- Emberward Part 2 - my first ever game was way too easy. Thankfully, my second ever game showed that heroic difficulty can provide an actual fun challenge. I'll be playing heroic mode only going forward!

Ngl after that first video I am extremely glad to hear this game does actually get harder
Yeah, I played it myself after the first video (It was on my list for a while anyway) and heroic is actually hard. I had to level up a bit to get anywhere.
Yeah, although talents make it easier on the other hand. Not by a long shot, but I kinda dislike them.
But that’s definitely is not the hardest difficulty. Builder + 2nd Map + 2nd Flame + Heroic is really freaking hard.
not to mention, seems like tyler isnt touching the metaprogression(talents) for an extra challenge too
Slightly harder, but still easy. There are ways to make it harder by yourself though. The dev says there's gonna be a harder difficulty on release. This is early access, still a lot of things to work on, but it'S looking good.
@@Lavoye it’s an amazing game with great potential, but yeah, you can feel that it’s on a very early access stage.
Just sitting here and watching the giant red exclamation mark on the talents button being completely ignored by Tyler. Poor talents button, you are a valuable UI element and lead to important game mechanics too.
Losing my mind over that
Underestimated the jump in difficulty and also didn’t make a “really good maze”
@@eugorov13bone desert will be far more difficult. At least if he doesn’t abuse black ice shard again lmao.
@@jackalscry8173 or discover earth quake towers in the desert. So much open space to make them overlap.
Or discover embers+demon flame+mercchant
Ikr, he's good at puzzles and noticing things, but he's played the game twice now without using it
Ah, a little pro tip, you can click the little sword button above the tower selection mid-level to illustrate how much damage each tower did
A few things to make note of:
1. Remember you can pick up block before a wave starts by pressing and holding on them so you are not committed to your first choice.
2.the game definitely expects some meta progression for heroic mode which ik ur ignoring on purpose but something to think about.
3. You can place towers on flat map structures like the bricks.
I think he knows #3 37:50
as someone who has been addicted to this game for the past few days a have a small tip about that first map, there is a whole area below your fire so you can actually curve the path all the way around instead of giving them straight shot to your fire
No only that, but he could’ve placed his maze so that the side entrance would have to go out and meet up with the back force before heading towards his fire
>kills broodmother
>'im afraid of his insides'
>'his'
>tyler, what do you think a mother is?
Their species could reproduce in a way such that the males care for the eggs, similar to how wolf spiders carry their offspring
@@argon7624 yeah but a male that cares for eggs is a father not a mother

"I need more area damage"
"this hammer tower is dissappointing"
well not that it matters the hammer tower does suck until you get proper support
*throws hammer away*
where did my area damage go?
Well it cannot target over walls where needed
To be fair, the hammer was disappointing.
I mean, get like 3-4 hammers on a bend and they do work.
tyler in the first stage: omg i need area damage i cant win if i dont have area damage
also tyler: refuses to build hammer towers because he doesnt like them
they feel trash
I was thinking this the whole time. Hammer towers are incredibly strong. Especially if you build like 2 next to each other (which he could have) and then put dps by them to kill the stunned groups.
32:50 That has got to be the most unhinged thing he has said. Love it🤣
indeed
reproductive difficulties
6:30 Your area damage tower was the hammer one. It was doing ok, but isn't great against the fast wolves, which get out of their area too fast.
And I think placing your hammer in a way that it hits 3 path tiles would make it quite a bit more effective. Kinda hard to do sometimes though.
Not only that but placing them in a cluster can both nuke and stun enemies.
I'm not sure why Tyler doesn't explore the other crosspaths or think about his upgrades. Giving an ice tower +1 dmg when it does 3 already is worse than giving it 50% more attack speed. It's about 24dmg/sec(4*6/sec) vs 27dmg/sec (3*9/sec). Also if I'm not mistaken isn't it better to just build more and more ice towers over upgrading? Like on the first level he spends $40 to give an ice tower +1 dmg but he could just buy an ice tower that does 1dmg for $25. The only time it's worth upgrading is when you have boost tiles.
Pretty sure its not necessarily only 1 damage on top of 3, as the +1 gets rounded up +2 with buffs, so it become 30dps vs 27dps. Not to say it shouldn't be considered as higher firerate lends itself to better group killing, but not an obvious answer
I think it increases the base damage, meaning it actually increases the damage by more than 1 after the buffs are applied.
when he puts the tower on the ice boost it gets +150% damage, rounded up to 200% to give the tower 3 damage. With the damage upgrade it becomes 2 + 150% which is 5 damage
New aliensrock TD game, an unexpected video, but a welcome one
This game needs some kind of tile that you can’t place anything on and buffs enemies that walk over it. This way you would need to adjust your maze in ways you normally wouldn’t
Yes! Make Emberward a full series! Your knowledge in tower defense games spanning all the way back to Bloons, this game seems perfect for you! And I've been loving watching Emberward content lately. I might have to pick this game up!
hope to see more episodes of this game!! i love emberward for how unique each run is, have been playing it a lot recently lol
tyler round one: "OH GOD"
snowball tower: "OH HELLO THERE"
I think this is the fastest i’ve busted out laughing at a video because nothing could’ve prepared me for Hydrogen Tyler
how much better do you guys think tyler would be at a brand new puzzle game, compared to a usual gamer? i personally find it crazy how fast he grasps puzzle mechanics maybe not specifically in this game but you guys know what i mean
I think part of it is he's just so well versed in the genre that he has a LOT of knowledge and skills to pull from
So long as there isnt any visual aspect to the puzzle then he's great at them, yes
Hmm, I don't know what a "usual" gamer is, but I think Tyler is pretty good compared to a lot of other similar channels I watch. I think the only thing I can generally fault him for is like lack of observation sometimes. But other channels I'm constantly saying "that's not how that works!" into the monitor. It's hard to make a general statement though because I play a lot of new games so I'm pretty versed at picking up things quickly too, so my viewpoint is probably skewed.
Idk, maybe you should watch a bunch of his stuff to figure it out? A lot of his best series have begun with "I know literally nothing about this game and it came out like yesterday or something"
Yeah it hink hes generally better at strategy and puzzle games, but thats just him being smart i think and ecperiance
The only thing slowing him doen is he doenst think enough about what would be better
Man I kept hoping you'd check out the upgrades for the lightning towers, they've got ice upgrades!
Snowball tower was the goat in this run
Snowball TD
The hammer is an absolute monster if you can stun or slow something going through its area
Also, try to place it where the path takes corners so they have three spaces in hammer range
The difference between normal and heroic is nuts
The difference in the hard thing is nuts
The difference between heroic and sacred heroic is nuts
The difference between women and men is nuts
Sacred Heroic is much easier imo. Corrupted Tiles are not that challenging and you get so many relics and emberstones. By the boss in Bone Desert I had 10+ relics and killed it before he even reached the final carriage.@@wingdingfontbro

