I’m on my third Mustang. I’ve had an ‘86 SVO, an ‘04 Cobra and I now have a ‘16 GT 350. All great cars that were and are a blast to drive. I do not like the headlights or dashboard of the new Mustang.
I understand where you're coming from.the only issue i had was the cluster. But when I went to my local dealer in drove one I actually fell in love with it. The technology is quite challenging to me being 52 year old man. But I ended up getting a dark horse absolutely love the car!
As someone who went from an enthusiast approved pure driving experience (GR86) to a mustang the gate keeping is real. Even in an enthusiast trim manual performance pack GT I'm still hesitant to tell people what I drive. It's fun but at the same time relaxed and easy. But since its a bloated, heavy American musle car you're always acutely aware you're driving the wrong car according to "real enthusiasts". The assumption is you can only like the mustang if you haven't experienced something more connected or pure. The truth is we don't all have access to mountain or canyon roads, we may not want or need all the steering and chassis feedback in the world.
@@AlanisKing simply making the buckets accessible to a larger swath of the population is WHY the new Mustang has been so popular. Along with the Challenger (IMO). The Camaro has ALWAYS had an extreeemely male (and often more mod-focused) demographic from what I can tell.
You're showing your young age when you say it's comfortable in the trunk (-; The Caddy I own is a check off my bucket list. I've owned Camaros, Vettes, motorcycles, sport trucks, GT this and Sport that but I've never owned a (Funstang) Mustang. Very good granddaughter (-;
I’ve had four Mustangs of a lot of variety from 1980 model thru to 2004, but none since. And as a “Mustang Guy”, I really enjoyed this look at the new GT model. Glad the trunk is bigger than the Miata ND3 🤣 Even though I may never buy another one again, I think the Mustang is one of the all time greatest and most important American cars. And I thoroughly enjoyed this review!
Great video. When I was in highschool, the fast and furious was a huge influence on our car culture. People wanted Civics, integras, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Evo's...very JDM
Another great review, Alanis! Your enthusiasm makes me want to drive one of these, if not own it--I don't want to think about the likely insurance premiums or gas costs. One question: The Throttle House guys (and some other reviewers) love the car except they find the steering totally numb, and hence not confidence-inspiring in hard cornering. Your thoughts on that? Maybe only a drawback on track or when seriously hooning the GT?
Thank you for watching 🤠 I def trust them on the steering observations, but I only got to drive the Mustang on public roads (thus not at track speeds to really put the steering to the test). The steering was totally fine for me in road driving, but I’d want to do track time before making a final judgment on its numbness there
The biggest knock I have on the S650 is completely reusing the S550 chassis and most of its guts and that brings in the numb feeling of S550’s and their weird steering. Oh and the locked ECU, Mustangs are meant to be modified.
The Mustang is and has been a living legend! Excellent review as always Alanis! I’m actually a bit surprised about just how big the trunk is…I always thought the Mustang had a relatively small trunk, but it looks like a good Sam’s or Costco hauler too! Keep up the amazing content!!
I loved this video, especially the cinematography and music choice, but I wish the music used was credited in the description, especially with some of these classical pieces that I've heard a ton but don't know the name of.
It's so nice to have a car reviewer who isn't overwhelmed by the new technologies of modern cars. I like to geek out in the menus. Also Silent Exhaust for the win!
I’m on my second Mustang. Used to own a 2020 GT500 but it was tough to winterize. Now I own a 2024 GT premium in Vapor Blue with the quad tips and the Brembo package. It also has the 401A package on the interior. Love the look of the performance package but the summer only tires were a no go for me. Love the car. My only two small complaints are the fake vents on the lower portion of the grill and the Ford insignia on the front window. Other than that I highly recommend the car.
My first ever vehicle was a Dodge Ram 2500, then I owned a mustang. I absolutely loved it. I wasn’t even an enthusiast at that point. However the more I started getting into cars the less I liked the mustang and found my way to the Japanese cars. I say “ less I liked” but I still really like mustangs. I do really like this generation. But I think I’m keeping my GR Corolla
Great video. Jeff Gordon shirt is cool. I do feel like this generation Mustang is a bit more “robotic” versus the prior gen, which was more organic and smooth, while being retro. HOWEVER, having seen the new ones in the wild now, I have to admit, they have more “presence” than the old one. I think these new ones look better in person than on videos.
