I use to crochet when my children were just babies, now they have babies of their own. I cannot tell you enough how much I appreciate your videos. I had a really bad accident in 2004 that wiped out 80% of all of my memories, I don't even have memories of having my kids, so when I wanted to get back into crocheting I did not think I could do it. But your videos have made the learning process so much easier, for that I sincerely thank you.
Sending you a huge hug and blessings that you will now form many more wonderful memories to hang on to. I'm just beginning this crochet journey at 51, so we shall see how far I can go:)
I learned to (regular) crochet watching your videos, and here I am again years later to learn a new style. I'm so grateful for your videos- your teaching style works really well for me ❤
I am 64. I have been working the Tunisian Knit Simple since about 1971 or so. ALWAYS, when I made my starting chain and then proceeded across that foundation, I would insert my hook into the back loop only. I actually never thought of it as the back loop until today. When I watched your video. You see, I have been confused for all these decades as to whether or not I am supposed to insert hook in last stitch and make a chain stitch, or proceed across without doing that. Hence, watching your video. The unexpected bonus to that is this: Throughout the ensuing decades, as I said earlier, I only went through the blo of the foundation chain. Watching YOU proceed across in the video, I saw that you went through TWO loops. EUREKA! NOW I finally know why the bottom of my piece always curls up! Thank you for your tutorial. You don't know what that means to me. Blessings on your day.
I started learning crochet 4 years ago when I was 11 with your tutorials - they are easy to follow and very detailed - and until now, I continue doing crochet for small gifts and such. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial! I am a knitter, and for some reason I always struggled with crochet. Knitting comes easier to me. So, that’s why I recently discovered Tunisian crochet, as it seems to be more Knitter friendly. Thanks to your tutorial I now feel really confident doing this technique. Perhaps I won’t be so scared of trying crochet again. Thanks so much for your videos!
Greetings Bella Coco, I just want to let you know that I have scoured the mass number of youtube videos and online videos regarding various patterns on crochet. Each time I settled on learning the new technique, I realized the videos were all done by you. So thank you for the C2C and the waffle stitch tutorials, I am sure that I will enjoy this one as well. I saw my first Tunisian hook at the store and it was my favorite sized hook I enjoy working with, and there was no one else's video I wanted to walk me through my first adventure (corny I know) than Bella Coco. So thank you for being a great teacher, I enjoy the extra angles, and your tone. Keep up the terrific work, because I think your the best
Thank you Ms. Sarah for explaining the Tunisian crochet stitch. It was very interesting to learn again. As always KEEP CALM AND KEEP CROCHETING. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
The first I've ever heard of Tunisian Crochet was just today, believe it or not! It looks quite easy to learn, going off this part one. I guess I'll see the further along I get. :)
Your videos are so good and clear. Not fast like so many. Can't understand what they're doing. Awesome! I can actually do it. It's a good feeling. Thank you Bella
I've just learned to crochet by watching your video on Granny squares for beginners. Am doing very well with it thanks in great part to you. This stitch looks quite simple and can't wait to try it. Keep up with the great videos.
I've been crocheting for 1 month! 😁 Self taught on TH-cam. I've just discovered this stitch and I'm so excited! Finally I get to "knit" without knitting needles which I cannot seem to learn. Thanks for this!
I started crocheting when i was 7 and i could never find the perfect channel until i came across your channel it changed my crocheting level so much i am 8 now and i hope others feel the same ❤
Hi Bella Coco! I first learned to crochet 53 years ago, from my Nana, when I was 5yo. Taught myself to knit about 25 years ago when I was 33 (that was one of the crafts Nana didn't know). I recently started making purses to give friends as gifts and didn't like how my straps were coming out so I thought, maybe Tunisian crochet will be the answer (another craft Nana didn't know)? Automatically came to your TH-cam channel to see what tutorials you had. Forgot to mention, I studied to be a college professor - just wanted to tell you that I greatly appreciate & admire your teaching style. I've learned or refreshed my memory of many stitches over the past few years & you're one of my favorites. Thanks for being such a great guide. My Tunisian straps are so much better than what I was doing in regular crochet, and nowhere near as hard on my hands as using my lucet fork. Plus, only making a project with a few stitches gives me something to do with Nana's old Boye hooks - since I started using Furls, they've been ignored.
Hi Bella Thank you for teaching me how to do a lot of crochet I've learnt a lot done solid squares tunisian stitches and now corner to corner. You've given me a lot of confidence you're a good teacher and thank you ever so much again bella XX
Excellent video! Perfect speed! Too many instructional videos ASSUME you know more then you do, and speed past IMPORTANT beginnings! THANK YOU for being a terrific teacher!
I learned and then after not doing it for so long forgot how to Tunisian crochet. I wanted to brush up on the basics and found videos that kept making the right side right but other side ribbed. I was right about give up when I came up on this video. Front post only for basic stitch! YES! THANK YOU! Subscribed. :)
I am so glad I found your channel. I recently got into crochet just 2 months ago and I am hooked! ( No pun intended) I love learning all these new stitches and creating all these amazing works of art. Thank you!!
