EDTA or Sodium Citrate can be utilized depending on your laboratory and methodology. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, most labs preferred specimen of choice is EDTA. Some text does list Sodium Citrate as a specimen as well.

the esr tubes contain 0.1 ml of trisodium citrate 3.8 g%. If not please add it. then add EDTA blood up to line.ratio will be 1:9. thank you .ahmed .yemen aden.

but i thought that the EDTA top WAS the correct tube/anticoagulant. That's what I learned in my Hematology course.

You most use 3.8% of sodium citrate. Anticoagulant