American cars are back. We live in a world where a $70k Mustang Dark Horse can hang with a BMW M4 Competition on the track. And I like that world. And I like Mustangs. And if you want pure muscle car, there’s always Mopar. Or was. Which is why I have a Last Call Challenger.
Awesome video, just subscribed. Most car reviews are so dry and cookie-cutter, and yours was the total opposite. I like that you emphasized the emotional aspect that comes with the decision when buying a certain car, it doesn't always have to be completely logical, sometimes have to less loose and have fun. Having previously owned a widebody scatpack challenger shaker manual. I decided to test drive the 24 GT…it wasn’t for me…it was nice. But I drive one that had the recaro seats. I was super uncomfortable in them…and the car lacked the low end torque compared to the challenger. I found the MT82 transmission to shift nicely….but overall. I’d get another challenger like I had…before I get a Mustang
i'm am AOK with the Lexus no screen, you wanna put a screen on the entertainment fine, but you put a potential expensive fault at the core operation of the vehicle and that's just never going to get my money
@@mikevsworld Its the price of moving forward unfortunately. This is like saying you never bought a smartphone because one of the old nokias will last longer.
it could be argued we should have stuck with the nokias but you are not gaining anything and "moving forward" by going from a rolex to a casio digital screen
@@mikevsworld I get your point, my gripe is with many car guys who claim "this analog thing is outdated, but this modern screen is too much" This is why companies dont know what to do with sports cars anymore.
i immediately guessed that the one thing Alanis wasn't gonna like about the car being the instrument cluster before we even reached that segment of the vid, and it's hilarious that I guessed it right off the bat. I work in car rental, and I and all of my coworkers who have gotten to move the new S650s in our fleet all don't like the viewing position of the new digital cluster. doesn't matter how we position the steering wheel or our seats, or our heights, or whatever else we can adjust, none of us like the viewing position of the screen in front of us. we all feel that the screen just isn't positioned in a good spot at all.
It is so wild how universal it is. I had several people hop in just to make sure I wasn’t alone, and they all agreed! Fascinating that it was an organic convo with y’all too
@@AlanisKing we think the problem comes from both screens being mounted in one unified housing. if the media screen was mounted separately from the instrument cluster screen, some of us think the instrument cluster screen could be positioned in a better manner that could actually work. some of us also just want normal gauges with needles that point to the exact number. it's all nostalgia and personal familiarity, of course.

A high price doesn't mean the quality goes with it. It's the price of a BMW and the build quality of a Ford. A bad Ford. Don't believe me? The battery cover is a representation of the quality of the car.
Hey, Alanis. Just found your channel after watching you on Doug Demuro’s channel. Love what I see so far, but I have a question: do you still want a Kia Carnival? 😂😂
So many people say that! I may have to include it on these. This is my shorter review format where I typically don't do report cards, but I may add them!

As an owner of several Mustangs.... I wish I still had my 1986 Mustang GT .... And I will never ever get rid of my Bought new 2012 Boss 302. The best Mustang of all time IMO. When you take your 6spd Boss 302 out after a hard work day you dnt care about screens, heated seats, nav, etc... you have a/c if needed and thats all you need. Again IMO :)
Wonderful review. I am sure it’s just the matter of getting used to the new look but so far, not a fan of the s650. I am absolutely in love with my fighter jet grey 21 mach1 6spd. Looks phenomenal, sound’s exquisite feels therapeutic and 3 1/2 years in and 15,000 miles later, still puts a smile on my face. Maybe this needs time to evolve. Hated the s550 at first and couldn’t get past how gorgeous the s197 were. I am sure the same will eventually happen with this gen as well.
The Challenger actually came back in 2008. But it's true, the Challenger didn't change its looks in 14 years. Even the 4runner that lasted as long got a major refresh 4 years in.