Wow! Thank you so much. I just got started with crocheting and I can't follow a book, so I am very much so enjoying your videos. Please continue doing them for us. TFS!!!
Thank you so much. I know this is 8 years old but I am just starting my Tunisian hobby and this video was perfect as always. You taught me to crochet in 2013 and now for a new challenge.
Ty!!!! I’ve never been able to keep the rows straights you’re instructions for beginners are concise and easy to follow. Think I’m going to switch Tunisian crocheting for a change. Excited about learning new patterns in the weeks to come.💗💗💗👍🙏
Never done tunisian crochet before; bought myself the hooks I needed and they arrived this morning; can't waut to get started! Thank you for this video!
Your tutorials are amazing! I've watched a lot of tutorial videos and always got confused, but not with yours. I can follow every step and I always succeed at the end.
Thanks to you and this tutorial, I can now do something more than a single chain crochet. My knitting mother-in-law giggled into light when she saw the work I did. Thank you 😊
What a fantastic tutorial. You explain every step so thoroughly and simply that learning it is super easy. So glad I found your TH-cam channel. Excited to learn such an easy stitch that I’ll be able to make an even pattern without the frustration of inadvertently dropping stitches throughout my project. 😁👍🏼
Brilliant. I was very worried that this was going to be complicated. But you made it very easy and I have the video to refer back to thank you so much I'm very excited now I'm going to get started.
Your videos are the best tutorials I have found on TH-cam. A streamer on twitch to me about you. Now I crochet and knit on twitch and whenever anyone asks for suggestions of where to get help, I ALWAYS say, "I highly recommend Bella Coco on TH-cam." Thank you for doing such a beautiful job and helping so many people!!
Thank you so much for the video tutorial! I just wanted to add, for absolute newbs like I am at this moment, it helps to think of the way you insert the hook for your foundation row, after you finish the beginning chain (@ approx. 2:00 minutes) there are 3 pts to beg chain, 2 interloop to form the traditional "chain", and then there is a 3rd pt on the reverse, kind of like a spine. it helped me to concentrate on inserting the hook thru each loop of the "spine " instead of the "two" on the front. hope that helps at least one person. happy hooking!
I got the same magazine as you! And I also have the same hook! I was so confused on what it said in the booklet so I so pleased that you made a video on it! Thank you😊
I love your tutorials, they are so easy to follow. I was wondering if you would be willing to do a bicolored granny square tutorial where the square is one color on one half, and another color on the other side. It looks like two triangles to colors. Thanks for the consideration!

Beautiful stitch and great tutorial! I saw the most beautiful stitch called the 'Tunisian Honeycomb Stitch'. I believe that the honeycomb stitch also uses the Tunisian purl and knit stitch, so a tutorial would be need for those as well but am willing to wait! I found this video was really clear and helpful and I think the honeycomb stitch would look beautiful in some hand dyed yarn I have my eye on. Thanks and keep up the incredible work Sarah-Jayne!!
Being a knitter, I wanted to learn Tunisisa crocheting. Your videos are easy to follow and you explain them in understandable language. So glad I found you! Then you
I luv watching ur videos. U r easy 2 listen 2, & u explain things in a way that makes learning these different stitches a lot easier. W/o sounding ungrateful, I'd like 2 ask a question. I have 2 books on Tunisian Crochet, but reading them & trying 2 work the stitch I still can't seem 2 do it correctly. In both books the very last row of this stitch usually ends w/ a slip stitch in every single lp. Is there a reason why you didn't do this as well?
Sherri Tucker good for you😃l admire people who keep trying to tackle something I have come across people who would just say I can't do it I think they just don't want to do it good luck and God bless you Jay
havent gotten a tuni hook yet,but i got *ahem* hooked on this. ive just been making smaller cables and then just making stuff like that. hope to find one in an actual store on thursday, and if not then i shall order online. :3
Thank you so much! Your videos are amazing. Could you use this stitch to make a large blanket? Where would you put all the stitches? Thanks. Elizabeth from Australia
Thank you, I'm happy to hear you like them! 😊 Yes you can make a large blanket using this stitch - you would need to buy a special Tunisian crochet hook that has a long cable on the end to hold all of the stitches.
Hi Bella!!!! Thank you so much it great video made me helpfulness... someday I will try when I’m finished with granny blanket for my nieces her baby due nov 19!!!!
Hi Bella, beautiful and easy learn for me..I have a question, does the work Always curl? And will the finished item curl like that as well..thank you sweetie
It does always have a tendency to curl due to the way the stitches are worked - you can stop this to an extent with a finished piece by adding a border or tassels/pompoms to the corners 😊 Some Tunisian stitches also curl more than others. The honeycomb stitch is lovely and lays flat.
