I mostly agree as I deeply miss bordeux's, However, some of the rarer varietals are actually pleasant to drink and remind me of celery juice or roasted peanuts. Also the effects from varietal to varietal can be vastly different so it's a whole world to explore there. ❤ So my husband and I have been drinking 3 tea spoons of Kratom with our orange juice/water on a daily basis. I personally have never gotten addicted to Kratom. I was able to stop for months and forget about it completely without side affects like others say they had. Anyway, I started taking Kratom with orange juice again, (mixed in a little bottle) and use it for energy and minor pain. It helps me drastically and works almost immediately, also leaves me overall happy. 😊 I haven’t tried Kava but am very interested in the tincture ! 💕‼️💯
Kratom dependence can be severe and I advise anyone considering using it to reconsider unless they absolutely need it. You will need to have a plan to taper down back off it if you take it for an extended period

I'm all for kava and love it, but I wish people weren't so ignorant about kratom too. I'm not trying to be rude, but it just isn't the harmful "drug" people make it out to be, if used responsibly and in moderation (you know, like anything else we do with self-control) it's really lovely. I've used it intermittently (not every day) for 8 years and my dose is the same, and I'm not addicted to it. Additionally, I was never on opiates either, I take kratom purely for its anti-inflammatory effects (great for autoimmune issues) and for my mental health. The amount of criticism and scorn I get about it though is unreal.
@queenbee7074 I've tried Kraken Kr@tom (one of the more established brands) and Golden Monk, both have been amazing! I've also purchased from a private vendor who is no longer selling, but you really need to be careful with those people because there's no testing of products involved. I also have gotten some from a good brand, but it was over 8 years ago and I can't remember the name, I'll ask my husband and possibly get back to you on that. Just don't buy stuff from a smoke shop because it's usually garbage. I'm afraid stuff might be laced. Unfortunately, most of the good kr@tom needs to be bought online
its great if you can take it sparingly but it is hard to do so. once every few days, but if you take it daily you will suffer withdrawals . It helped me get off alcohol but every few weeks i buy a bottle and after a three or four day binge have to deal with awful withdrawals, its like a mild flu for a day. a few years back i took it for a year daily and when i stopped i thought i was going to lose it and end up in a ward, a week of no sleep and sweats, i would imagine its a quarter of what a heroin withdrawal feels like. and it also gets rid of grey matter in the brain permanently . be wary
Kratom is terrible. I’m sure if you did it once a week it’s probably fine. But if you’re taking it everyday or every other day for 8 years I challenge you to not take any for 2 weeks and let me know if you feel the withdrawal from it.

It’s literally a walk in the park compared to any kind of hard drug or real opiate, not even comparable really. It keeps me and many other people away from hard drugs and lets us lead a normal life. I’ve talked to thousands of people that take it for many different reasons, I run a kratom Reddit page with 7 thousand members, I’ve seen people from all walks of life get help from it. And it’s all about being responsible with it whether you are addicted to it or not.
It doesn't interact with alcohol?! That makes me happy to hear from him as he knows his stuff but I've heard the opposite everywhere else. Including legitimate and passionate kava company workers. They say as long as your liver is fine kava is fine on it's own and alcohol (in moderation) is fine on it's own but together something is activated or something that causes a potential issue in your liver. Can anyone answer to this? I feel like some people are overly cautious and I'd like to be able to drink kava all day and then have a couple of beers a night to eventually quit altogether.
Hey Cassondra! Thanks for contacting us regarding this part of the post. Like we talked about, alcohol does indeed interact with kava in a negative way. Simply, kava makes the bad parts of alcohol worse, short and long term. We always recommend to be safe to not have alcohol in the same day as kava.