I have the same issues with my BMW's flat-screen dash. Now, it makes me think that this whole giant, flat-screen digital thing in the auto world is a giant design flaw. Also, the far right corner of the screen is so far away that trying to reach there (Hello, Google Maps Exit button ) is an instant distraction. At least BMW has the rotary dial. Great video, as usual. BTW, I can’t cartwheel. Can I still get bitten by a coyote? 😂
Good for Ford keeping the Mustang around with a V8 and a manual transmission for 2024 while the other Detroit companies decided to kill off their pony cars!
mm I'd have preferred a black wing instead of red. You know going with the two tone finish with the front grill and wing being black. Anyways A GREAT Review Nonetheless. Not a fan of the rear though I feel like they could've made it more idk flatter? I guess so
Let's be real. The gatekeeping comes from people who just think they are better than others and like to argue. Happens everywhere in life. Smile. Nod. And remember that their life can't be that great if that's how they behave.
I am so upset about automakes pushing away V8s, and some V6s. They're putting smaller engines in larger vehicles; Underpowered and wear from turbos. So ridiculous!!! 😡😡
I knew someone who had a 1966 Shelby GT350H. He let me drive it and showed me the documentation to prove authenticity. Hell of a car. I still have the pics. Your reviews are so fun!
Wish you would have shown the power leather seats. If the recaros are all manual then they are a pain in the but and I would never buy the option. I have had them in two gt500s I've had and hated them. I bought my 21 gt500 with the regular upgraded leather bucket seats. Power heated cooled etc. So much better. Most people will never track the car and don't need those Recaros. I had them all power in a ctsV Caddy and loved them. But as manual seats. No thanx. Beautiful car otherwise.
I like mustangs, but I’m not a huge fan of the lastest gen mustang. Can’t fault the performance but there are a few things I really don’t like. I’m more of an old school person, I want regular analog gauges, not the big screens everyone is putting in these day's. Another thing I don’t like, is the electronic break, there wasn’t anything wrong with the old school hand break and it worked well, so why get rid of it. One major thing though, the cost. The prices have gotten to a point where your average person cannot afford a decent speced mustang with an v8. Other than those 3 things, the car is great.
Great review! It’s a great car for sure! I’m on the same Page with you with the tail lights. Less indentation on the NASCAR body looks better. A ‘24 SALEEN Mustang …is the next car you should drive. I would love to see that video.
Morning Mustang person! ...how the h*** is Portia doing?? 🐈⬛ Best part is the post self kidnap ad break transition, took me out ⚰ impromptu public cartwheel close second
Just based on the title, I remember mustangs losing to camaro comparisons in magazines for years. Camaro had he 1LE which trounced the GT so ford came out with the performance pack and it still lost and then there was performance pack 2 and it still lost. Then both had new generations and the 1LE and performance packs came back and the Camaro STILL won. And then there are complaints of the MT82 trans in the mustang versus the tremec in the Camaro. I like the mustang as a GT/cool car but for a performance car the Camaro is still something I want to own and makes it make sense why the mustang was made fun of from the performance point of view.
❤😂😢❤😢😮😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 I love the story of the Mustang. I had a fox body Mustang and I liked it. I want another one but when I had it, I was getting too many tickets so that’s why if I get another one I might do the same thing so but keep up the good stories with the mustangs and I tell people Ford is still making the big block motors is Chevy or Dodge they say no I said OK then take care. Have a good week.
Okay but imma still make fun Of mustang drivers. You know the ones, the kind that does a burnout while leaving coffee and cars, suddenly gets traction, and drives right into the telephone pole
The Mustang, GT in particular gets flack because it poses as the serious muscle/sports car but ultimately it is not. Watch performance based reviews and they all say the same things, numb steering and insufficient body control. The GT in reality is what the name actually infers..a Grand Tourer, but the general populace thinks its the real deal because that’s it’s image for the uninitiated so to those who know better yeah it gets flack because it has a persona it hasn’t earned. By comparison the dead Camaro was always the superior handling true sports car where a 1LE was in equal footing to the real Mustangs like GT350s or Mach1s. Mustangs GTs from factory are not what they project basically and the lack of good chassis control is why they are the laughingstock of TH-cam. But hey to those higher tier Mustangs…all respect 🫡
The problem I had with owning a Mustang is that everyone wants to race you all of the time. They will drive like asshats all around you all the time to try to get you to race them.
