens, similar to Sonic's Sonic Boom attack. She also needs her own Phantom Rush too, but call it Phantom Hammer. Like if her hammer was bigger and does MASSIVE damage.
Amy has my favorite gameplay out of the three. Her moveset is fluid, and fun for platforming. I do wish she would have used her hammer more, but this is definitely a step up from her playstyle in the adventure games.
Or instead of it making her teleport quickly doing damage they could make it feel more unique and signature by having it as one charged attack similar to a limit break and have her smash a massive version of her hammer
I love Amy so much, not only is the music good, but she actually has some of her abilities from adventure and or sonic advance trilogy. She plays decently well even in combat although i think tails, knuckles and amy's combat needs to be fletched out a bit more, it feels like your doing something but at the same time your not, maybe thats just because the enemies are faster and stronger on this island but anyways everything was good. I especially love how they gave amy the drift and the boost, it feels like the boost from sonic unleashed wii. But i think my favorite thing is amys summersault because that looks sick!
Okay I’m being honest: Amy is fucking cute. While the other characters grunts sound more aggressive, Amy is basically humming to herself. Also: *GODDAMN SHE’S FUCKING FAST*
Well blow me down, I was wrong! Kind of. Once you beat the other story section towards the end of the game, you can freely switch between all the characters on any of the islands afterward.
And here I am, thinking I know what they're trying to do: not many people (that just started with Sonic) would really know Amy does Fortune Card reading (I know, Sonic does mention it, but other than that?).
Personally though, I do think leaning into the cards more helps differentiate her from Knuckles as the bruiser of the group. Here she’s more depicted like the mage of the group and it works for her. That said, while I do think she should have her hammer, it should be for charging attacks.
I think my biggest issue with Amy is her Card Cycle. On the one hand, it’s fast, creative, allows her to drift, and is overall a fantastic means of mobility. But on the other, that delay where she creates the bike kinda ruins the whole ability for me, especially when she airboosts, so I kinda wish I could turn it off

Honestly I've never known much of the sonic lore, franchise or games yet I still love it. Back to what I want to say, the Amys I have seen never used magical deck cards for battle or anything except HAMMER but honestly this just makes her more cooler, deadlier and cute at the same time

They put a lot of effort into amy. Of everyone I enjoy her running animation the most. She moves as if she has mass which I feel lacks in sonics running animation. And the direction of focusing on the use of tarot cards was a fun new direction even though she's always been known to use them you never really saw it.

She can have her super special magical unique and wonderful tarot cards without almost completely getting rid of her hammer. Yeah but based on what I Researched. Amy knuckles and tails can straight up destroy half of the bullet sponge enemies insanely quickly thanks to the cyclone abilities Basically spider+ once you cyclone all its projectiles and stun it if you continue to cyclone spider+ and it starts to change colour where you can 1 shot destroy it while being stunned. And silver hammer you can keep spam Cylooping it until every single piece of silver hammer is gone meaning it bypasses the bullet sponge HP which is really cool for me because every other tower enemy before update 3 has a limit how much you can Cyloop it. Ghost is just ghost don’t need to type much be good at platforming. While tank+ caterpillar+ and master Ninja+ the other characters can inf combo them thanks to the cyclone if you know what your doing but they are still bullet sponges so I don’t recommend facing them with other characters unless you max the damage stats. Because tank+ Caterpillar+ and master Ninja+ are basically more designed for sonic to fight because 2 of them are the beta versions. And master Ninja+ basically is the most difficult guardian to face in the game for sonic, so imagine the difficulty for the other characters. Because if Amy Knuckes or tails was not this OP, against half the guardians of update 3, we would definitely see more hammer attacks, Because the cyclone is that OP.

One thing I still couldn’t figure out is how you can be able to upgrade your ring capacity or speed. I thought the elder Koco could do that when you bring more Koco to him and he does all the work. How do you upgrade the speed and ring traits then?

