Very helpful for showing me where the problem was. I was working on a 2014 VW Golf. The symptom was a wet passenger floorboard (front and back seat) following a heavy rain.
What I learned from another video is there is a single grey rubber tube that runs from the drain hole in the front corner of the sunroof down the front pillar. At the junction of the dashboard/windshield/pillar, the grey tube fits into a black rubber fitting. It would appear to be the other end of the black flexible drain plug you referred to. As this is just a friction fitting, when the drain plug gets clogged, water backs up past this fitting inside the car and once sufficient pressure is reached, it starts leaking into the car where it runs down the inside and ends up on the floorboard.
Instead of cutting the drain plug, I was able to get a pinkie inside the opening to work my finger around, along with squeezing it to break up the clog inside.
Additional notes: If your windshield arms are rusted/stuck, in addition to using some penetrating agent like PB Blaster, there are also windshield wiper arm pullers that can be purchased or possibly rented.
The black plastic cover under the wiper blades simply pulls up. Took a bit of force but it finally came up after I was able to slide it back and forth. It simply fits into a slot is all.
Cat5e cable fits down the grey drain tube as well from the sun roof but did not have sufficient strength to push through the clog.

I can’t get the tube in far enough into the rubber fitting that you mentioned. I get it in a quarter inch at the most and it pops out with just a little movement. I do wonder if the hose from the sunroof has shrunk some over time. I don’t think I Had a clog as a string trimmer line goes right through. Any suggestions for reconnecting?

Pour water to each corner to find exit or which is blocked. Use either plastic trimming cord from lawnmower or single flex slim electrical cable, each are bendy or flex enough to negotiate bends. Poke with the thinners trimmer chord first occasionally pouring small amounts of water to check progress. Leaves, pine needles and general accumulation of dirt are the culprits. Carpets are best removed and dried out thoroughly as trapped damp will effect performance and life of any under carpet wiring which can turn out very expensive to replace. Similarly, under battery mount in a B6 Passat there is a drain hole which if blocked will cause seepage through bulkhead and damage to electrics, check it regularly, you can have a long piece of cable tie positioned in the hole and the grip end accessible under the battery, just pull and push a few times then run water down windscreen gully into the under battery drain and check for a good flow under the car. Experienced and fixed each on a VW Fox and a 2001 VW Passat.

Are you in Orlando Florida by any chance? I drive a 2017 golf and the dealer wants to charge me $900 to fix this same problem. I just can’t get to the drains. I tried using a special tool that I’ve used before and it goes all the way to the bottom of the car but the tool isn’t coming out the bottom so the drain is clogged somewhere….i think it’s exactly where you showed in this video

Blow in the tube with air compressor to clean it. You possibly have a sunroof seal problem if it continue to leak after that.

Press down hard on the joint where the spring is in your wiper blades. Move the assembly back and forth, it’ll eventually break the rust loose in the spline and it’ll pop right off