The interior of the S650 is a downgrade versus the S550, IMO. The functionality of the screens is great (aside from having the HVAC controls on the screen, which is and always will be a terrible idea), but the integration lacks any sense of style whatsoever. The row of buttons below the center AC vents also isn't as cool as the toggle switches from the S550, and the fake carbon fiber trim looks horrible and doesn't belong in a car that--even in just GT trim--can approach $70,000 for a new 2025 model.

Don't believe me? The battery cover is a representation of the quality of the car.
Hey, Alanis. Just found your channel after watching you on Doug Demuro’s channel. Love what I see so far, but I have a question: do you still want a Kia Carnival? 😂😂
So badly. They don’t have any in the Texas fleet right now!
Also, hi again!
Regarding the sightline, is the steering wheel not adjustable and down...? 😮
At its tallest height, it’s still a bad sightline!
Another great review…. Missed the report card though!!!
So many people say that! I may have to include it on these. This is my shorter review format where I typically don't do report cards, but I may add them!
@@AlanisKing Who am I to tell you the format for your videos but speaking for myself I love the “how
Many Alanis’s fit in the trunk” and Alanis’s report card. Keep up the great work. We love the content!
You are so much fun nice cartwheel
🤠🤠
Who wouldn't want to try her 6 speed manual transmission
I really love her wearing tights!!!😅
As an owner of several Mustangs.... I wish I still had my 1986 Mustang GT .... And I will never ever get rid of my Bought new 2012 Boss 302. The best Mustang of all time IMO. When you take your 6spd Boss 302 out after a hard work day you dnt care about screens, heated seats, nav, etc... you have a/c if needed and thats all you need. Again IMO :)
That’s awesome! I’m glad you love them
Hi Alanis! I always have fun while I am here, and I did learn about Mustangs! 😁
Omg! Thank you Francisco! I'm glad you had fun like I did : )
Nissan Z!!!!!! I've got one... now what do you think Alanis?
I like it! Hoping to get a Nismo here soon
I'm late, but I made it! I like that they went back to the sharp angled headlights from like 2015.
I appreciate you always making it here! Thank you!
Ahhhh thank you so much for watching
Yes, car companies love changing the looks of a car....unless you're a Challenger. Been the same since 2005.
And I love the Challenger
The Challenger actually came back in 2008. But it's true, the Challenger didn't change its looks in 14 years. Even the 4runner that lasted as long got a major refresh 4 years in.
@@damilolaakanni yes, that. Whoopsies!
🫡🫡🫡
The Mustang: more iconic than your favorites.
Yes
0:33 my brain though she was gonna say "This video is brought to you by CARS AND BIDS!!!"
Hahahahahahaha nope 🤠
mm I'd have preferred a black wing instead of red. You know going with the two tone finish with the front grill and wing being black. Anyways A GREAT Review Nonetheless. Not a fan of the rear though I feel like they could've made it more idk flatter? I guess so
You're so right on all points. Black wing would really tie in with the front end!
Let's be real. The gatekeeping comes from people who just think they are better than others and like to argue. Happens everywhere in life. Smile. Nod. And remember that their life can't be that great if that's how they behave.
Totally! I just think it's an important convo to have
@@AlanisKing oh yeah it is. I wasn’t trying to take that away from you. Keep up the good videos
: )
😂😂😂...the coyote 🐺 clip. 💀 😂
I laughed really hard at that one
I am so upset about automakes pushing away V8s, and some V6s. They're putting smaller engines in larger vehicles; Underpowered and wear from turbos. So ridiculous!!! 😡😡
Love a good V8
I knew someone who had a 1966 Shelby GT350H. He let me drive it and showed me the documentation to prove authenticity. Hell of a car. I still have the pics.
Your reviews are so fun!