There is a ton of bad kava out there. I would say make sure to buy it online and spend a lot of time researching the sources with the best quality. Other than that, things don't work for everybody. Melatonin isn't a drug. It's something your body naturally produces. So it's not like taking melatonin every day is a magic fix. Melatonin is best used when: 1. You don't produce enough melatonin naturally (uncommon for most people, more common as you age I believe) 2. You have an inconsistent sleep schedule, in which case using melatonin at the same time every night and then actually going to bed at that time can help train your body more and make it easier to sleep. It's also useful for handling jet lag. Melatonin just tells your body it's time to sleep. Its not magic, but it helps. That's about it. Edit: in my subjective experience I get more tired in about 30 minutes
Benefits of melatonin: • It’s a powerful antioxidant • It’s 2x more powerful than vitamin E • It triggers antioxidants like glutathione • It promotes sleep • It supports the immune system • It has anticancer benefits Sub-cellular melatonin is produced from NIR (near infrared). If you don't get enough NIR light, your pituitary does not produce enough for your needs. You need daylight even if cloudy. If you work indoors you can buy a therapeutic lamp to use at night before bed. I would do this, rather than supplements.
I've been using sleep aid gels because my prescribed medicine I use for sleep ran out and I've been using the gels for about 3 weeks waiting for doctors to call to make an appointment
The doctor say kava doesn’t negatively interact with alcohol but everything else I have read states you should never drink alcohol at least 12 hours before or after taking Kava. I understand that medical websites are going to lean way farther on the “ to be safe” side but for those who are comfortable taking kava daily, is there a major concern if I wanted to have a couple of beers the same night I’ve had two drops per the serving size (1.8 ml) of Kava kava extract?
I would really love to know this damn answer lol because same experience! Once in a while someone will be like they're fine together which is awesome while 95% of people say not to including kava experts. I don't know if there's been enough research to know for sure. Unless you have liver problems I'd guess it's fine here and there.
The thing with medical reports is there could’ve been one case where kava and alcohol didn’t go well for the person. It had detrimental effects. So the medical people have to list that as a warning. Even if there have never been any other cases since. I think it may just be that alcohol is broken down in the liver. And so is Kava. So they’re likely insinuating that the liver is having to work hard to metabolize both. Yet most things are broken down by the liver in general. I have had alcohol while on Kava and not had any issues. I’ve done that more than once and never had an issue. But I also don’t really drink that much to begin with and it’s just once in awhile rather than all the time.
I’ve had a kava powdered water tonight for the first time. Don’t feel anything. Hasn’t helped my anxiety one bit. We’ll see how I sleep tonight. I feel it’s just me though, nothing seems to work, cbd oil doesn’t even work for me :(

The above ground parts of the plant are toxic to the liver A high quality noble kava that is only the root matter is generally safe Even good quality root kava can raise some liver enzymes which isn't inherently dangerous but it would be smart to avoid alcohol or any medications that stress the liver while taking it
I've used Kratom heavily for over half a year at times and never experience physical withdrawal symptoms. I've had friends who were addicted to opiates already and used Kratom to try and get off pain pills and they said Kratom was highly addictive. This leads me to believe it is somehow because of there existing opiate addiction. To me Kratom is just like Marijuana. No physical withdrawals at all.
I am 58 and I too would regularly drink about 3 cocktails every night and it started to affect my sleep. I started to use kava to break my habit. But now I am seeing that my REM sleep has increased significantly and I am feeling quite a bit better through the day. I am waking up far more rested. I also monitor my blood pressure per a doctors recommendation. I was put on losartin and that lowered it but not quite enough. So they put me on amlodipine also. My pressure got better but was still a little on the high side. The past 2 weeks I have been using kava and my blood pressure last night was 118/77 and has been in that range every day for a week. I think better sleep is relieving stress and lowering my blood pressure.

Look at medical articles 2014 and later. The ones you're finding are referencing erroneous material.
that is old research that as stated above didn't have control for other meds and most importantly how was processed and the parts of the plants that were consumed. Most if not all of the negative press came from flawed studies in Europe in the 90s that were controlling for bad product. The roots and basal stems are not toxic and in fact have healing properties. I started taking Kava when I transferred colleges and no longer had consistent access to alcohol (allegedly). So no therapeutic opinion here. My experience was that (powdered) Kava was the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth. Absolutely foul. Probably gelcaps would've helped. Aside from that, it was basically the same as alcohol for me. The good parts and the bad. When I turned 21 I decided that rum was way more convenient and palatable. Now in my old age I'm of the opinion that alcohol is for getting drunk, kava is for getting drunk on a diet, and kratom is for all the things people say kava is for except getting drunk.
Alleged. There were only a few cases attributed to direct kava use but once the PR scare happened they started banning it in early 2000's. Its starting to come back but has taken 20 years!
The WHO reviewed Kava again in 2016 and essentially dismissed the hepatoxicity concerns due to a number of factors (e.g. the likely cause of the hepatoxicity in studies in the late 90’s and early 2000’s was due to other medications or alcohol especially with kava that triggered it). Or put differently, and in the WHO’s words, considering Kava has been used for over 2000 years, if there are any significant issues the occurrence of such is low. And they largely found as such in their meta analysis of studies up to 2016.
If you develop a dependency on Kratom that requires rehab, the withdrawal pain (mild discomfort at worst) then your problem isn't pain or physical withdrawal, your problem is purely psychological. Kratom is easy to withdrawal from (if you even get to that point). If you are physically active, you won't really notice. If you are not, its like having a mild flu for a couple days (4 days at most). Hate it when people try and spook others away from Kratom because it is B.S. and it has help thousands of people come off of actual heavy narcotic dependency. This nonsense is just like the did with Cannabis in the 50's - 00's and mushrooms and LSD. All kinds of horrors stories and urban legends that never happened or happen to anybody.
Hey! Kava is sort of like an herbal tea but it's not extracted like tea. For example, you can put it in a blender for a few minutes to extract the kavalactones, then strain the plant material. Then drink. It'll be warm when it comes out but not hot. You can also knead it in a bowl for about 15 minutes with warm water to do the same thing. Kavalactones aren't water soluable so they need to be coaxed out

OMG me too!! I remember my dreams when drinking Kava.

