@@Mike5557d Hey! If you want pure leather cases I think the Andar is still one of the best I’ve tried because of the issue I mentioned (in the video) about other leather cases. Would you be interested in hybrid leather cases? Like TPU sides and leather back - I’d check out Bellroy (have a video about them on my channel).
Just bought the 16 Pro Max and have been using the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T for about a week now. I absolutely love this case for a few reasons; I use MagSafe accessories and the magnets are super strong, it takes some force to get some accessories off. Unlike the Apple clear case, it’s protective near the changing port. Also can’t go wrong with the price, (Amazon Canada) sells for $17 (or $23 CAD)
Beware of scratched frames. I've been a lifetime spigen user, but after my 14pm is all scratched up and 15pm also ... i'm dropping spigen as my go to brand
Thanks for the explanation Jaaay!! I've been wanting to start using a leather one for a while, but I was a bit nervous about how thin or durable it would be!!!
Personally I think the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Mag deserves a spot over the Spigen Ultrahybrid T. The Spigen isn't bad per say but the Supcase does everything the prior does all while offering better protection AND a stand with the same minimal look.
Appreciate the comment. I didn’t personally consider the Supcase Beetle for this because I found the button doesn’t function as well as the other cases I mentioned. Love the build of it though!
@@jaydanielstech what you mentioned here is exactly what a previous guide mentions when he tested the unicorn beetle sub super max ultra wide beam bubble anti-gravity… Lol i'm joking about the nicknames just a little bit. I enjoy the testers out and find it helps me to find commonalities before I touch anything. I don't like a button that's not responsive enough so the beetle is out.
Great vid and I couldn't agree more; the Spigen T is the best case thus. I've owned it for over four weeks now and works really well, especially with the camera control button built-in. Overall, it's hard to beat and I also purchased the Apple Silicon case, but as you mentioned, such a lint magnet.
Do you think getting a case with no fiber lining on the inside is ok? I really hate getting scratches on the back and sides of my phone from the case that’s supposed to protect it. What case would you recommend that completely prevents that?
i think part of it is also the little bits of dust etc. that make their way into the case through a case's crevices, so consider periodically take the case off for a cleaning?
@@sevecc I have faith that brands are hustling behind the scenes to update their cases with a button (similar to the action button cutout situation last year). Hopefully Apple doesn’t introduce something else that has people scrambling to adapt again with the 17 series
Without realizing it I have been going through different screen protectors during all of this. I’ll keep that in mind. Have you tried screen protectors from Spigen or Caseology? Those have been good for me and are affordable. In the past I’ve seen lots of good about Flolab, but they are pricey (though have lifetime warranty).
Good morning Jay, another issue I have is my car induction charger is flat on my Tesla so the case I have now with the large lens lift prevents it from charging while it’s on the car induction charger. I’m not sure what I can do about this but a test on what case charges best on a conventional “flat” induction charger would be good. Not all induction chargers are MagSafe and the lens lift getting bigger and bigger and the case protector for the lens is impacting my car induction charging and can make some induction chargers not work.
I see a lot of reviewers saying the FloLabs 16 pro max case is one of the best cases plus it’s super customizable ! Wondering if you have tried this case ? Also seeing other screen protection reviews saying their FloLabs Screen protector is the best . I had bought the Zagg XTR4 and failed installing it , gonna return it . Ordered the FloLabs case and screen protector and the updated Mous 6 limitless case in leather with the camera control button pre ordered . Gonna use that as the fancy case and the FloLabs as my everyday case .
I'll have to check it out! I've been mainly focused on cases that include camera control buttons. I've used their screen protectors in the past, and they are fantastic! Expensive, but they are easily top 3 for screen protectors. Solid case combo you've got yourself!
I’ve got a video on my channel that covers some super thin ones. I couldn’t get my hands on enough varieties of super thin to include it as a category. I currently have the cases I made a video about, and a thin one from Benks with a Pitaka in the mail on route to me. 😊
Lets be real, less than 5% of the people who get the 16 series are even gonna remember the button, so get a case that maximizes protection and favours your personal aesthetic.
That’ll be a future video for sure! My connection and experience with minimal cases is just too small for the time being. Happy to chat about what I do have. Are you thinking minimal like a Benks/Pitaka or like a Caudabe Sheath?

Hello Jay. I have ordered two cases. I am not a case whore. I had the Phone Rebel Flax (aramid fiber) on my iPhone 13. Loved that case. I did not have any issues with dropping or banging my phone around. However, I just upgraded to my first pro-iPhone. The 16 Pro. It came with a bigger price tag than my iPhone 13 (regular). I went to Walmart and purchased a Speck Gemshell (sparkly black). It is ok. I don't use the camera control button often (yet). I almost prefer not having a camera control button as I would probably accidentally hit it. Anyway, I have a Smartish Gripmunk and a Phone Rebel Air2 on the way. I am worried about anything exposed (the Flex case was my first thought and I was worried the sides of my phone would get scratched...even though my iPhone 13 had no issues). I am more worried about drops (from the pocket, desk, or shoulder height). In your opinion, would you go with the Spigen or the Onyx over the Rebel Air2 and Gripmunk? I know I sound old, but this is the most I have spent on anything tech-related (including computers) but I don't want to have an Otterbox brick attached to my cool new phone. Thank you for the video and the information. These videos take a bit of time to make and I thank you for that. Cheers
If you are worried about drops I would go with the Phone Rebel Air2 of the cases you mentioned. If you check out the channel of the creator of Phone Rebel (Everythingapplepro) he has done drop tests between Phone Rebel cases and other well known cases, and Phone Rebel performs very well!
@ I received the Air2 and the Gripmunk. Love both. I think both are going to do well for small everyday drops. The Air2 feels “higher quality” if you will. But the MagSafe leave a lot to be desired. It holds on to the Cheever on my nightstand. But I would not trust it with a wallet or battery pack. The Gripmunk is fantastic. MagSafe is solid. As good as the $24 Sparly Gemshell Speck case I got from Walmart. I am ordering the Aramid Gen six phone rebel (as soon as it is available). But the Smartish may just be my case for the most expensive Tech I have purchased (year to date).