Awwww thank you! Thanks for your support!
I love hearing about them! You can share too!
Thanks for watching!
True fact: after being born in the hospital, my parents drove me home in their foxbody Mustang. The first vehicle I ever ever rode in was a Mustang. 🥹
That's such a cool fun fact
I like mustangs, but I’m not a huge fan of the lastest gen mustang. Can’t fault the performance but there are a few things I really don’t like. I’m more of an old school person, I want regular analog gauges, not the big screens everyone is putting in these day's. Another thing I don’t like, is the electronic break, there wasn’t anything wrong with the old school hand break and it worked well, so why get rid of it. One major thing though, the cost. The prices have gotten to a point where your average person cannot afford a decent speced mustang with an v8. Other than those 3 things, the car is great.
Totally makes sense! I also love Mustangs
You are the coolest car girl I know
Alanis is cooler than a polar bear’s toenails
Very kind of you
Reviewing this in a Gordon shirt is a choice! Where's the vintage Ford NASCAR gear???
I make a joke about it in the review!
@@AlanisKing I for sure left this comment a minute before I saw you get out of the trunk and promo the merch 😶
I have an S550 but damn did Ford hit the front end of this car with every ugly stick in their inventory.
Hahahaha
Great review! It’s a great car for sure!
I’m on the same Page with you with the tail lights. Less indentation on the NASCAR body looks better.
A ‘24 SALEEN Mustang …is the next car you should drive. I would love to see that video.
I would love that too! Thank you for watching : )
@@AlanisKing certainly, I enjoyed it! Maybe someone will see my comment and hook you up with Mr. Saleen!
Morning Mustang person! ...how the h*** is Portia doing?? 🐈⬛
Best part is the post self kidnap ad break transition, took me out
⚰ impromptu public cartwheel close second
Hahahahaha thank you! Portia is great : )
Just based on the title, I remember mustangs losing to camaro comparisons in magazines for years.
I absolutely LOVE the Mustang
My big issue with the s650 is its WAY overpriced.
So fair
I love my Mustang.
Mustang gang
$60,000.00 ?
What a fully loaded ever opinion possible maybe.
I can buy 750hp mustang gt 3yr/36k miles. For under $60k
(Supercharged)
And you should!
@@AlanisKing
Got a 1xxxrwhp mustang GT now. Can't afford 2 of them .
No but really you can check it out. Lebanon Ford Performance & Beechmont Ford.
I realize 60K is a lot to spend on a car these days but the Mustang GT is worth it! I would rather spend 60K on this Mustang than the Mach-E!
It's SUCH a good car too
❤😂😢❤😢😮😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 I love the story of the Mustang.
It’s such a good car!
Okay but imma still make fun Of mustang drivers. You know the ones, the kind that does a burnout while leaving coffee and cars, suddenly gets traction, and drives right into the telephone pole
They're just trying to get you off your phone for a bit. They want you to go outside and see the world
We can keep making fun of the Mach - E though right? I mean it might not be a bad vehicle but is it a Mustang?
Hahahaha it's not a bad vehicle! I got to check out Matt Farah's before he gave it back. You are free to make fun of it if you want : )
I really do love the GT as a daily driver. It's fun, comfortable, and just cool to be in
@@AlanisKingagreed, that is exactly what the GT is… a nice daily driver that makes sweet noises.
The problem I had with owning a Mustang is that everyone wants to race you all of the time. They will drive like asshats all around you all the time to try to get you to race them.
Same with a Hellcat
What about the ford mustang Mach E
The interior of the S650 is a downgrade versus the S550, IMO. The functionality of the screens is great (aside from having the HVAC controls on the screen, which is and always will be a terrible idea), but the integration lacks any sense of style whatsoever. The row of buttons below the center AC vents also isn't as cool as the toggle switches from the S550, and the fake carbon fiber trim looks horrible and doesn't belong in a car that--even in just GT trim--can approach $70,000 for a new 2025 model.
Fair! I love the S550
they fired the engineer for this mustang, too camaro looking. I like the design, but i think it is little different
Great review!
Thank you so much for watching : )
