  • Change fluid with CVT special fluid. Have car running to check the fluid level. Special drain plug. NS3 fluid. Replace what you took out.

    Just took our 2016 Vesa note to the dealer, 60,000 miles on it and the cvt fluid is very black and burnt, need new control arms, fuel system flush, front breaks, alignment and they even had the nerve to say it needed new tires. With everything it would be $2,500, the car is only 5 years old and worth about $5,000. I will be doing all the work myself, that's why I'm watching this video. Thanks man!

    • @RobertBeedle

      My 15 versa note with 80k has solid control arms, fuel system is fine, front break still have half meat on them. I’d be surprised if this isn’t a load of shit. The Trans needs flushed every 30k though, it is a horrible transmission.

    • @SineMacula
      @SineMacula 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@RobertBeedle I did everything they said to some extent. I left the control arms alone couldn't find anything wrong with them. Did the Cvt flush, new brakes and rotors, did the fuel system flush twice with the seafoam additive, new plugs, alignment was fine and I got new tires, all for under $500. The car runs smoother and the cvt seems to be functioning better, less noise and no more hesitation.

    That small tube is for the fluid level. Fill until it leaks

  • @kebo57
    @kebo57 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Other videos I've watched have shown to just add (5) qts of the ATF fluid and then run the engine a bit, while shifting into all the gears a few times. Then shut the motor off and pull the drain plug again. The excess ATF fluid will drain out until it reaches the top of the stand pipe (that little short tube you removed with the allen wrench), and it will stop draining at that point. That's how you KNOW the transmission has the correct amount of fluid in it, not by checking the fill level.

    The 2nd plug that came out is the fill tube, leave the 1st plug out and fill it up until it comes out the fill tube plug, put your 1st plug back in. It is so you don't over fill it

      On this tranny, it has a special hollow tube that's up in the drain plug. So as you refill, when full & temp reached- that's when its full. I didn't have a scan tool at the moment. How that helps. Dip stick is the best.

    I'm getting a loud humming in the rear, when I'm accelerating, I'm hoping it's just the wheel bearings. Would bad fluid be a cause of this symptom?

    • @jrfmechanical3058
      @jrfmechanical3058  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well its hard to hear this humming sound coming from the rear. If you hear this run off the track, you don't want to get hit. Lol. Well it could be the brakes, could be the wheel bearings, or maybe the fuel pump. Maybe spray WD-40 on suspension parts/bolts/bushing and see if its gone. If no, then move to the brakes. If no, then check the wheel bearings. But do this steps one at a time so that you know you check it.

      That's exactly what it is. The factory service manual procedure involves pumping the fluid in from the drain plug. There's no need for a dipstick, though you could use one instead if you wanted. If you don't want to pump the fluid in from below, you could also fill it through the dipstick tube, just make sure the standpipe is installed and fill until it starts draining.
