I would take another sample of the water and send it to an independent company to see if there is newt piss in the water. Also, how do they know if it isn't just a normal newt piss I reckon they are taking the piss and trying to get you to pay more money in there bullsh*t fund...
@doghouseriley4732 I'm not sure about that myself, the amount of water compared to a few newts taking a piss is ridiculous... it's like me pouring in a millilitre of beer in a lake and them telling me what beer it is ,I can't see it I think they see him on youtube see how successfull he is doing driving expensive cars and knowing he's desperate to have a lake of his own they want to screw him over and get as much money as possible
I'm a developer where we have to provide a 10% net gain on biodiversity and the way it's set up doesn't work on site so you just have to pay money, which never really results in a 10% net gain. The system is broken and that's why things take forever or just become unviable like the lake
Hi Benedict, I did some fishery work for a golf course that was filling in some lakes and before I removed and relocated the fish thay had to remove GC Newts. They got a company to fence the lakes with plastic sheeting fencing and put newt traps around the lake when they migrate out of the lake to hiberate...basically buckets in the ground (with a stick to the outside, incase mammals fell in so they could get out) when no more newts were trapped over a specific time period they could fill the lakes in. The GC Newts were relocated to another site. Might be worth contacting Natural England for a site vist/consultation to see if this is possible for you. Might help. All the best
years back worked on a job for a big american bank near Chester,. Newt fence went up, newt traps in the ground, only problem was Mr Heron found out and breakfast was easy pickings from the buckets each morning.
Day ticket lakes are all of what's wrong in modern carp fishing anyways, your initial outlay may cost a lot but you'll make a lot of money from it. My dad plays badminton with a guy who has 7 lakes and he says it's like having a money printing machine. Personally if i had a lake like this i'd stock it with a handful of carp and just let it be for a few years and then let me and my mates fish it.
We do a lot of fencing work, and some of that is newt fencing. You'd be surprised how much of a hold up newts are, and have been for at least the last 20 years.
None of us and I mean NONE were politicly interested but we are all now in a place where we are forced to fight for all that we have known in our glorious country. The recent meeting between Kier and Blackrock should cement just how in danger this country is right now.
An area close to me had documented great crested newts. They built a puddle for them 10ftX10ft and then covered acres with houses. So why you would have to worry about them
It is true that the carp would be bad news dor the great crested newts, so its not that surprising given their conservation status. E(nvironmental) DNA, which picks up tiny traces of target species DNA is pretty new technology, so that is bad luck for you!
As much as i love lakes and fishing them, if i owned this lake i would fill it in and sell it for development. Pretty sure you’d get planning for housing no problem
Probably not there was a plot of land next to my little village they wanted to build 35 houses but there is a pond about 20m round and they found great crested newts and not only rejected the planning but made it a SSSI 👍 so no ugly houses spoiling our village
The annoying thing is that the test isn't specific to great crested newts, it's just general newts. I could have told them there were newts in there without all the pomp and procedure. It's a patch of still water, there are going to be newts. Last time i emptied my 6ft by 8ft pond I had 2 buckets overflowing with common newts
I know someone who used to put newts on land to stop houses being built.on occasionally he newts in a pond which need to be drained so they could build house the newts put a stop to it.the guy lost thousands of pounds
I have zero knowledge of planning applications but I know the mere mention of "newt" can be a major problem and at that point I'd need to look much closer at the viability of such a planning application and any additional costs that may be incurred if it was still possible
It's not really a wonder. If you build the longest railway since the Victorian era, there are bound to be problems. What was amazing was that the Government at the time seemed "surprised", which basically means they were thick. Well we know that. The question you should ask yourself is why they wasted so much taxpayers money on a railway that no-one really wanted. Lots of people at the time said it would never be finished and that was the reason that the project was started in London and in Manchester. An make sure that all the "specially selected" contractors paid the Conservative party a lot of money in donations. The Government wasted £92billion and was a total farce but your takeaway is............................... a bat cover.