Okay. So people may disagree with me here, but I typically prefer romantic gag Amy from previous sonic eras (except meta era, ofcourse. Amy in free riders is definitely the worst hands down.) I just like how silly and wholesome she was back then. And while I wouldn't mind her current depiction, I'd be more satisfied if she had developed that growth instead of just giving her a character surgery to fix the issues that people had with her. Some people say that they developed from the idw comics. But like what development? The comics pretty much just have her fix as soon as she appeared in it. And I don't like the sitcom relationship she has with Sonic. They honestly feel like American randos playing as these game cast. I know these casts tend to be inconsistent in like all the time i guess. I guess because it's an open world game where you have to go fast and explore, it's understandable that the characters are fast and very similar to Sonic for Gameplay purposes. Can they for the love of gawd give Amy spandex underneath the skirt or a tweaked design like Boom... In games like Sonic, it's pretty hard to avoid such uncomfortable up skirt, I mean its there in this bloody thumbnail. Honestly, for me it's kinda frustrating that all trapped Sonic's friends - Amy, Knuckles and Tails - have same basic controls which belongs only to Sonic himself: homing attack, double jump and boost. But Cyloop, fortunately, is not included: Sonic's friends are... you know, not stable in real life, they are holograms of thing, and it looks fair that in this form they can leave a sort of light-digital trace)

Amy gets dizzy?
Okay. So people may disagree with me here, but I typically prefer romantic gag Amy from previous sonic eras (except meta era, ofcourse. Amy in free riders is definitely the worst hands down.) I just like how silly and wholesome she was back then. And while I wouldn't mind her current depiction, I'd be more satisfied if she had developed that growth instead of just giving her a character surgery to fix the issues that people had with her. Some people say that they developed from the idw comics. But like what development? The comics pretty much just have her fix as soon as she appeared in it. And I don't like the sitcom relationship she has with Sonic. They honestly feel like American randos playing as these game cast. I know these casts tend to be inconsistent in like all the time i guess. But like Blue smug having this spare or kill arc like it's DC's injustice which Sonic doesn't normally comes across nor is it his business; Tails being like if boom tails went to college and is all grown up and matured right off the bat making Frontiers meaningless; Master Overlord ended up being Master Overhyped; heck Softie the Cinnamonroll ain't even trying to be Silver the Hedgehog, Silver's not a small bean in the games, especially when you listen his Japanese voice. There's a lot that i dislike about IDW. But I'm not gonna talk about them any further.
Anyway, the amy gameplay. It's fine i guess. I like the cards and all that. But I'd like a different parry skill. How about making her disappear like a magician. She should also have more magic haxes to her gameplay. Like making magic cards affect the environment and use those affected environments to travers and mess with enemies like Nihilumbra, affect herself with magical powerups, affect enemies, turn them into cards (sound familiar?)
I would also suggest something silly. And that silly something would be taming an enemy, ride at them, make them fight other enemies, and use them to get to places that other characters can't. Now😅 I know that kinda sounds pretty stupid but I ah.. 😁 I think it works pretty well Amy. Plus😄 when has logic been a thing in sonic?
Now this my opinion, but I don't like also don't like she moves. She moves just like Sonic. I think amy should get a boost when using her hammer jump on springs and dash pads.
But🙄 oh well, I guess i have nothing else say about Amy's gameplay.

I guess because it's an open world game where you have to go fast and explore, it's understandable that the characters are fast and very similar to Sonic for Gameplay purposes.
I think if Amy had a Spin Off dedicated to her, a unique gameplay could be created for her and explore that kind of magical abilities more, but because it's a Sonic game, it's understandable that the characters share some similarities with Sonic.

Way too many attacks focused on the cards rather than her Hammer. I miss old Amy so much. The cards are okay.. but way too focused on here.
Her tarot cards make her more unique and remarkable than just another bruiser like Knuckles. Since there are already so many characters that are just strong, Amy needed something unique and to set her apart from others. I agree that her hammer is iconic and should be used more, but the cards, add a good repertoire for Amy, plus it expands her character in the field of mystical things, being the only character in this area (at least in the games).

Can they for the love of gawd give Amy spandex underneath the skirt or a tweaked design like Boom... In games like Sonic, it's pretty hard to avoid such uncomfortable up skirt, I mean its there in this bloody thumbnail. I suppose even adding some shadow like how Smash did with the princesses, but the design feels unnecessary and dated

Honestly, for me it's kinda frustrating that all trapped Sonic's friends - Amy, Knuckles and Tails - have same basic controls which belongs only to Sonic himself: homing attack, double jump and boost. But Cyloop, fortunately, is not included: Sonic's friends are... you know, not stable in real life, they are holograms of thing, and it looks fair that in this form they can leave a sort of light-digital trace)

Bruh why did they turn her into Chain of Memories gameplay, the tarot card pandering is already getting really tiring and one-note with how often they bring it up in recent projects, and now she's even barely using the hammer? Shame
It’s not any different than using her hammer,plus that’s something that came from a mainline game rather than a forgotten spinoff.
