24.04.2023 - Using the Hornby HM/DCC App

  • A short while ago I made a video on the Hornby HM7000 Bluetooth / DCC decoder and covered installing one in a Hornby Class 91 'Battle of Britain Memorial Flight' loco.
This video is a follow up and shows the loco running on my layout while being controlled by the HM/DCC App running on an iPhone and using Bluetooth.
At the moment there is no available HM7000 sound file for the Class 91 so apologies that the sound is all wrong but I think the video still gives an indication of what can be done with the Hornby HM/DCC App. (The sound profile installed is for a Class 73 (which is diesel/electric)).
As per the advice given (due to potential issues with using the decoders with DC) I am only using the decoder on a DCC layout..
My thanks go to Vivian Hughes for suggesting I make this video.
21/06/23 Hornby launched the HM|DCC App for Android, so comments in the video saying the App only works on iPhone are no longer valid.

Please what sounds are you using in place of the class 91?

The sound profile installed is for a Class 73 (which is actually diesel/electric).

@@AndrewH561 Sounds very good though, might be worth getting a class 73 if they are any good.

It's disappointing that Hornby haven't released many sound files. I bought three decoders but I'm not buying any more until many more sound files are added. I wasn't that impressed with the Class 73 sound file. It was just ok but I guess you are paying much less for it.

I couldn't agree more. It is a shame there aren't more sound files. Personally I think the sounds that are available are okay but, yes, there are better sound options out there however sometimes at twice the price.

Apologies for the long delay in replying (I've been out in the wilds of Norfolk with limited internet access). Currently I am using a 16V regulated power supply which is connected to the Motor Board.