No average Joe is going to jail. Its to stop developers just trashing everything, like they do trees. If you want to stop a development, just import the newts.
walk around any lake at night with a big bright lamp and you will soon see if newts are in there , it saves thousands of pounds , , i cannot believe you never done a survey like this your self after the last pond you done ,you went through all this before .you must be a little bit unknowledgeable, im being nice with that word
Sorry to hear that this has not worked out at the moment. I hope you're able to sort it out in the future. Maybe you can do something else with it, while you're waiting? Not sure what that could be. But I'm sure you'll think of something.
Sounds like it's becoming the "Diddly Squat" Fishery thanks to your council and their endless Red Tape. You might get there someday. Good luck with it if you do. 🐟
Yep, the idiot Clarkson who only bought a farm to get around inheritance tax. How's that going? And here, buying a lake and assuming it would make a great fishery with shit loads of snags and newts. Like an episode of dumber and dumber.
surely buying a big run down country estate with a couple of lakes on it would be the way to go rather than subletting famland , they ll probably want to use it for irrigating fields and then your left with a half empty cesspit of a lake every year
Personally i would give it a year or two then revisit the situation, get the water tested again then etc…..hopefully no carp find there way into the lake in the meantime as they would certainly remove the newt problem 🙄🤣
does the £85K include them collecting all the newts and relocating them to the "Safe Place" or do they just put signs up directing them to there nice new location?
You should have put some carp in first to clear the site, or what happens if someone else put some carp in or can they detect fingerprints on a carp to prove who put it in or paid the inspector £15k to provide water from elsewhere where… tough break you try and do things right and get penalised
no way bro thats never nice to hear bloody councils will do anything for a pound! was looking forward to many days and nights fishing there please revisit when its better suited for you bro. keep up the good work
This is typical of people that really have no idea what they are doing and latch onto something that will cause as much pain to you as they can! They are called Councils! Too much power and no idea!
Get a thousand C1’s in there stealth incase you ever get back to the project. Won’t be newt pee in there by then plus you’ll have cheap stock. You’re welcome.
So moral of the story is do what you like and take the 6 months inside on the chin. That way no one at the council gets rich for doing a day's work and when you come out the lake will be ready to fish 😂
I used to catch Great Crested Newts as a lad. They’re awesome creatures that are being killed off by land development and loss of habitat so deserve this level of protection. Did you not consider the costs of this when you took on the project. Sounds like you should sack your financial advisor. 😂
Real fisheries aint profitable really they are just a long term money maker most people buy an stock carp with the intent on selling them in future or somerhing like that , also smaller match lakes is where the money is at
What a ridiculous load of faff all over newts and £15,500 to find out you have newts would have been easier doing it you other way by digging another lake no newts in there.
Mate if you ever want free laybour and I mean free I've got a fue tickets for stuff like upto 10 tone digger and dumper tractor ticket and experience in all kinds of building work .. ever need a hand let me know.
And to think 50 years ago I used to catch great crested newt’s and race them against each other as a child from a local pond. Didn’t harm them, put them back to catch and race another day. Worlds gone mad.
Pretty rare these days. Unlike carp unfortunately. Country’s over run with them and people want to stock them everywhere, without a thought for other species.
I've got a 5 ac lake in the USA and I literally drained it down and applied poison to kill all the fish so I could restock it 🤣 Not being able to do even a tiny bit of that like your situation in England is WILD. Completely out of control regulations imo
Hold on a minute should they not be applauding you for creating a home for these newts? Great crested newts are not endangered, their in every puddle their is! Must be 100's of newts in your water to detect urine! I smell a rat here and its money. Take it to court challenge them to catch one from your lake supervised!

