My horse had terrible skin and respiratory problems in the Houston area where I used to live (super humid, muddy, etc). I eventually moved to west Texas (desert) and brought him with me, and his skin and respiratory issues cleared up completely. Maybe Phantom will do better in a different climate. He seems like a lovely horse!
I can see why you like Phantom so much -- he has a much bigger build and bone than I've seen on most Mustangs. Of course, that might partly be because he is a little bit older than many of the Mustangs I've seen people work with on TH-cam. He definitely has a very good and calm brain. I love the way you work with all your horses, always doing what is best for the horse in problematic situations that are out of your control. It sounds like you and Camile have lined up a fantastic home for this fantastic horse-in-progress :) Thank you for all that you do, Sam, and always being a considerate and kind person with horses. PS Always nice to see a little Lynx cameo running up to where you're working near the beginning of your vid :)
Props to you Sam! Thats a sticky place that Phantom got in, but I'm glad to hear he's going to a good home!!! Thanks for being honest and real, I know it might be hard but it helps younger trainers like me know that not everything goes right all the time!
Perhaps with some new time you could make a new intro ? LOL ! Judy kidding. I still love your old one and I’m sure your still extremely busy !! Thanks for the vid ! ❤️🐴❤️
Whoever gets him is extremely lucky! It's sad you can't keep him but you should be proud at being able to pick a great looking mustang, and giving him a great few days of start.
You are so strong. I would've fallen for him drastically and NEEDED to keep him😜 So proud of both of you and how well you worked together. I wish him all the best in his new home and you all the best in your clinic travels.
Phantom seems like such a mellow sweetheart. I'd love to see him again and I hope you get to be a part of his world. I feel for him with those skin issues.
Good job Sam! I know the story didn't end exactly the way you thought or hoped, but I feel you gave Phantom the respect he deserved by showing the clips you did have of him. Appreciate your honesty.
I absolutely love him!!! I've never owned/trained a mustang, but man he seems very special!!! What a wonderful brain!!! Wish I was closer, I would love to have him!
Sam you always seem to handle your various challenges with great decrement. Such a awesome trainer you are and caring to do the right thing. Hopefully we will see the transfer come through and maybe a video down the road of this really beautiful horse.
Sometimes you have to have the wisdom and compassion to do what is right for yourself and the horse. It’s better to err on the side of caution, than to push on. Best wishes to you both, on your separate paths.
Sad for you but glad you're thinking of his issues first and foreseeing problems! My Paint had sweet itch all year round, skin issues are not easy to deal with. Hope to see him in a video again, he's such a smart gorgeous boy!
Girl you always put them first! I wasn't even pressured and still tried to sign up for a couple different mustang things this year. Even after I told myself I needed a break. I feel the stars have aligned for you and I am excited to watch all of your adventures this year! Maybe we can get together when you get back to FL. 💜
So sad! He probably would have been great in California. Hot, humid environments are so hard to maintain an animal with allergies. I'll bet that he would have been even worse in Florida..at least where I am on the central east coast. It's awesome that he gets to stay with Camille!!!
Sam, vets can usually tell from a rash whether it seems to be something that is contagious or not and I highly doubt that they would refuse a health cert for something that like you say is from weather and fly irritation. I hope you try to see what the vet says before really deciding not to go forward with him, he has the most potential of any of your past mustangs! Good luck with everything!!
I've had similar "luck" working with mine... when I adopted her my situation was perfect and I had the time, within a matter of weeks I was working an insane schedule, then toss in the horrid weather we've had this year, it has definitely been challenging to do anything with any of our horses. I do try to get out and feed and pet my mustang as much as possible though. It happens, especially in the south.... just keep making videos ma'am, love watching them and learning from you.
Sam…life is often more complicated than not…don’t beat yourself up much longer re: Phantom…your belief in his potential will serve him well in your handoff to a deserving new owner…Suerte!
I like him soooo much! I'm sure it was not an easy decision, but kudos to you for doing what was right for him. Sounds like he will have an awesome home, too! These Texas summers are brutal. I feel so sorry for him with his skin issues. Moved down here a couple yrs ago from Southern PA with my Mustang mare ..and I can't say we are staying, but at least I got to find that out. As my farrier that I loved down here said, "You gotta admit, Texas weather sucks."😂 Although born and bred Texan, he sold his 48acre farm in Northeast Texas, right after that, and moved out with his wife. Not sure where he landed, but I sure do miss him.
I have eczema and let me tell you it's a "b" with an "itch". Wishing the best for Phantom. His skin problem might not have been addressed had you not been the one to pick him so we all thank you!
I'm sorry this has happened. You can't control the weather. It is very bad timing. How perfect that Sis could assist with a contact who was looking for something that he fit. He will continue to have wonderful compassionate training and make a fantastic horse for her client.
You said it yourself you had to do what was best for the horse and yourself and as hard as it is it sounds like you found a great fit for him that maybe would not have happened otherwise
Yeah… we’re still recovering from the damage from the rainstorms earlier this year. I’m currently waiting on some tractor parts to arrive so I can get my grapple working (it needs a hydraulic adapter… sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring it all to a halt). Hang in there! He seems like a nice horse… I’m no expert, but I’m thinking he’ll do well. 🙂🐴
Sad to hear.....such a nice horse! ❤Skin issue maybe he just needs vet to check etc....This horse has a future and hoping whoever ends up with him can keep in contact with you!
Did he have it when you first picked him up? It might be something in his feed , or in fla my dogs get " grass itch" something in the grass breaks my one dog out like that. My other dog it doesn't bother him. , Or could it be something in the rain water? ( I'm allergic to rain and snow..it causes hives ..normal water is fine. I think what the disease you're thinking of is " mange" my thoughts but I'm NOT an expert..it looks like what my dog gets from the grass , but only where it touches her..
what is up with the background noise? i noticed this in your last video. its not enjoyable. its white noise, but not good white noise. just commenting.

