I believe the bottom is for backflow prevention. All of them from what I read with that and without have frost freeze

I like the fact that it's reasonably tamper proof as well. I have a remote location with an outdoor spigot and it gets used by others a lot. It's unfortunate that people can't respect the situation enough to make sure that it gets turned off after use. Which makes my well pump unnecessarily run far too often. Unless you have an adapter, they would be out of luck. Thanks for the video.

    Very nice install.

great video and install process, but i think in your case it will freeze anyway. you have an uninsulated area on the inside by the valve. so it is going to be close to outside temps in that area. i’m surprised you haven’t pipe freezing issues

Any idea if this can be installed on a concrete block home with stucco exterior? Not sure I have access to the inside like a framed garage/home.

If you are using the angled (valved) connector while watering your grass and tug on the hose to the right will the connector twist a bit and pop out of the wall?

Hi I like that house hydrant kit where r u buying that n how much is it ?

Of course your old spigot froze, that's not a frost proof valve, it's just a simple ball valve that would be fine in the tropics or indoor use only. I'm curious who installed that on the outside of your house, they had no idea what they were doing. It wouldn't last 1 winter unless you live somewhere that barely ever gets down to freezing.

I like the system. 20 year life ain't bad. Are the fittings proprietary? I would hate to need to replace a fitting several years from now and be out of luck.
Despite that concern, I can see getting one for my garage project.

Nice job, Dan. I can't seem to find the 90 degree adapter on Amazon though. I'm installing one on my shop as well. I need that adapter though.

The hose bib adapter looks to have two o'rings (probably greased), if you leave it on the hose kicking around in the grass or dirt doesn't the grease attract dirt and sand? Seems maybe you should put a hook on the wall next to the hydrant and store the adapter in a ziploc bag hanging from the hook to protect the o'rings?

Is that a crack in your poured foundation at the beginning of your video? I’m asking because I have a poured foundation and have a few cracks too.

    • @DanielWoodell
      @DanielWoodell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yup, concrete dose two things it drys ans it cracks, cracks like they are common in concrete and there is nothing wrong with them as long as the re bar is installed correctly.

Have you considered doing epoxy injection to the cracks? That would be a cool DYI video. And unfortunately there are only two kinds of concrete. Concrete that cracks and concrete that will crack.

6:30 All that Romex and no protective metal cover plate is scary. Looks like they fixed the ball valve too so its in line on and perpendicular off.

Also known as a Water Faucet.

A Faucet is what you have on a sink.
      This would be a Spigot.
