  • What am I doing in California? Wasn’t I just in Korea? Well I’m from here and it’s been 5 years since I’ve been back. Of course I’m here for family but even more importantly I’m here for bouldering…. I visited a bunch of gyms in California and to my surprise I found out the difference in gyms here compared to Korea. My goal was to figure out where I score on the V system. Could I do a V5 after 4 months of bouldering?

Hahah I'm experiencing the inverse of you. SoCal native, in Korea visiting and absolutely getting humbled by momentum based, dynamic movement. It's fun as hell though and a breath of fresh air to be forced to work on your weaknesses. I'm gonna miss them jugs though 😭 Keep it up bro

Man I wish I was close enough to go there often. I’ll be looking forward to going again next time I’m in town.

That's interesting to see your perspective coming from Korean climbing gyms! I see a lot of dynamic and coordination based moves from Korean gyms on IG all the time, and want to go try! Have you seen Jonathan Sin's recent video on Korean climbing?
Also shout out to Pacific Pipe (one of the home gyms for me)!

Yes I actually saw Jonathan’s video right before uploading which was so cool to see him talk about Korean gym culture. You definitely should go try. You can hit Korea and Japan in one trip!

I had no idea. I’ll have to swing by next time I’m in the area. Thank you.
