    Felix said "This whole deal went down months ago. I didn’t know all the details of it that I know now, but nothing has actually changed.” So the Palou deal happened *before* Felix signed his new contract. And Felix knew of it. If he wanted to stay in Indy Car, as he says, would he have signed a contract most probably sending him to Formula E? I think it's the other way around. He was offered a contract when McLaren realized Palou was not going to happen next year.

    My guess as to why NBC didn't try anything experimental is because of the international viewership, for example, peacock doesn't exist in Canada, so the race was on "Sportsnet" and we still had standard Canadian ads during the race, which would explain why maybe they they couldn't do an uncensored broadcast or something.

    I personally got rid of cable because it was around $100 a month and I seriously just watch racing. The US is too uptight for an uncensored broadcast but it does work well for Supercars in Australia. I think indy car is ahead of the curve streaming all their practice, qualifying, and races. For less than $100 a year I get to watch what I would have watched for over $1,200 on cable. Imsa and indycar get it, Nascar doesn't.

      I had to 8 years ago moving into a new apartment. I was disappointed at first, but a few months later I realized I didn't even miss it. $90 a month that stayed in my pocket, and then NBC Live extra came out. I just used a friend's Comcast account to login, and now it's just a matter of picking from the streaming buffet to see the racing I want to watch, with no contract. But change is hard for some people.

      I would maybe disagree. Sure Felix, is a better qualifier, overtaker amd overall is more aggressive. However, Ericsson is more hard-working, stable and consistent (thereby his championship lead). I think Ericsson is more “complete” whilst Rosenqvist has more natural talent and speed. Respect your opinion though😄

    • @patrickanderson9023
      @patrickanderson9023 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @William Samuelsson Well, i would Rosenqvist higher than Ericsson. Rosenqvist has the most raw speed of the two, is a better overtaker and is overall the most talented driver of the two Scandinavians. But Rosenqvist is also an aggressive driver, and someone who tends to be quite accident prone. Ericson on the other hand, is a more calculated, smarter racer than Rosenqvist. But in terms of talent & pure speed, i would have taken Rosenqvist over Ericsson.
      But Ericsson has been very consistent during the last 12 months or so, and it seems like the new the package which came with Aeroscreen has worked in his favour. But let’s face it, the only reason as to why Ericsson leads the championship is due to the double points system in the 500. If he hadn’t won the 500, then he would have been in 7-8 place in the championship ATM.

    Peacock doesn't need to do anything experimental. I can't figure out at all why it is somehow a benefit to hear the drivers swear when it is otherwise a fantastic family show, so I'm firmly against that idea. Even the hate cauldron was cringy and stupid. If they want to experiment, do it by improving the on-screen stats, add cameras to every car, and never, NEVER have a commercial break that isn't splitscreen.

    Felix Rosenqvist needs to stay in IndyCar. Arrow McLaren SP should keep him especially with how he has run lately. As for Peacock the only reason I have it is for IndyCar/IMSA races and for some NASCAR content. I wasn't impressed with the broadcast on Peacock. You both have a fair point. Diffey can be overdramatic at times. Lee was OK but I think they could have done better. Peacock isn't a fantastic streaming service but it's solid. I was hoping NBC would get the TV rights for F1 so they could be the motorsports hub and literally have everything.
      I don't think ESPN cares about F1 at all. All they care about is viewership numbers and money. I feel like NBC on the production side (maybe not the business side) would have really cared about F1. We could have maybe had a newly branded speed channel on Peacock.

    The TV coverage is a truly, in the words of racing but in the negative, MEGA problem for IndyCar as, with the meteoric rise in popularity of F1 in the US, I think there are a lot of people who's interest in racing will be piqued such that they'll sample IndyCar. And NBC's coverage is ABYSMAL. The endless ad breaks, which are just not appropriate for racing, especially a series as frenetic as Indy, because you never know when THE moment of a race is going to occur and you want to see it live. Not only do they have ad breaks as frequently as a baseball game with inning breaks, they also have live read bumpers on each side of each break, even if something exciting is happening AS THEY READ THE BUMPERS with stupid crowd, venue shots, etc. It's very discombobulating and it totally breaks the flow and experience of watching auto racing. As for putting it behind the Cock Premium paywall, well I don't have that particular service but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for a streaming service and then sit through endless ad breaks during the race as if it were on 'free' commercial television. I'm sure the terrible structure of the coverage has turned off some of the new samplers of the product, which means they are BLOWING an incredibly important opportunity for growth THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAS PAID FOR (F1 and Netflix.) I know it's a very different financial situation for NBC than it is for Sky (and their odious Merc Factory PR Team presenters) and the companies Sky licenses it's broadcast to (primarily espn) and they need to make their money back but there just HAS to be another way. You simply cannot broadcast a car race the way you do every other American sport (as an advertisement show, with some breaks for sports action) it just ruins the experience. IMHO IndyCar, via this coverage, is blowing a once in a generation growth opportunity. The product is great...the races are wild madcap scraps that generally are far more entertaining than F1 races, the essential parity and push to pass make for great excitement, and the drivers are by and large incredibly good...it of course doesn't have the glamour and massive stakes that make F1 so compelling, but there's only one F1. They'd grab a decent percentage of the new-ish US F1 fans if their races were actually watchable.

    Why go to Formula E? The only upside is that it's in Europe mainly and gives one a vanishingly slim outside chance of getting back to F1.
    Indycar is miles better!

    I think Dixon is as boring as they get, but the dude rarely makes a mistake and never takes unnecessary risks (Will Power). Dixon reminds me of a Bruce McLaren as a driver. Not many drivers have the engineering creativity of a McLaren.

    The race was broadcast live of Sky F1 in the UK, they wouldn't be able to have uncensored coverage and sell it on to Sky.

    People need to chill about the $5 Peacock thing. In July there’s 5 races you could watch on the cock plus all the practice and qualifying commercial free. Pretty good deal if you compare it to F1 TV that’s $10 bucks a month.

    Felix wants to stay in Indycar? Palou decided to do Chip dirty?...
    I think Chip needs to add to the CAULDERON OF HATE and do an "eye for an eye" and sneakily scoop up Felix for #10! Come on Chip DO THE DAMNED THING!