The relaxation and calm I get from Kava is way better than alcohol. Only issue is the pleasure one derives from slowly sipping wine is absent.😢 Also does not last long… But I love it!
I mostly agree as I deeply miss bordeux's, However, some of the rarer varietals are actually pleasant to drink and remind me of celery juice or roasted peanuts. Also the effects from varietal to varietal can be vastly different so it's a whole world to explore there. For instance, one of our Kelai batches we just finished is almost absent of body heft and is SUPER heady. I can't think of a better way to explain it than it's like putting on a fish eye lens.
Heat the wine add some spices thank me later
Do the capsules work the same

Where do you even get it from!!?? Its a genuine question

Hi Tim, Dr Weil says sleep aids are not good - what about melatonin supplements? Thanks, love your work
I saw recently Huberman was saying melatonin is not great. Just google that for more reference
@@wad4547 hm article from his website last year doesn't say it's bad, just gives options incase it doesn't work. Can you highlight the name of the page or article you read?
Melatonin isn't a drug. It's something your body naturally produces. So it's not like taking melatonin every day is a magic fix. Melatonin is best used when:
1. You don't produce enough melatonin naturally (uncommon for most people, more common as you age I believe)
Benefits of melatonin:
• It’s a powerful antioxidant
• It’s 2x more powerful than vitamin E
• It triggers antioxidants like glutathione
• It promotes sleep
• It supports the immune system
• It has anticancer benefits
Sub-cellular melatonin is produced from NIR (near infrared).
Today the pharmacy is out of my medication and I am drinking kava right now in hopes that it helps me. We shall see how this goes

The theory is that both affect the liver so I'd steer clear to be safe. Also definitely avoid any medications that affect the liver.
I’ve had a kava powdered water tonight for the first time. Don’t feel anything. Hasn’t helped my anxiety one bit. We’ll see how I sleep tonight. I feel it’s just me though, nothing seems to work, cbd oil doesn’t even work for me :(

@@wainivanua It doesn't; but guessing the World Health Organization doesn't want some of us to get better. They want to depopulate us, so now they have us thinking kava is "bad." It was taken off the market in some areas.
@@peachydandy2570 The WHO (in conjunction with FAO) released a report on kava in 2016 basically saying that kava was safe. Right now it's the US FDA that is refusing to acknowledge that kava is a safe food.
@@wainivanua In the past it was the WHO I know. But if it's currently the FDA it doesn't surprise me.
I’ve been slamming kratom for years just got a bad abscess on my arm
I would treat kratom like any other opiates and it is very useful when not abused to get high but expect withdrawals just like opioids 💯
I abused fent and lemme tell you getting off kratom extracts gave me withdrawls very similar just for wayyy shorter
I never get anything out of kava. It's depressing
You're not getting a good kind, preparing it right or you may take a while to feel it because it has reverse tolerance. Some people have to drink it often for a few weeks or more to start to feel effects. If you have a kava bar around by chance I'd give that a go as well as they have good quality. I'm just getting started but Stone Kava thus far has been my favorite. I hope it works out for you!!
I said all that without mentioning it should be the tea you brew yourself lol.
Same here man. Tried 3 different types, used over 2 lbs total and barely feel a thing. Sometimes it actually made me feel worse
Google "kava reverse tolerance"
Kratom can mix with Kava, but do not take kratom before bed
What about kava’s alleged hepatoxicity? Valid or no?
That’s like tea? The Poly community knows about this
Kavalactones aren't water soluable so they need to be coaxed out
For Kratom it’s not good for sleep. It’s terrible. It’ll knock you out, but you wake feeling like you got no sleep
After the 5th time trying kava and always getting headaches or sick to my stomach ive decided this stuff isnt for me. No thanks. Ill stick with m.j.
Forget Kratom
🖤
Highly recommend kratom for help with energy and focus. Easy to get off of for most average (ie non-addictive personality types) people who may have issues with fatigue and/or mental focus. (the doctor has a weird pronunciation of it, pretty funny)
Anyone who wants to outright ban kratom is as evil as the gangleader who forces people to buy heroin
Stay far away from kratom
Haha Pākehā talking bout kava
So I guess that Maoris can't talk about alcohol then, eh bru?
Shit, an expert that I know more then he knows. gtfo. Try the stuff before you think you can go on a podcast and talk about it.
He mentioned kratom. I love kratom. It saved my life!
