Flipping Through my Full Sketchbook! (tour)

  • It's great to look back at all the hours and hours I've spent pouring myself into these pages. Each drawing brings back memories from where I was in my life at that point. In that way it is an art journal or an art diary as well. Something about drawing in a sketchbook like this makes me try a little harder on each drawing, but in a wholesome motivational way, I think.
    This sketchbook is a Crescent Rendr

    To the idiots complaining about the sketchbook's price, if you only consider how many man hours were put into it (even ignoring the artistic and sentimental values), the price is more than fair. If you just want to own pretty pictures, you can always buy a poster or a comic book.

    It's difficult to read all the messages you get, so I don't know if this will make it to you, but I have to thank you for something. Several years ago I bought a drawing book similar to what you have here, but I never started because I didn't know what I wanted to put in it and was avoiding starting it thinking I'd ruin it. But after looking through yours, I finally have an idea of what to put in it. So thank you.

    To anyone who wants to learn to draw like Peter, by simply consuming his art and being mindful as you enjoy his deliberate thumbing through the sketchbook- you are already on your way there. For he has already given you many pieces of wisdom just by showing you these few pages. Experiment with media. Each page is a different idea. Finish the sketchbook once you start. Finish the drawing once you start. Black and white is beautiful. Color is beautiful. Sometimes lines are just enough. Enjoy looking at your own art once it is done, and never lose the childlike mindset that allows for this type of sketching! Peter has simply a mature and refined approach at imagination; the same imagination that is inherent in each of us. It is fuel for the universe and is the pure ability to create from nothing.

    Really liked this video, mainly because you just didn't flip the sketchbook, you actually told us the little story behind each of your draiwings. I really admire the fact that you don't rip pages, you don't stop and don't redo your drawing because of little incidents that cause mistakes; you actually create from those unwanted lines or coffee stains.

Plus if it supports the artist and gives him more time to share knowledge with us on you tube then I support it fully:)

    I love how a lot of the very interesting and thought provoking additions to some of these were initiated by a mistake. Accidentally making a mark, messing up on cross hatching, and spilling coffee. And my the sounds of it, he didn’t let it get him down or get aggravated by the mess up. He saw it as an opportunity to make it better and add more into each piece. Truly a metaphor for life and it’s beautiful.

    I saw the run time of this video and thought I'd just press the arrow keys to speed through it to just glance quickly at the art. Instead I found myself watching the whole thing and pausing to admire the work. His work is really beautiful. I love how you can just roam the page with your eye and see all these little details. He puts so much work into each piece. One thing I really liked about this video was that he admitted where he made mistakes and showed how he turned it into part of the picture. It's nice to know even someone like him makes mistakes but also that you can just incorporate them. I know I'm late to the party but thanks for sharing this Peter.

    What are those symbols through your book?
    They catch my eye when I look.
    Oh they do appear like Dwarvish runes,
    All squidged up like grandma's prunes.
    How neat they seem; all in a line,
    And that would be just fine;
    But curiosity you see,
    Has cut a wound into me,
    And it will not heal until I obtain;
    The name of the symbols that your book does contain.

      ティールキノコ an acceptable attempt at poetry, but I think what a lot of people don't realize is that poems aren't just about rhyming. You have to have the right rhythm, the amount of syllables have to line up, and it should make sense and flow like a story. Thats what seperates a good poem from an amateur one.

    Also, you're so talented! This is the kind if art I love and understand. Your sketches are better than 95% of most ppls finished work!

    Amazing how even the most alien of designs feels authentic coming from you, Peter.

    Everyone always says, "I can't do art, and you're so good at it" You're good because you practice, you've devoted your life to it, and that is inspirational on a whole other level. To see the progress, to see development in style and obsession with a certain form in such condensed space is amazing.

    My fav video you have made, I think because it's the first one I've seen. It's amazing how well you were and how much you have grown as an artist. Keep up the good work buddy.
