    It's like the calm before the storm. Auckland City can be so picturesque, but can bring out the ugly too.

    Imagine one day when Auckland reaches 3M or even 5M like Sydney. Interesting times ahead in this fast growing metropolis

      I remember reading somewhere
      (It was a real estate article) that Auckland's and overall Nzs population is predicted to decline in the coming years as people migrate over to Australia for better opportunities. Net migration will be lower.

    • @marcozolo3536
      @marcozolo3536 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AllTimeHighAotearoa Well Auckland is still projected to surpass 2M by the end of this decade, so don't know if the decline will be felt more significantly in other parts of NZ.
      However Australian PM's have been drumming up the Big Australia policy for decades now. Populate or perish, even Adelaide has seen a surge in numbers recently as has Tasmania, Adelaide is pushing for more highrise and the international student market, set to also reach 2 million.
      NZ has probably not bought into the populate or perish mantra quite as much, but it has the same land area as the UK with just as much population carry capacity. It is more a lack of political will than anything else at this point in time.

    Man I've racked up heaps of fines on this damn road Auckland transport have gotten rich off my back all due to this damn stupid road... Lesson learnt don't drive on this road. Avoid at all costs cz it's cost me alot... So unfair how they've done this banning private vehicles driving this particular stretch of road..

    I left Auckland after 30 years in the CBD, July 2021. I dont miss Auckland one bit. Good luck getting a decent job or buying a decent house. Thousands of homeless, prostitutes & meth addicts. It was a fun place in the late 90's & early 2000's. That's ancient history now. There are so many annoying things about the place. The maori language drivel on the bus, how you go shopping & there is everything except what you want, its dirty with drunks pissing everywhere at night. Violent - how I never got stabbed or robbed in 30 years is a miracle. Also there are stupid construction projects all over the CBD with orange fences blocking everything - its a pain in the butt.

      Thanks for your comment. I just live in Auckland CBD so I know exactly what you are talking about. Yes, there are unfortunately a lot of bad, sad and unpleasant things here. Nevertheless, I try to look primarily at the positive sides of New Zealand - and there are really many of them (especially when it comes to nature). Greetings and all the best!
      BTW Where are you living now?

      I'm trying to think, the last time I was in Auckland -- not sure if it was before Covid or not. But the streets were teeming with people, especially around Quay St and Customs St. Maybe 2020 or 2021. ish.
