Some questions and reasons for those regarding the defense plan. Loved the concertina wire in the trees idea but the fact that there seemed to be no overwatch of them turned them into a mild inconveniace for the enemies rather than a trap. Why opt for having your positions out in the open (the HASCO wall courtyard)? Wouldn't it be better to have the enemies cross the open field to then be met with the HASCO walls. Why was the southern forest not used for defensive positions? It would have provided good concealment and again would have forced the enemies to cross an open field before pushing in. The concertina wire could have been laid on the other side of the field for a deadly trap. Also why not use bunkers? They would have been a good counter for the mortars. You can still keep fighting out of them when the shells are landing. Lastly, why weren't there any fortified forward positions? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, rather interested in a discussion.
Really good questions! So the concertina wire in the trees was meant to be paired with defenders covering them with fire. The plan as we imagined it would be Fuzzball to the south covers the bridge -> falls back -> my squad defends that southern forest with the help of the wire. However most of the time we were pushed from the north, and with limited manpower, we couldn't have guys permanently posted there. As for why our positions were out in the open, the rules of the match had the OBJ Red area as the open clearing specifically where the radio had to be placed, with the rock outcropping at the very southern edge. This determined a lot of our positioning. We tried to achieve a similar effect with that last stand position on the radio engaging anybody that breached the HESCO wall, and that did work pretty well - you just didn't see it because I wasn't there. We definitely could have used bunkers, especially to the north. And for the lack of fortified forward positions, again we should have done that. I mentioned in my outro that a lot of it came down to the fact that we didn't give a northern attack proper consideration, and thus didn't prepare for it properly.
@@HaebyungDancereally cool that community events like this are starting to happen, i feel like invasion and (r)aas have been getting a bit stale for me. i still miss when the more niche gamemodes were actually played

Bro, insane quality and storytelling. I appreciate all the captions you added for what everyone was saying, stuff like that doesn't go unnoticed. All I can add for improvement is that when you're in the building phase, if you could show a map with pictures on it of what you're doing it would really help visualize. For example: "I decided to build a hesco wall all along the western side of the red zone"....Show that on the map...."In case the enemy tries to shoot at us from this island and direct fire on our position"....show that happening on the map including the previous part you had on the map. Hope this helps, great video!
Something that struck me as very interesting; particularly in the red section: although this is a simulation of a modern military battle with modern military technology and weaponry, the strategy/ skeleton of this engagement is something you'd see straight out of the middle ages. Because the artillery barrage is not available so early in the match, the attackers are laying siege to this "castle/fortress" the same way you would see in the siege of Tripoli. The attackers start with their missile/skirmishers along with their 'trebuchet' (CAS machine gun, Auto cannon) to loosen up the defenders and their 'walls'. The defenders rally, try to repair the walls, then sally out when they see the attacking cavalry getting into position. Etc, etc. Anyway, you did a great job. I think that for your next event like this, I would be very very interested in seeing you guys ponder/do some research on medieval siege warfare and use some of the sneaky, advanced tactics you learn (or were already familiar with). That would be, just as this video was, freaking gnarly.
I think you're talking about the karmakut mod DnD? Was pretty awesome back in the day and I still consider it the best version of squad... if that's what you're talking about lol
Two things; First this is the first video of yours I've watched and I really enjoyed it, cheers for the upload. I really enjoyed it. Secondly this mode you created looks to be a lot of fun, kind of reminds me of BF;BC2's rush mode crossed with a tower defense. Cool idea. Quick question; I've never played Squad before and I can't put my finger on it, but why does this remind me of BF2 so much?
Never mind about the question I figured it out, it reminded me of PR mod for BF 2. Thanks again for the video. It would be a hard mode to balance, as a rule of thumb you usually need 10 to 1 attackers to defenders if the attacker would be more likely to win. That can be done through equipment or respawn points. It seems as though you got a good balance though. Enjoyable video and I look forward to watching more.
@@HaebyungDance Yeah I was doing some research on squad and that is when the penny dropped lol. I played a lot of PR back in the day and it got me into modding in the first place. The bewilderment about the amount of kills at the end of the round is something many can probably share in and why I tell others in an engagement to "just SHOOT". Not only does it supress enemies but you might also get some lucky shots in. Of course, it depends on the situation since it might also just give your position away to and enemy that might have previously not been aware of you

Beautiful game, it starts really coming together when you play with the same people many times. Wish they would add some kind of friend list in the game but I guess I'll just have to join 7th ;)
I have never seen a superfob work. But if resources are used well, making barriers, funnels, baricades and positions to engage the enemy can be a game changer.
coordinating tactics within a squad in game with randoms is hard; but coordinating attacks and defensive plans with other squads on your team is far easier. Would be cool if you made a tactics video showing inter squad teamwork as I feel like that is really the go to "win every time" move to do that also simplifies the tactics. No need to try to conduct something like a bounding overwatch or support element, assault element within a squad when you can just have one whole squad perform each task (SBF, assault/ABF).
We placed a TOW and two MGs facing south. I had considered an MG looking west but I ultimately decided that it would just get taken out by any vehicles and not be worth it. It might been a good idea to place one by the northwest beach though.
Superfobs are a great Idea ONLY IF you have a good squad that works together in order to be effective, and get things ready in time. Also you need a good team that understands how to use the fortifications and defend the point by using comms. Otherwise it's pointless. I've built at least 250 Superfobs and it works if the whole team works together
i guess you didnt want landmines across the beach because it wouldve been overkill? haha this was very interesting. makes me want to reinstall. i wish more people did this in RAAS, rather than building multiple habs that go down with little to zero fight. ive had some insane yehorivka & goose bay matches setting up one superfob + a secondary one that would force enemy vics to run into open minefields and their infantry into forests/tree lines within emplaced MG/grenadier range. experienced cmds will know they wont be able to attack without using every single asset all at once & leaving their cap point undefended, so they will often opt for a superfob too then the match becomes trench warfare hell with mortar spam, vics trying to outflank each other, infantry taking slow pushes as they bleed each other out of tks + the occasional small squad trying to ambush logi bros + light vics. its just so much better than sitting in objectives and everything outside the flags becomes more lively. Galactic Contention community had this playstyle. its a shame the modders pulled the plug because of the sdk issue.
I mis suoerfobs. The proxy makes it worthless unless you can establish a rather large perimeter. Anything in a bunker or basement gets wrecked by proxy
When i normally set up super fobs. i tell squads to resupply from the super fob to lower the resupply time for other fobs. do they listen? not really. but it always opens up possibilities
Supply FOBs are a thing but the difficult thing about using a Super FOB for that is there are usually a lot of emplaced weapons eating up ammo and a lot of fortifications using up the build
