Always check your PUDDLES! We saw many less capable ( than us) cars come into this campground… the key is never underestimating the puddle depth.

Storm Trooper is okay but what a lesson learned (which we already knew) NEVER GET LAZY checking your puddles. Many cars with lower clearance came into camp after us just fine!
Soiler alert…. In a few videos we have a HUGE mechanical maintenance video and we decided to just replace that transmission pan!
Yep, a dent that doesn't leak will cause problems if it's deep enough to affect the volume of tank.

I went up a 20-mile windy mountain road to a ghost town only to discover RVs and trailers at the top and a main tarred road leading to the same ghost town. Thanks Google.

My brother works at a Dodge/Jeep dealer.. he says he gets these vans in the shop all the time because folks take them on trails and high center them into rocks and such just like this video. Careful out there folks!

"Zéquinhas" Are To Check Puddles For Treir Depth and/or Rocks, Thick Branches, Among Many Other Obstacles in Advance of a Crossing.
Well, As You Know Well, Do Not Avoid Being a "Zéquinha" 😁 !

You hit yours on the left, I smacked mine on the right ! Keep an eye on it though, mine started leaking about a month later ? Gasket replacement was simple 🙂 also good time to change filter while in there , paying for organic trans fluid kinda hurt lol ☹️
The roads up there are so brutal. Glad you didn’t damage the transmission pan. When we stayed at Spencer Bay North on the other side of the lake we had amazing sunsets every night!

Or consider other options like an annual calendar of your favorites or even sets of blank notecards. I once fell in love with a watercolor artist's work on a trip. I couldn't afford an original from her, but I did buy a set of blank cards that were so gorgeous! @@oneadVANtureatatime

We just left Maine. Portland area. Video is on my page if anyone is interested. We want to go further up into Maine but that’s for a later trip. When we left we went to a “Boondockers welcome” spot and it was up a steep, winding dirt road😂 at night in the rain. I feel your pain with slow driving on those type of roads. Nice campground at Moosehead 👍🏼 the weather sure is nice this time of year.

+The Salty Medic insult to injury…. We have both been on much worse roads and we have both driven much worse…. We just got lazy. And when we finally got to the campground only to find many vehicles way less capable than us…. Palm to forehead! Lol I fear 4wd would only get us in trouble😂😂😂

+Camp Out West US YES! We hated to leave! We stay 10 days and then had to head to New Hampshire for a mechanic appointment ( routine maintenance) and a new transmission pan 😂
Van edge works in Livermore makes an. $800 skid plate for the Promaster which covers our second alternator and has saved us from rocks and gravel too many times to count while allowing oil changes. I’m surprised you get away with your crazy off roading without it!

I got the 3" lift kit and suspension upgrade (Off Hwy Van) for my promaster- MUCH more confident on bad roads now.
+Rashnak66 nice! We didn’t have the funds to do that! Someday maybe….You can still get yourself into trouble if you don’t pay attention! Or get lazy like we did!
My family camped on that lake in the 70's, the fishing was great.
We had a John boat, and we would paddle it out on the lake just to listen to the loons.
It's nice to see Dave with the edibles again. That's always interesting.
How are the mosquitoes compared to Santee 😁
+J. G. Sounds like a great time! The loons were taunting me (carrie) they would sound off and as soon as I went outside they would be silent. This happened for two weeks! I don’t know if anything can beat the mosquitoes at Santee…. Maybe Alaska 😂

+Jerry Jackman because we turned off the main road that we met them on. They also said it was marked with a pink flag…. Clearly there was no pink flag. But more importantly… you always check your own puddles…. We both know this! We have both driven much worse roads… we just got lazy. By-the-way…. Dave was not driving!

If the chanterelles are “young” their cap is moe rounded, and as they get older they develop their typical form! What a pity you didn’t take them.
