    Leave Begaluru to Native Bengalurians or KANNADIGAs .. Settle in Patna / Madhubani/ Danbad/ Bhubaneshwar / Rorkela etc.. You can have very very good life as trafic is almost zero there .. At the same time Native Bagaluru people can also live happily .. DO NOT COME TO BENGALURU for settling here

    Some ways to fix the problem:
    1. Complete Metro Phases 2 (incl. 2A & 2B) and 3 (incl. 3A Sarjapur line).
    2. Complete 148 km Suburban Rail project
    3. Implement PRR (in limbo) & complete STRR (under construction) ASAP!
    4. Implement TenderSure road & footpath design on all mainroads of BLR - this one project alone can uplift the quality of any Indian city up to Bangkok or even KL standards!

    Im from Hyderabad, but LOVE BENGALURU...The only solution is completing and expanding METRO projects...Bengaluru's metro is one of the best...Been there last month, I did face hurdles with traffic, but taking Metro was the best part...The only people who need to change in Bengaluru is the Autowalas..Rapido was the best, but they are scared of pinpoint pickups and drops often due to the fear of being threatened by Autowalas...

      Look at the Some Metro Cities like Hyderabad n DELHI n Mumbai n Chennai n KOLKATA.

    You can only put a glass of water in a glass, not a bucket of water. Same already happened in Mumbai and same is happening in Bengaluru. When metro was planned, they said that will be solution. Now, metro is on and traffic/pollution is worse. If you do not ban single occupancy cars (especially SUVs), encourage car/vehicle pooling and bicycle lanes, make stricker laws to discourage people from buying unncessary vehicles, governments will come and go and we the normal people will keep lamenting about the traffic. Learn from Singapore and Netherlands. 1 crore vehicles for 1.3 crore pooulation in Bengaluru with around 5000 vehicles added everyday is beyond ridiculous and one day will make our Namma Bengaluru unlivable (if not already). And I am saying this being a native Bengaluriga.

    In Netherlands there are footpaths, bicycle paths, good Public transportation. And the spatial planning is done well i.e they don't build SEZs, give permission to commercial building etc if they are not near public transport Like Train being the preferred one and then comes Metro, Tram, Bus, Ferry in that order.
    The public transport in India is bad. For example if my company is not near Metro then I will not use metro because I need to change 3 vehicles and there is no common card to check-in checkout in those 3 vehicles. The frequency of public transport is bad

    The problem is our polity. We never had a CM that we can look up to. Some one like Modi in Gujarat or Yogi or Naveen Patnaik who keeps delivering and winning elections. SM Krishna was the closest we came to. BJP, Cong and JDS lacks a mass leader who is inspiring and a bit dictatorial too. Even having a clear majority the CM and DCM are fighting and always the high command needs to butt in. How can this be good for the city or state. Decisions are made by high command and not the people who voted them and that is the problem.

    Bangalore lost its glory when SM Krishna, CM of Bangalore, wanted to convert as Singapore. Now see the situation!. As a native Bangalorerien, i left the city in mid 90 s . And settled in tire2 city. From Marathalli to kengeri takes minimum 2 hours in BMTC bus . By that time from kengeri to mysore I can reach in same time.

    In the one hand there is China where Public transport connectivity are spread through various corners of the streets where it even not needed, and other is My beloved India, where whole city is bustling with people with lesser space and by the speed of public transport infrastructure building took years to complete ( even a 1 km network of metro took 5 years to establish a connectivity.)     It is amazing to see Bangalore continues to be the preferred destination in India and silicon valley, despite traffic. Imagine where will this city go , if traffic were to be tackled scientifically!
    Bangalore needs to expand outskirts in a planned manner for traffic to ease. This is inevitable.

    As a native of Bengaluru, I can add that the traffic became a problem from the mid 1980s, when most of the city roads were narrow, had no dividers. Now we have big broad roads with multiple lanes and dividers.
    The reason is that average one thousand vehicles are added to the roads every day. People own more than one car and use the road for parking the additional vehicle. Thus the road width available for driving is reduced.
    Most drivers in Bengaluru are village boors. They behave as though they are driving a bullock cart in a village lane.

      This is wat I urge people. Karnataka means not just bangalore, mandya, mysore. Uttar karnataka can be hub for development n IT hub. Historically uttar karnataka was never part of current karnataka. We were always seen a labour providing to South karnataka.

    I did a small survey -- Stood in one busy corner for 1 hour at 5 PM ( Jayanagar Cool Joint ) -- saw more than 100 SUVs ( 9 seaters ) with only driver and all other 8 seats empty .. Such a bog car takes lot of space on road and bound to create Traffic jam -- citizens do not use BMTC Bus as it is below IT employees prestage - - They started using Metro now .. 150 families come to Banglure to stay here daily -- THINK -- Blaming Politicans is easy thing to do

    because of poor city planning..Planning Authority of State or BDA shrunk the roads so they can fill more layouts and sell it out...the worse of all is the Hennur/Hormavu where they sold layouts..then they thought oh we need a main road to connect to city and everywhere else!....this is nothing less than Utter failure by those responsible in planning development, cash for scam, illigal transactions and colluding with builders and others have resulted in narrowed or no road situation, the blame is COMPLETELY ON BDA, POLITICIANS, MINISTERS AND BBMP!