@@bellacococrochet Thank you so much for the info 😊 Im so intrigued by Tunisian crochet, it truly is beautiful even if it curls lol I watched your honeycomb Tunisian video and just loved it so That's wonderful that it works up so beautifully ❤ thank you again
Ty for a very clear and understandable video. Just one question, I have been doing SC graphgans how would this be on one with 250 stitches as a foundation and what length if needle would you use.
You're welcome 😊 If you are planning to have a lot of stitches I would suggest getting a long cable such as 80cm, that way you can be sure you won't run out of room.
Thank you 😊 If you’re planning to make a baby blanket you’ll need a special Tunisian crochet hook that has a long cable at the end for your stitches to sit on (unless you are planning on making lots of smaller squares and joining them together).
Hi! I love your videos and have taught myself to crochet through you. My trouble is that regular aluminum crochet hooks are too short for my hands! Can I use a Tunisian Crochet Hook instead?
Hi Sarah-Jayne, Thank you for a very clear instrutional video. I am new to Tunisian crochet - does the first stitch count (ie the slip knot). Thank you.
I am working on a baby/toddler blanket and it is curling. Is this normal or did i do something wrong? I've only completed about 4 or 5 rows so far. Thanks
Hi Sarah Jane I am a seasoned knitter and have fallen in love with Tunisian crochet. Is there much difference between Aran and chunky please. Also I’ve heard some call it basic Tunisian. Is this talking about the foundation.Thank you, I’m looking forward to learning a lot more. Wendy xxx
Hi Wendy 😊 aran and chunky yarn are next to each other on the scale; so aran is thicker than DK, and chunky is thicker than aran. My Tunisian crochet tutorials cover the very basics, and once you’ve mastered these you’ll be ready to try different Tunisian crochet stitches 😊
Hello! I’m new to trying this new method. Do I just need a really extra long hook to make a long baby blanket or is there an attachment that goes on the hook to make a longer baby blanket?
For a baby blanket you can buy a special Tunisian crochet hook that has a cable on the end; as you work along the row the stitches will slide and rest on the cable 😊
Which space right you going in on the last space on the forward passes? A single bar or the twist and go through the two bars that make a “v” ? I’ve seen both on other tutorials.
Bella l have worked the Tuscan pattern for a place mats but but can you make hats or sweaters out of that Stitch how do you decrease and that's what I would wondering hope to see a video on that if it's possible thank you for taking the time I do enjoy your video and by the way I don't see a link at the bottom I'm on my phone but I can never get a link below how do I do that if you know I sure would like an answer.
Thanks Janet 🙂 People make all kinds of things including hats and sweaters using Tunisian crochet, so that's definitely one for me to consider for future tutorials. If you are watching on your phone you should see a small arrow pointing downwards, next to the title of the tutorial - if you press this it will expand to show all the links etc 🙂

Do you have a video showing how to make the feathers?
Hi Sarah-Jayne, Thank you for a very clear instrutional video. I am new to Tunisian crochet - does the first stitch count (ie the slip knot). Thank you.
You’re welcome 😊 You will always have a loop on your hook but this one does not count as a stitch.
I am working on a baby/toddler blanket and it is curling. Is this normal or did i do something wrong? I've only completed about 4 or 5 rows so far. Thanks
these tutorials helped me a lot thanks
You are very welcome :)
I am learning so much from you, thank you xx
You are very welcome :)
Have you one. Tunisian honeycomb stitch tutorial?
How can I crochet the tunisian entrelac with long striping yarn instead of cutting and adding another color?
Thank you while I see your video I melt like a chocolate I am a girl who loves your channel
Help!!! Ive done about 8 rows and my work is curling! Why? Do i have the wrong size hook for my yarn? It's like im crocheting a tube 🤷🤷
, looks like I'm going to be looking for this crochet needle. I can't wait to try this beautiful stitch !
It really is beautiful isn't it :)
Which space right you going in on the last space on the forward passes? A single bar or the twist and go through the two bars that make a “v” ? I’ve seen both on other tutorials.
Hi Holly, I'm twisting and going through two bars as I feel it makes the piece feel more secure this way, but you can do whatever feels best for you 🙂
I have been looking for an aluminium crochet hook that’s not too long, do you know the shortest length that is available please? 🙏🏻💕
Does this pattern call for an uneven number of stitches? I love this and am anxious to try it ( once I get my granny squares all together).
+Becky Gwinn No, you can use any amount of stitches x
Very nice stitch. I want to try it. Thank you so much
this is so cool. it does look like the knit stitch. I always liked the knit stitch but knitting is no fun for me!
Is it possible to do a baby blanket in this stitch?
Do you have a left handed tutorial for Tunisian crochet? I’ve had a quick look through your tutorials but haven’t found one. Thanks!
Sorry I don't have a left handed one at the moment :)
Working what is called a "chain less foundation row" also works well as a start and is easier for some older fingers to handle.
