@@ChaseTheSummit which one has better battery life ? I want to get a camera , for videoing my bike rides on the road . I just want to be able to film incase something bad happens. How long would battery last if filming in 1080p in each ?
I had the one r and upgraded to the one rs and - I love it. The camera is a lot cheaper for what it can do and the 360 mod is fantastic. It is just so much fun to use it the a 3m selvie stick and create drone like videos or creating angles that usually would not be possible. The app is great as well and for free - the eco system has no charge. You can use a lot of effects with the app to have your video stand out.
As a past owner of three Go-Pros all of which failed to last a year with relatively light use. I am now firmly team Insta One RS and I love it. Especially the fact it's not glitchy. Oh and the fact the basic item is far cheaper is a total bonus.
Great review, great comparison. I am coming from NO action cam, to wanting an action cam, and looking at the GoPro's of course they are the de-facto standard for action cams, but I also love the 360 videos, and of course the invisible selfie-stick. I am more of a casual adventurer (non competitive, skiing, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling), so typically have the luxury to decide what mod to use, and if I want to switch, probably no big deal to fiddle. So for me kind of a no-brainer I just bought an Insta 360 One RS Twin
I have a GoPro Hero 9 Black and I'm interested in the Insta360, but I wanna know more about it's reliability. The one thing my GoPro ISN'T and that's reliable. I've already had one replaced under warranty and the replacement does the exact same thing my first one did. Sooooo... nearly a year has passed since this video was made. How about a brief comment about your experience with the Insta360?
Yeah, the modularity of the ONE RS is not really suitable for running. Even for a youtuber, we would rather have multiple cameras ready to record different types of scenes. But for most people I think it makes sense.
Good review on the whole, but I found your first con to be strange to say the least. You bought the camera knowing it was modular and so therefore you would have to swap the lens if you want to go from the 4k lens to the 360 lens. If you knew that up front why be annoyed that you have to do it? Like buying a petrol car knowing you have to fill it up and being annoyed about it.
Just sharing my experience from my personal use case. As someone who is on the move and doesn't have time to fiddle with things simple operations like changing the battery become sort of annoying with the One RS as compared to the competition.
I just bought a Go Pro 10 rather hastily a few days ago (as it was on sale until just yesterday at Best Buy here in Toronto) and have intentionally not opened it until I've watched and read some reviews, keeping the 30-day return policy in mind. So far (from at least four or five comparison reviews between the two cameras) I like the video quality just as much on the GoPro 10, and don't care about 360 degree video and other effects on the Insta360. However, one review I saw showed that the 1-inch sensor (on the Insta360) worked better in really low-light, than the typical 1/2.5 (or whatever it is) sensor on the Go Pro. However, it's not very likely I would use the Go Pro 10 in extreme darkness, especially riding a bike, for example. In really dark places, I could just whip out my Sony RX100VA, which is pretty small too. So far, I'm still thinking of keeping the Go Pro. Finally, I'm thinking the Go Pro 11 just might have a 1-inch sensor (which will make it a huge seller), and which will make me cry for not having waited for it!
The 1" sensor is better in low light BUT the stabilization on the 1" sensor isn't very good compared to the GoPro or 4K Boost mod. I prefer the 4K Boost mod over the 1" sensor for most situations.
I was trying to match their focal length as close as I could and settled with these settings but yeah, I should have thrown some ultra wide in there 🤷♂️
I was really intrigued by the OneRS, but the more footage I see from it, the more I am glad I didn’t get one. The video quality just isn’t very good IMO. Plus the nonsense with the app seems like it would really slow down the workflow. Good review as always, Dave!
The nice thing about the One RS is that you don't have to use the app since it has built-in stabilization. You only need the app for 360 footage which is to be expected and similar to how GoPro handles 360 footage. But yes, it's an additional step! Thanks for watching dude!
the workflow through the app is only needed for 360 footage - and this is of course because you need to convert your 360 video into a 16:9 - 4:3 - 9:16 or whatever movie you want to have out of it. It would be the same with a gopro 360 camera.
Ok, I'm so sick of these ports being hard to open. That's reason enough for me to skip this one. I hate the GoPro battery / card cover. I hate the HDMI port cover on the A7S3. I could go on but come on companies. I've seen them do better in the past. Great video as always. Keep up the good work.

@@ChaseTheSummit the way they build in redundancies and carefully apgrade each model that is very little in the way of an upgrade at all. I finally bought the Insta360 RS 😀
I bought a GoPro 10 and I feel completely robbed. It overheats to insanity all the time. You cannot do any proper continues filming in 4k 60+ fps without it overheating FAST. I saw another video of the heat testing and the Insta 360 never overheated, only shut off the data screen, but still keeps filming while GP10 overheats and completely shuts down after like 20-30 min of continues filming which is an extreme deal breaker because I'm a cyclist and I film long segments of my rides, not just 1-2 minutes. What's the point of a camera then if it can only film in short bursts?!
The first con of the insta 360 according to you is the modularity... and I agree.. last thing I want is to fiddle around with the camera parts on the road... mounting them is a problem as is..
Yeah it's kind of a pro and a con at the same time. It's cool that you can change the camera but it's not super convenient while you're running/hiking to stop and fiddle with it.
The main drawback of Insta360 is that you cannot record more than 30 minutes of continuous footage, because you will be missing 10-50 seconds of video in between clips which doesnt happen on GoPro.
I'd offer a challenge to your first "things I don't like". You unfairly compared a single insta360 camera to a dual setup of a GoPro and a insta360. With that reasoning, you'd need to compare two One RS cameras vs your current setup. One 360 RS and one 4k boost. In that setup, you can use all the same batteries and accessories for both of the cameras compared to buying things for the GoPro and for the 360 camera. Seems to fix your issue and improve on your current setup, doesn't it?
Yeah TWO One RS cameras would certainly fix the problem. One with a 360 mod and one with the 4k boost. Interchangeable batteries etc... Pretty sweet! But, very expensive for two One RS setups!
Great video! There where some things missed like shooting in HDR on bright days and you can zoom I don't think the others do that. On the 360 footage a person can just use the desktop app to quickly render the raw footage if they like.
For sure, I wanted to share my use case specifically for outdoor/hiking/running. I figured there are 1 million other videos that read through every single spec. The GoPro also does HDR and Zoom which is great. The Desktop app is really nice though I do feel like the phone app is overall quicker (especially with a newer iPhone) Thanks for watching!

Tired of the GOPRO illusion. Expensive cameras that overhead and fry chips. Very happy with my Insta360 0ne RS. Found a sea turtle laying eggs on the beach. She took 45 minutes to lay her eggs.