hey tyler, upgrading the tower seems more costly in terms of damage than buying a new one. Its good for towers on special tiles, but seems to be worse for normal towers
Not Me Getting the Alien's rock In Peglin (grinding for my own challenge), and remembering I haven't stopped to check you out. Good stuff!
The plus 1 dmg increase dmg from 4 to 5 which increase dps by 20%, while the other option increase fire rate by 50% which increase dps by 50%.

Your editing is amazing. 1 hour shaving down any and all chaff. Thank you for your service and glad to find a new person to subscribe to
OH and also big tip for using the altar rooms! When you have two of the same block, remove the one that doesn't have a buff on it as you will draw that buff tile more often.
man, what an awesome little game.
Fell in love with it immediately.
Thnx for the video.
the big dice tower is my favorite in the game, especially when you can get like 2-4 greater speed buffs together for it and then if ya get lucky get like 30-40 attack speed. get a treasure chest and then the fireball on every attack and it is just hilarious how strong it becomes for those 15 seconds
Can't wait until Tyler realises you can hold click on blocks you placed in between rounds to pick them back up if you dont like the placement
When you have two sources of enemies, try directing the closer one to loop back on itself to join in with the further one
32:50 this game is indeed hard
"I wanna disrupt the insides" is a wild sentence 24:40
Have you seen his jokes from peglin?
By the way you can set defaul priorities for each tower which gets saved between runs, saves you the trouble of targeting certain towers like the plant to go to highest health
Tyler have you played dungeon warfare? Its a fun tower defense with more than just damage towers. There's physics traps/towers that can push enemies into pits or water or crush them against walls and whatnot.
One of the best tower defense games I've played in a while. This one looks great too, just figured you'd want to hear about it. It felt like a bit of a puzzle some levels, on top of that, I used the skill tree that focused on using ONE of each TYPE of tower for a huge boost. Which ended out feeling very good having the perfect spot for each trap/tower to beat each level.
There's 2 Dungeon Warfares out and a 3rd in the making.
glad to see more emberward gameplay
5:10. The hammer tower can be rotated. It is also one of the best towers in the game.
51:55 The boss didn't die because it wasn't being targeted by anything, all of your towers were targeting the highest hp target and the grunt enemies had more hp than the boss lol.
sick game now that its hard please keep playing its really epic and sick like fr
SUCH a cool take on td games, I absolutely loved these first two videos, keep them coming
It took me a bit to notice that it was your fabulous editing that you were making those “twinkle stars” to draw the watchers attention to what you are talking about and explaining at any given moment. That’s some good dopamine! =]
Oh just wait until you use sacred flame on heroic mode. That is another beast entirely. And as a tip hammers aren't entirely useless. Making a cluster of 3-4 of em on a bend can work wonders, and overcharging makes them even more busted because of the stun.
It'd be cool to see the pathfinding have more mechanics too, similar to veggie quest. Nothing crazy, but maybe buttons and one way paths that can rotate to make for more doubling back
32:51 bro is 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂
20:28 Irelephant lol
I really enjoyed this one. Please deliver more of it.
Tip when using the damage boost and ice rune in the frost tower the range and attack speed are better since the dmage upgrade increaes damage by 50% when on a damage boost and on the ice rune it does 33% increase whilst the other upgrade is cheaper goves range and 50% attack spped which is better at higher base starting damage
I believe the range and fire rate upgrade does more extra damage than the damage boost on icicle towers on frost squares. 3 base damage + 50% extra fire rate = 4.5 damage per time unit, while 3 base + 1 damage is just 4 damage per time unit
I really like these longer videos, great to watch before bed
More of this game! Yay!
Roguelikes are so much fun, both to play and to watch! I wonder, has Tyler ever played shattered pixel dungeon?
32:52 is soo funny lmao
Hammer and axe towers can be rotated manually with the same button as blocks, but after being placed they are locked in that position.
love seeing u play this game, i hope it becomes a series
I don't know if Tyler here beat the game without talents on heroic or not, I'm thinking he did though and it's genuinely quite an impressive feat.
I managed to pull it off a couple times myself with the full release of the game, it's definitely extremely hard but equally very fun, as it makes it truly reward to eventually win with it being a true roguelike.
I will say though that beating the game in the free demo before it's release was infinitely harder and required insane rng (2x2 dice tower and 1x1 dice tower rng). So much rng it wasn't very fun I'll admit, but I did eventually win after putting in like 100+ tries on it xD Glad the game got improved with the chest drops + tower upgrades + other great towers that can do work beyond just the 2x2 dice / sniper tower.
Really enjoying watching you play this game. Here's to hoping for more videoes on it!
Love this series! Would love to see a ton of these videos like you did with Peglin tbh
Wow this game is really unique, props to whoever made this
really cool spin on the classic tower defense mechanic
I think that black ice crystal makes frost pulse do massive damage because Chill gets replaced by damage and it lasts for 30 seconds
Not sure if there's a comment already, you can also select and change your fire during character selection which enhances gameplay and creates different strategies.

