Hi Chris. I can see I'm going to have to go back and do a Berkhamsted vlog proper - it's a great little town but we didn't really see it in this vlog, as the high street is just a bit to the west of the canal.
Hi Caroline. It's just one of those things that wherever you go, there's a good chance the railway will be along side the canal. They both like to choose the easiest path through the land. It was weird how one or two trains were much quieter than others.
Ooh... familiar journey this one.... lack of water, dog crap and a barmy fisherman baiting line from our mooring pins comes to mind along this stretch!! Hoping u r keeping well. X
Dog doo, is not nice, especially when you walk it though the house and your missus turns into Sherlock Holmes and spots the remnants on your shoe. A mistemeanerlike that can mean a month of grief. I assume that chap was introducing himself in a confusing manner. Fancy bridges, and an ok little cruise thanks Johny. I read the other comments , Leigh asked about lock1161 and asks for an explanation, which sounds interesting. A foreign chap called narrowboatwill said something??. Great to spend a bit of time with you, Take care.
Hi Phillip - even less nice if you end up with it on your ropes/hands/clothes etc. It's a common enough occurrence, turning up in all places along the cut but I find it particularly inexcusable when it is on landing stages, the one place where you definitely have to get off and work the boat. 1161 was a date that I mischievously read upside down (1911 really), probably something to do with when they would have built/rebuilt the lock as of course the canal dates back further than that, though not to the twelfth century!
Hi Leigh, that was just my little joke, I was reading it upside down, so it really says 1911. Probably something to do with when it was last rebuilt, as of course the canal is much older (but not from the twelfth century) The actual number of the lock is 55, Rising Sun.
Hi Will, Berkhamsted is such a cracking town, but the canal, although quite pretty, is rather close to the railway for the most part and doesn't have as much prime mooring as it deserves. I'd like to see them set some up on the other side where the park area is, would be sunnier for one thing. But isn't that just typical boating? Glorious but often frustrating. No, I'm not missing boating yet but it is very early days - though I was out by a canal the other day and it did set me a thinking.
Hey Spence, I really like Berkhamsted but the canal just skirts along the right hand side of the town and high street so we didn't really get to see it in this video. It's a cracking little place, might have to go back and do a separate vlog on it! I'm hoping to make it to 100 episodes, a few ideas up my sleeve.
Lovely cruise Johnny. It was nice seeing one of your cruise and hearing your voice 😊 hoping you are well
Hi Penney. Getting towards the end of them now. I'm okay, thanks.
such a wonderful gentle way you have Johny - hope you're keeping well maestro
Thanks Lloyd. I'm ok, quite busy with things - don't know where the time is going.
Seems the nicest part of Berkhamstead was the bridge lol, still great video JL, stay safe and well 🚢🚢🚢

Great cruise. Good seeing a vlog from u again
Hey Trevor. One or two more still to go, then we'll have to see.

Hi Lynette. I hope this didn't come across as a negative for Berkhamsted, cracking town actually. Just how it was on the day.
@@ProjectNarrowboat berkhamsted is lovely... like anywhere dog crap is always an issue as is low water in pounds... x

Hi, Johnny!!! Question for yoday: you mentioned lock 1161 as a very old lock. Can you explain the chronology of the looks, please? Leigh

Very noisy area Mr London. Canal looks good. Do you miss boating yet?

is this recent, looks like autumn, no leaves on the trees
Hi, it's not Autumn, a few weeks ago before I sold the boat!
Shame your experience of Berko wasn’t great. My daughter’s home town.
Will your last canal episode be Episode 100? 🤔

Did he call you David Bailey??? How rude???! Thanks for the video.
I was wondering the same thing?
Indeed. I was wielding my camera at the time so wasn't at all offended!
Oh no, that's RUDE!! People should learn better manners. A canal lock should be a safe place for TH-camrs to perform unhurried tripod adjustments! 😀
