HI NOT TO SURE HOW MANY POUNDS THAT THE OLD DISH ACUATOR,THERE ARE SEVERAL ACTUATORS USED IN THE RV IND. THAT CAN BE FOUND ON EBAY OR THE LIKE.THE ONE I USED HAS A 1800 LBS PUSH AND PULL,NOT ALL NEEDED BUT THE PRICE WAS RITE.
This is awesome, I am converting a 26' Class C into a food truck and since I am going to completely remove and rebuild the sidewalls, new metal framing, insulation, and PLENTY FRP and stainless! To add a slide out like this would increase the possibilities and of course the extra square footage on a food truck is absolutely precious...
HI.THE ACTUATOR I USED HAS NO MARKINGS ON IT,I GOT IT AT RV SURPLUS IN ELKHART INDIANA .ITS A 48"LONG STROKE,FROM WHAT I CAN TELL MOST OF THEM ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.THE TRACKS I MADE MY SELF BECAUSE I COULD NOT FIND THEM ANY WHERE.BUT AFTER MAKING THEM I FOUND THEM AT LIPPERT IND.THEY MAKE ALL SORTS OF COOL STUFF FOR RV'S .THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY PROJECT AND HAVE AS MUCH FUN WITH YOURS AS I AM WITH MINE
Wow iv actually been wanting to do this to a transit van. so would be on a much smaller scale. i am a mechanical engineer by trade but dont know a whole lot about electronics/moving parts..definitly keen to have a play around tho.. love what youve done here. will subscribe.awesome mate
My brother that is the best workmanship that I have found on..well anywhere for a diy slide. I have a 2001 Van Hool c2045 and I would like to to put 2 maybe three slides in. I was wondering if I could get some other pictures from you on the push mechanism because from the videos I can not seem to put it together in my head. I would so appreciate any and all help. Thank you in advance
Hi boss , hey thanks for the phrase , unfortunately I"m a victim of the camp fire in Paradise Calif and lost every thing in the fire all pics and videos sorry I cant help. good luck with your build Thanks Bruce
Nice build, reminds me of working on my boat, listening to oldies, I had the same idea of using old huge actuator arms from those big honking dishes... How many do you think I would need for a 8ft wide slideout?
Yes I would, now that I'm done I think I would have more fun with it knowing what I know now. WOW COST ! I have roughly $13,000 above the low cost of my coach invested. Of course that's not counting labor Thanks Buddy
The system I'm using has been used for many years and is still being used .Mine is a copy of a lippert system.and all the seals are proven to work seals also used for years.the slide room has been done for a year now and has overcome many rain showers with no sign of leaks. Thanks for your concern (What accordion sides?)
Hello. I am rebuilding my 76 wilderness with a slide and was wondering what brand actuator you used and was that a complete kit in the video or did you supply most of the parts yourself? Great job by the way.
What would they call the sprocket you used on your slide. I’m interested in building one like you have. A spur gear would not work with my lower rollers for sliding bar. Thanks
HI Alllen , the sprocket you are looking for is called a cog wheel and its made by Lippert compoinets its there old school version of what they make now Im not sure they even sell the parts to replace it anymore I machined my own up hope that helps you
Thanks for quick reply I was doing some searching and had zero luck. I really like how yours is setup I was gonna use a hydraulic ram to extend and retract if I can find the pieces parts to make it work. Or I may just go with the norco cable system as I can hide the cable underneath in the slide tubes instead of on the slide exterior. Thanks again
Did you make your alignment gear (seen at 1:17) or did you purchase it? If you purchased it, what is it called and where do you get it?
Where did you find the parts to do this