That’s the hope 💛

wow. He's the FRIENDLIEST "wild" horse we've seen!
He's amazing.
praying for a miracle.

Lucky girl that got this horse...he is special.
Sorry it didnt go as you had originally hoped but glad you were able to work it out for him and find him a good home, hes such a love bug
❤❤What a sweet looking boy he is. I pray his skin and all gets better in a different climate. ❤❤
Howdy do miss Sam vanfleet. I really really really like your horses videos and I like you

Such a bummer 😢 but so happy he got to start with you!!!! Wishing you a safe clinic season
Wish there was a way for me to take him here in Oregon.
You always do what's best for the horses. Phantom is a very lucky horse because he has so many good people who care about him.
❤I haven’t seen A Horse you Worked with’ that was not A Finished horse. You know how to train them.. to be ridden.👻😀
Alway love your videos I own Cereza for the Espinoza’s she is doing amazing ❤❤
Good job Sam! I know the story didn't end exactly the way you thought or hoped, but I feel you gave Phantom the respect he deserved by showing the clips you did have of him. Appreciate your honesty.
Loved Danny Phantom as a kid, it's good that Phantom's going somewhere nice where he can live his best life.
I absolutely love him!!! I've never owned/trained a mustang, but man he seems very special!!! What a wonderful brain!!! Wish I was closer, I would love to have him!
Hes a really nice mover ❤❤😂

S I pleased to hear you've found such a great solution with the help of Camille. Would be great to get an update on his progress in the Autum.
You are doing a great job learning that you can't always do exactly what you want. 👏
Sometimes you have to have the wisdom and compassion to do what is right for yourself and the horse. It’s better to err on the side of caution, than to push on. Best wishes to you both, on your separate paths.
My Little Owyhee mustang is struggling with allergies and bugs in the PNW. He is an awesome horse.
Sad for you but glad you're thinking of his issues first and foreseeing problems! My Paint had sweet itch all year round, skin issues are not easy to deal with. Hope to see him in a video again, he's such a smart gorgeous boy!
❤❤❤❤❤😮😮

This sweet Phantom has slipped in and out fir better pastures. All the best to him. Im sure he will be happy with Krista. ❤❤❤
Big fat bummer! Good Luck Christa and Phantom🍎❤️🍎🇨🇦🫶

I love how this worked out in such a positive way!

He's a pretty chilled dude 💜 good mind. Are you able to show us his journey with her, would love to know how he progresses
❤❤❤❤❤😢

You can try giving him oatmeal baths👍🍀🇺🇸
If you girl doesn’t work out I would be interested in taking him. I’m a rancher in Texas and willing to use him here when he is well.
😊👍
Where is Sam located in this video. I heard calif...I so hate that state.
Sad to hear.....such a nice horse! ❤Skin issue maybe he just needs vet to check etc....This horse has a future and hoping whoever ends up with him can keep in contact with you!
I can’t wait to watch his journey!
So sorry to hear! Do you mind if I ask, where were the obstacles you trailered to in Austin?
Gary Park I believe it’s called
@@SamVanFleet thank you so much! I havent been since they added the obstacles, super cool to see them!
What happened to him??
Try Vick's on his skin. It heals stuff!

No, the swelling under the jaw could appear like Strangles, but it is not.
😢💔
Don't they vet him?
I hope its not ring worm 😅
Hydroxyzine helped my horse, not too expensive.
they dont look at there skin

Probably the ac or a fan. So she doesn't get heat stroke.
@@thatonedog819 ok. ty.
Gotta do what's best for both.... but if vets do a skin scrape and definitely determine not contagious disease 🤔🤔 they kinda gotta give a health cert