    1) Poor bus routes - they have only shivaji nagar, majestic as main bus stops. And no mini-bus for smaller roads of residential areas, so people use own-cars, bikes which increase traffic. No mini shuttle buses to metro
    2) Metro connectivity - in various places (KR pura to silkboard etc,.) will reduce more
    3) Decongest city - Move tech parks to more outskirts Hoskote, Devanahalli or along metro lines

    2. Introduce congestion pricing and parking pricing to decrease car and private vehicle ownership.

    Lack of knowledge of traffic rules even with educated ones is primary reason along with infra issues.
    1. No lane following
    2. Being "smart" instead of forming a queue for their left/right turn blocking straight flow.
    3. No respect for road signs
    4. Does not understand what slow lane/fast lane means in multi lane road
    5. Vehicle damaging speedbumps put up by local residents.
    6. No pedestrian walking ethics. Crossing road on their whim and wills
    7. Commuter buses blocking flow of traffic in the bus stop with multiple buses aligned adjacent instead of forming queue.
    8. Bribing officers to get a license even though they're ineligible to drive.
    9. Opposite side driving, reversing on main road to skip the toll/go under the bridge/ take a missed turn.
    Basically, we all indians are corrupt in our blood and hoping some magic fairy queen will come and solve all our problems

    Companies also responsible in this aspect. Some fields like in IT not required to come to the office to work. WFH is enough.
    Some goons put the pressure on companies politically ask the employees to come to office for their vendor business real estate/cabs..etc.,

    It's common for people to acknowledge the problems and then assume that someone else will take care of them. Instead of just complaining on platforms that have little impact on the ruling party or government offices, it's time to accept responsibility and take concrete actions.
    How many individuals earning an annual income of 10 lakhs or more are genuinely willing to use BMTC buses? The reality is that most IT employees in this income bracket own cars and bikes, and they prefer commuting in their own vehicles. This mindset is prevalent because carpooling is often seen as damaging to one's reputation, especially for those who have recently purchased a vehicle and are managing EMIs with their salary.
    Stop building hatred towards a city. If you are living in a place start acknowledging it's negative as much as you love the positive. Don't behave like a competitors this is for people who are endorsing their native city as the best or better than Bengaluru.
    Ultimately, as Indians, it is crucial for every city to progress, providing opportunities for people like us to settle within India instead of seeking immigration to other nations. Please avoid spreading negativity or animosity towards our city.

    As a Bengaluru native, I actually decided to move to the US to get away from the ridiculous time spent on roads.I was tired of spending 2 hours each way to get to and back from work. God forbid, it rains because once that happened I realized there were no cabs available. I literally had a beg a cab driver who was decent enough to call me to tell me that he won’t be able to honor the ride. That nice man actually agreed and got me home safe after 3 hours sitting in the traffic. This was 10 years ago and I can’t imagine what my fellow Bengaluru people go through now.

    I don't think that we have very simple solution here, in our country and our city we act once traffic and bottlenecks arrise we have to think long term solution. But these ministers think of short term solutions only. Focus should be on building mass transit systems on fast pace. And having a reliable last mile connectivity.

    Booking a cab or an auto during peak hours is impossible. And with recent ban for Car pooling, I was encouraged to bring my own car. And same for most. Now we can experience the traffic jams much more higher and everyday.

      But after Covid. The govt was forced to direct the companies to call employees to work as the locals were not making money rents, cans, autos, restaurants etc. Even though there is a solution, it will not be implemented.

    city planning is almost nill in india - bengaluru, hyd, chennai had almost 0 city planning. kolkata had some planned area --- chandigarh, new mumbai, chandigarh, noida, gurugram are lot better . what india needs is chandigarh kind of planned cities with delhi kind of metro system.

    NO trainng for BMTC bus drivers they are the worst drivers and most of the time halting on the road blocking full road
    NO rule for auto or cab drivers only eye on IT employees mostly non Kanadigas
    Road construction process fking damm slow and are death trap for many commuters specailly bikers

    The true traffic is made up of people arriving from outside, avoid bringing your cars from there or purchasing new ones here. instead, take public transit.
    If the issue persists, please relocate to your home state, which offers a better quality of life than Bangalore.

    Nothing like that. Bengaluru is having very good metro connectivity. will be better connected in few years down the line.

    Dear Miss Smitha Prakash,
    You mentioned the solutions for reducing the traffic problems. This should have been done a long time back before it became monstrous problem.
    As for following the traffic rules or any rules, specially by the rickshaws and two wheelers it does not exist for them.
    People are developing various respiratory and skin diseases because of poor air quality. They are stressing out and in near future the production will go down. Is it too late to take actions to prevent the disaster written all over the wall?

    Resistance culture is what I put these problems down to. Occupations caused mass resistance which essentially destroys society so much so that even though you gained some semblance of independence the structure remains chronically crippled.

    It is the INCESSANT NOISE OF HORNS that drives me crazy. Drivers seem to use their horns to take out their frustrations. The noise of those horns DAMAGES THEIR EARS, and raises their blood pressure and increases the risk of HEART ATTACKS. It really is time to make the use of horns ILLEGAL except for emergency situations. But then, every minute on Bengaluru roads seems like an emergency! 😮

    To me the main reason is the builder politician nexus. 20 feet roads have huge office and apartments. The by lanes in ORR are tinier than the politicians love for the city but have huge buildings. Thousands of vehicles pour in. Six lances of the main ORR road empty in to a service road that’s just one lane wide to enter huge tech parks! Who approved these? They are all sitting with huge stash and laughing at the public who are suffering. To top it all, the Center does not seem too interested in decongesting Bangalore, just look at how long the Metro approvals have taken for the airport line. Huge funds for UP roads and wee bit for Bangalore which anyway gets eaten up irrespective of the political party in power