Do you play fishing clash? If so what clan you in Benedict?
Accidently slip a few catfish in, then get the newt piss survey done a year later. Will send my consultant fee in the post 😂
I would take another sample of the water and send it to an independent company to see if there is newt piss in the water. Also, how do they know if it isn't just a normal newt piss I reckon they are taking the piss and trying to get you to pay more money in there bullsh*t fund...
100%
Fill it full of Perch first.
To answer this in a very boring but logical way..... they check the DNA.

These people are all care and protection, right up to the point of ££££££££££ then all of a sudden it’s ok to crack, pay the man and it all goes away.
Newts only spend 6 weeks of the year in summer in the pond. They live on land in burrows the rest of the year.
Nothing is "Wrong" with modern carp fishing. If you don't like day ticket waters then don't fish them...?
You're not going to make a lot of money from 10 pegs.
We do a lot of fencing work, and some of that is newt fencing. You'd be surprised how much of a hold up newts are, and have been for at least the last 20 years.

..............It's a shame, but I think what you are expressing has gone over most peoples heads.
An area close to me had documented great crested newts. They built a puddle for them 10ftX10ft and then covered acres with houses. So why you would have to worry about them

It'd have the same issues - it'd just be more financially viable, rather than the problem suddenly going away.
They check the DNA, seriously so many people here talk crap.
I know someone who used to put newts on land to stop houses being built.on occasionally he newts in a pond which need to be drained so they could build house the newts put a stop to it.the guy lost thousands of pounds
Probably this bell end that makes these videos
Lets hope a bird with carp eggs dont land in that lake cas they could grow and eat the newts
I have zero knowledge of planning applications but I know the mere mention of "newt" can be a major problem and at that point I'd need to look much closer at the viability of such a planning application and any additional costs that may be incurred if it was still possible
Well yeah they're a protected species- so of course you're going to go through lots of hoops before potentially destroying their habitat.
Shame there aren't any GC newts in our 4-star hotels.
Can you literally not see or do anything without relating it to immigration you complete weirdo. Find something else to latch your personality onto.
Hello Again, And people wonder why it cost £100 million to build a 'Bat Cover' for HS2 !!!!!!!!
Best of Luck.

Get more punishment for harming newts then you do children. What does that say about our country
It may be a bit more in depth that I feel lol .
No average Joe is going to jail. Its to stop developers just trashing everything, like they do trees. If you want to stop a development, just import the newts.
Its to stop developers filling everything in. If you want to stop a development just add newts.
Ah the myth of the super rare great crested newt. FML we had a garden full of the things, abut as rare as an asylum seeker taking over a U.K. hotel
walk around any lake at night with a big bright lamp and you will soon see if newts are in there , it saves thousands of pounds , , i cannot believe you never done a survey like this your self after the last pond you done ,you went through all this before .you must be a little bit unknowledgeable, im being nice with that word
The spinney thing is called a Theodolite.
Imagine if there was a couple hundred carp just appearing in there to eat up them newts problems disappear
Sorry to hear that this has not worked out at the moment. I hope you're able to sort it out in the future. Maybe you can do something else with it, while you're waiting? Not sure what that could be. But I'm sure you'll think of something.
Lets hope the Labour government are this vigilant when buying up all the small family farms to build migrant housing on green belts🤔
The thing that gets me if it wasn't people like you who could look after and care for these lakes alot would just be overgrown and derelict.
Surley if you wanted to turn it into a fishery, you would have made sure it could be done before buying it?
Got my wording wrong. Leased it for a small amount really for 1yr
Great video mate, very informative keep it up bud 👍
Sounds like it's becoming the "Diddly Squat" Fishery thanks to your council and their endless Red Tape. You might get there someday. Good luck with it if you do. 🐟

Just so many problems that I can't believe it ever got to the stage it did. Newt and snags would be enough to make any sensible person run a mile.
Personally i would give it a year or two then revisit the situation, get the water tested again then etc…..hopefully no carp find there way into the lake in the meantime as they would certainly remove the newt problem 🙄🤣
I see what you mean, at the moment defo seems like a money pit, but I can see you completing it in the future. Keep your head up, you got this 💪
How about stick to one project and make it successful ?
Can you open a rainbow trout lake for fly fishing.
If they won't affect the newts.
The whole of England is falling apart and yet they focus on stupid rules like planning permission for your own land 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
does the £85K include them collecting all the newts and relocating them to the "Safe Place" or do they just put signs up directing them to there nice new location?

