Drilling Defective Mercedes Trunk Lock

- I demonstrate how to get the trunk of your Mercedes open if you've lost the key or the latch is defective. This should work on any Mercedes that uses the button style trunk lock. I demonstrate on my 1989 300 CE.

He!! Yeah my man... I have a 03' 300E ..3.2L I6... and the trunk has been stuck closed for a Ridiculous 6-7 Years! The push button does the ExACT same Nothing... Think I will try drilling it out sometime this week after I find a new lock/ latch.. Thanks for the info!

I’ve ended up buying a few cars over the years that didn’t have keys, of course you can pay a locksmith to make a key, but it’s always worked out cheaper for me to drill the locks and put in a new lock set from a parts car.

So, my lock turns, the central lock for the latch is audibly turning in the trunk, but no matter what i do the button wont catch the opener, and just depresses like its locked, i can lock the entire car from the trunk, but not unlock it from the trunk, any ideas? And could you take some pictures of internals and what not on the lock? So we can see how it works, ie, how and what the tumbler turns to make the trunk openable? And how that assembly interacts with the central lock?
Would this work on a 78 450SL? I locked my keys in my trunk, it might be a sidewinder lock though
I think you could probably get it this way I think it's the same style lock I have a '76 450 SLC and it's just got the same sort of button. Really I think it would be worth just getting a locksmith to break in for you if your lock is still working good.

I also accidentally closed myself out (door slammed down as I was getting the keys out of the trunk, wish me luck again with the screwdriver part, takes a while)
Would this work on a 99 c280 it has the same type of push lock
Yes it should, just make sure you take a break a few times and let it cool because it gets very hot it is such a thick piece to drill through.
Would this work on W210 also? i have issues with the key
If it has the same button style lock that you have to press in it will work, if not I can’t say for sure, this is typically the method I use when I don’t have a key regardless of what car.
Didn't you use the old W110 part?
Yes that’s exactly what I did, it wasn’t a direct fit but I was able to make it fit.
Would this work on a w123?
It should, I believe the latches work exactly the same.
