This band instantly heals me. So real and beautiful. I knew there was a reason I connected with “lifer” I have my boyfriend in my life who is also struggling with addiction and mental illness. This song resignated with me! Jenn, thank you for doing music!
"Hot As Day" on Radio Paradise is the song that sucked me into the wonderful sounds of this amazing band. I've never looked back. I'd recommend Wye Oak to anyone - and have.
Wye Oak is never stagnant always moving forward. Every release is departure from the previous album. What remans consistent is strong beautiful melodies sung in a provocative voice.
What an awesome band. I love their music so, so much. Only discovered them about 8 months ago and the joy discovering their catalogue is pretty boundless.
KEXP live performances are always great to watch and listen to. The artists and the songs are great, but what I especially like are the conversations with the artists. And did I mention that I love Jenn! She is awesome - writes songs, has these great stories behind the songs, sings, plays multiple instruments...And she's also got the looks on top of all that (especially like her hairstyle)
I love these guys. "Watching the Waiting" from Tween has been one of my favourite earworms since I first heard it. Time to track down their new album and give it a serious listening session....
After hearing the explanation of Lifer, I have to say thank you for writing that song! People with mental illness don't get a lot of understanding, or individuals who will love them for who they are. So inspired! You hit the nail on the head!

They're so talented. Im glad there's a more recent live session of them!
Jenn's emotional vocabulary makes me feel like it would be impossible to share her company without having a great conversation, including just sitting by the same fire without saying a word.
Love this band!! Both are so talented. The more I listen to their different albums, the more I discover new things I didn't hear before. Lately been diggin' on "No Dreaming" and some of the other tunes from Tween. Been so lucky to see them several times live in NC which is also amazing. Keep making great music Jenn and Andy - (and new guy) :)
I think OP is probably referring to the stuff they released before "Shriek" in 2014, which was a big change in their sound, but possibly they could mean the really old, pre-2008 stuff. There were three albums before "Shriek", which were in order "If Children" "The Knot" and "Civilian". My favourite old Wye Oak songs are That I Do, Mary is Mary, I Hope You Die, and I Don't Feel Young. My recommendation is that you listen to as much of it as you can and decide what you like for yourself.
My favorite band from Maryland...isn't she doing some stuff with Justin Vernon currently? That guy is a great talent predator (in a good way)....such a voice should be preserved forever.
Y'all gotta change the thumbnail for this video. Jenn's so pretty, and this band is so awesome, and you guys picked the most awkward face for the feed thumbnail. Not very nice, KEXP.
The talent in this band is phenomenal but the thing that attracted me the most about them is Jenn's lyrics. It's pretty rare to find an American artist who writes with such beautiful imagery. I know it sounds a bit critical but there is very little creativity in American songwriting.
Jenn Wasner has a voice that could build universes.
she blows my mind, since 2014
She has the best singing voice of all time IMO
It could not be put better.
"Thank you invisible radio audience" I love this so much
Such an incredible sound - I discovered the band on spotify and am loving this performance!
So nostalgic her voice is. Lovely!

Wye Oak is one of if not my favorite band.
good group, hello to you from irkutsk, from siberia, I recognized and found you by the song of a civilian from walking
"Hot As Day" on Radio Paradise is the song that sucked me into the wonderful sounds of this amazing band. I've never looked back. I'd recommend Wye Oak to anyone - and have.
especially thankful for live recordings of incredible artists right now.
that guitar tone is wild. love it.
Wye Oak is never stagnant always moving forward. Every release is departure from the previous album. What remans consistent is strong beautiful melodies sung in a provocative voice.
I love this band, new record is just crazy beautiful. Her voice gets me every time
The tone and breath of Jen's voice always draws me in.
What an awesome band. I love their music so, so much. Only discovered them about 8 months ago and the joy discovering their catalogue is pretty boundless.

One of those golden KEXP performances
I just started listening to this band and its cool to see them live.
I love these guys. "Watching the Waiting" from Tween has been one of my favourite earworms since I first heard it. Time to track down their new album and give it a serious listening session....
No kidding that song is impossibly catchy. Her voice sounds absolutely incredible on it too.

They are even amazing live. Been struggling with depression and Lifer really touches me, thank you.
chin up...
Jenn's emotional vocabulary makes me feel like it would be impossible to share her company without having a great conversation, including just sitting by the same fire without saying a word.
Just perfect! Can't wait to see them again
Natural talent.

Jenn is just...... wow. I cant even. So skilled. So beautiful musically. (And physically not that it means a damn thing)
Wye Oak☺🎶💕
🌟 KEXP
great
Such a mature and established voice. Reminds me of Annie Lennox with a little Paula Cole mixed in.
great performance
Awesome!🎵
...this is cool...i hear early shins with portugal. the man camping with phases and deep sea diver at coachella...
Love them so much!, but miss their original sound
could you help me out and reference some older stuff of theirs thats good? I'm new to this band but like it

This is a beautiful example of the older sound.

Great vibe :)
Dang this band is underrated
Come to Dutchland!
She is so cute
Waiting for civilian, memories of shane
We stan you Mr. Andy Stack
My favorite band from Maryland...isn't she doing some stuff with Justin Vernon currently? That guy is a great talent predator (in a good way)....such a voice should be preserved forever.
Jenn will always be my crush.

skills are afoot
when did they get a third?
she will be my crush forever
Dude... two ads now? this is getting ridiculous
The thumnail pic has got meme character.
The talent in this band is phenomenal but the thing that attracted me the most about them is Jenn's lyrics.

I know it sounds a bit critical but there is very little creativity in American songwriting.
Lopez Thomas Johnson Timothy Brown James
I enjoy Jimmy Fallon’s bass playing more than his TV persona
This is giving me a headache.