no way bro thats never nice to hear bloody councils will do anything for a pound! was looking forward to many days and nights fishing there please revisit when its better suited for you bro. keep up the good work
It's a wonder they don't advise you to START with the Newt Wee testing thingy. Before spending all that other dough. 😅
Just open it up as a wild fishery sneek some perch and pike in there and a couple of cat fish newts gone job done
Did you hear the prison part? 😂
@benedictfowler hear no evil see no evil
This is typical of people that really have no idea what they are doing and latch onto something that will cause as much pain to you as they can! They are called Councils! Too much power and no idea!
I seen 6 newts frolicking whilst you were making this video
This channel went for interesting project to full on TH-camr pretty quickly.
I had a pet newt when I was a kid. I called him Tiny. He was my newt 😊
Simple problem really. You just weren't ready to hand out the Mediterranean holidays to the local planning department.
Get a thousand C1’s in there stealth incase you ever get back to the project. Won’t be newt pee in there by then plus you’ll have cheap stock. You’re welcome.
It would be bad luck if so fish got into this lake and nibbled up the newts? how can you make sure that never happens?? Nature can be cruel
Thats a shame. Really wanted to fish it
You need to get on the phone to Jaguar and offer your marketing services, I think theirs might need some help. 😊
That newt piss can be runoff water
Ad just stock that for private use
So every carp fishing lake is breaking the law if there's newts in it
Vale of the White Horse.!…… need I say more……
You need some catfish in there. They’ll wipe out everything, along with some cormorants, and maybe some crocs!! These councils are off their rockers.m
They protect newts better than they do our borders 😂
Just do it without the newt credits. All English councils are bankrupt and can’t afford to take you to court over it.
But was there any werewolves?
this is when some DET would be useful in the enviroment
Bloody newts honestly, my lakes thriving with life with the changes ive made. Angling brings life to old lakes
Time to put some carp in the lake
Makes you laugh at the hypocrisy, they appear to be able to build on any green belt land or protected land... Money talks...
This is just a small example of the people higher up literally taking the piss
id be pissed as a newt after that
I think ur crazy benedict just like me lol in good way tho and would 2 meet u 1 big it up 2 u tho m8 wot u do (legend)
So moral of the story is do what you like and take the 6 months inside on the chin. That way no one at the council gets rich for doing a day's work and when you come out the lake will be ready to fish 😂
This is great news time to get activists down to protest yippee
Next time do it without planning permision.
Charge £30 per day to visit your newts, no?
So much money spent and nothing to show for it 😂
I used to catch Great Crested Newts as a lad. They’re awesome creatures that are being killed off by land development and loss of habitat so deserve this level of protection. Did you not consider the costs of this when you took on the project. Sounds like you should sack your financial advisor. 😂
And they wonder why kids stay indoors playing computer games
Ok
Real fisheries aint profitable really they are just a long term money maker most people buy an stock carp with the intent on selling them in future or somerhing like that , also smaller match lakes is where the money is at
What a ridiculous load of faff all over newts and £15,500 to find out you have newts would have been easier doing it you other way by digging another lake no newts in there.
Hi Ben,
please can you / your editor stop using the iphone text sound effect, everytime made me look at my phone lmao
Nothing to do with nature all about money what a great place you would have made for the people 😢
no text translation, it's cheap.
Mate if you ever want free laybour and I mean free I've got a fue tickets for stuff like upto 10 tone digger and dumper tractor ticket and experience in all kinds of building work .. ever need a hand let me know.
6 months in jail seems a cheaper option 😂😂😂
better just buyin land and startin from scratch ben surely?
Thats what my other venue kevs pool is! Hope to do the same as that again one day!
@benedictfowler yea thats what i meant, plus u can design it as u want it. Keep up the good work m8
Werewolves are native the UK
Good job it's Mummy and Daddy's money and more is available to spaff up the wall
so rude
So true more like
lol to them your just another mug with money to burn
Sounds like you got scammed dude! 😂
Should of released some fish in there before you did this. 😉😉.
FFS 😮
shocking. just build an immigrant hotel on site and i bet the authorities will pay you mate lol.
And to think 50 years ago I used to catch great crested newt’s and race them against each other as a child from a local pond. Didn’t harm them, put them back to catch and race another day. Worlds gone mad.

the great nature scam
I've got a 5 ac lake in the USA and I literally drained it down and applied poison to kill all the fish so I could restock it 🤣
Not being able to do even a tiny bit of that like your situation in England is WILD. Completely out of control regulations imo
Does it even have fish in it 😂
Newt license and registration please mate.
this guy is too rich ..... shut him down .... lol
What a ripoff
Can I get permission to fish it 😁
There are no fish in it as far as we are aware
@benedictfowler Well I could help you find that one out 🤔🤣
Should of put your carp fry in it 🤪😁😁😁🎣🎣
If there are no fish, we could at least try to get and remove all the nutes from there.
Bet you 2 quid there are fish in there by mother natures doing @@benedictfowler
Hold on a minute should they not be applauding you for creating a home for these newts? Great crested newts are not endangered, their in every puddle their is! Must be 100's of newts in your water to detect urine! I smell a rat here and its money. Take it to court challenge them to catch one from your lake supervised!
They ain't in every puddle!! Mate do you've research great crested Newts are rare as fk these days
Errr no they aren’t! I’ve got hundreds if you want some
Fark Terrible newts ag news
First
Planners are bellends at best