I wanted long aliensrock videos. I GOT IT.
thank you Tyler
i love emberward vids pls keep making them
39:09 He unfortunately, likely does not. On a side note, justice for the editor, give him a raise
I'd definitely be down to see another episode in the desert region. I do wish you at least tried the electric towers. They sounded interesting and I would have liked to see how they performed, even if you ultimately ended up selling them. Maybe in the next episode?
This game gets easier the more you understand how to build mazes. If anyone has unlocked the Demon flame and the Ember ability, you can do a towerless challenge - it is difficult but super satisfying
"This is.. very curious." I'll translate.
"This is.. looking worse."
Seeing a maze building tower defense like this, I wonder if Aliensrock would've enjoyed the Sanctum games.
I'd love to see more of this game
Tyler playing tower defences is something i didn’t see coming. It would be awesome if he played Arknights, but I doubt it since its gacha and probably not to his tastes.
This is a MUCH better showcase of the game. A bit of difficulty goes a long way to making this game appealing.
isnt the range upgrade path for ice towers just directly better even without any tile boost? between +2 range and +50% fire rate and +1 damage its at least guaranteed 4 more tiles of range for the former in a simplified scenario meaning at minimum 1 x 9 x 14/speed compared to 2 x 6 x 10/speed, which is an obviously better trade that only gets better with mazing. only time itd be worse is if you placed it next to your flame or enemy spawns in that 2 tile extended radius
38:10 you could've used one of the tiny blocks to create a 2x2 area with a damage boost for a snowball
Tyler you should try Cataclismo (it has a demo) it's an RTS but not in a traditional sense. It's single player and in some sense it's a puzzle. Hard to explain the game honestly but it looks potentially up your alley.
Tyler decided violence, and so did the game.
upgrading fire rate by 50% for 25 instead of buying another tower for 15 💀💀💀
The cuteness in this game just adds to the fun innit?
For ice towers on any damage boost, upgrading attack speed is much better than damage
The channel has come full circle back to tower defense games!
YES THIS IS WHAT I WANTED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
You should have looked at the Missile Tower and its upgrades.
This game needs white balloons, so you have to mix up the synergies.
You can change your flame like you can with characters and they have unique characteristics
This looks great. I will wait for 1.0, though, because I am tired of playing half-finished games
I just realized the hardest difficulty is the same as Fieldrunners, which this game seems somewhat similar to.
Man, this game looks real nice. Finally a new tower defense with replayability.
I love all videos you put out. This series seems like a new favorite for me. Xd
This was fun, hope to see more of this game👍

Looks like the game needs some enemy variety. Classics like reduced damage from AoE attacks, elemental resistance and immunity to effects (stun, slow etc.), maybe some aura that make your towers attack slower/deal less damage instead of just stunning.
Loving this game, wish there was more variety next time tho
Yeah, I guess those magic turrets are weird. They crit for 6 when hitting full health enemies with buffed fire rate, or always hit for 6 and crit for 9 when damage buffed.
