  • This presentation is part of our 3-part series this week on the Free-Throw rule in NFHS basketball rules and our promise is simple. At the end of this three-part series this week you will absolutely be able to adjudicate Free-Throw plays correctly 100 percent of the time.
    Today we're getting started with a masterclass on the rule itself. Welcome to the master class today on the Free-Throw rules and restrictions in national federation of high school basketball rules.
    Analyzing our own game video is the number one way to improve as basketball officials. Following closely behind is analyzing plays from others' games. What can we learn from the officials on these plays? Let's review positioning, working of the system, call accuracy, rules knowledge and game management. It all comes together on the court. Let's look at Plays!

    If you have a question about a play, drop a timestamp (MM:SS format) in with it. Makes it MUCH easier for me to respond!

    I believe the L is responsible for the player that violated in Play #1. The T has the shooter and the players in the top two marked lane spaces furthest from him.

    So on play #3 at 16:46 if you were to call a foul on white, would that be a shooting foul correct? (So 1 free throw for the lane violation and two for the shooting foul?)

    • @BetterOfficials
      @BetterOfficials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a shooting foul. The foul was for displacement after release. Not an airborne shooter. Common foul with added delayed lane violation! Thanks for that timestamp!

    Help me out here……goal tending on free-throw. I see a lane violation before the goal tend. Award another free-throw, and ignore the goal tending?

    • @chocymachado
      @chocymachado 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha this is an interesting scenario i can see the way you see it as the violation first but infact its still the goal tending is the issue. let better official give you a response but for now .. in Australia it would be goal tending point counts and a tech given, here its one shot no line up and continue from point of interruption since score counts from the goal tending (as one)
      defending team to throw in from baseline (as if made free throw)

    • @sctnabt
      @sctnabt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I guess you can’t really……delayed foul, see if the try is good……which it can’t be. So score the goal tend, 2 more shots for someone on shooting team, then award the ball to same?

    • @chocymachado
      @chocymachado 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sctnabt not sure what you mean by delayed foul see if try is good.. it is a goal tending scenario so you cant see if the try is good it automatically counts.. so yes count one point and then... depends where you are what your tech rule is.. are you in usa Australia or where?
      So it could be one of either .. 2 shots and possession, 1 shot and possession, or 2 shots continue from point of interruption so other team would throw in or 2 shots and continue from point of interruption as I said depends on what your tech rule is in your country/area.
      Hope that helps mate.. better official?
